Re: Eli Manning vs Jason Campbell
Eli sacked 27 times.
JC 38 But JC did have more pass attempts. 506 to 479 So while JC was sacked 11 more times he also threw 27 more passes so by taking that into account i wouldnt say there is a huge difference in the pass protection. but i will say that the Giants oline is much better at run blocking. |

Once again, the combination of a couple of things is that makes a team successful. I believe the offense as a whole needs to show improvement this year. |
Re: Eli Manning vs Jason Campbell
Guys like Peyton and Brady wont get sacked much due to teams not blitzing them as much. IMO
Those guys welcome defenses to take guys out of coverage and rush them. more often than not they make them pay for it. |

I mean since 2002, Indianapolis and New England have been in the top 10/top 15 in least QB sacks allowed (except last year in NE). I'm sure defenses don't go blitz crazy when they face Payton or Brady, but give some credit to the lines. |

In the case of NE id say not really. when they were setting the scoring record not many teams blitzed Brady, the Gmen got after him in the SB and gave teams a blueprint on how to slow down brady and Co. the Cheifs got after him and put him out and then Cassel wasnt getting the respect from defenses that they gave Tom. |

See when NE set the scoring record, I remember watching the NE/Baltimore game, and I do think B'more went after Brady quite a lot. I think it'd be interesting to see stats on the number of blitzes that the NE o-line faced that year. Also, in 2006, Brady had no #1 receiver, while he was still Tom Brady, I'm sure the defenses must have not feared the likes of Reche Caldwell and Ben Watson; and probably went after the QB. |

The Iggles and regular-season Giants also went after him pretty hard. |

Maybe you and I are reading the different polling maps. Currently, as I'm reading this, it has 50% saying he's not in the top half. That 50% is wrong, of course. |
Re: Eli Manning vs Jason Campbell
NOTE: SUBJECTIVE OPINION ALERT
I don't think many coordinators would blitz Campbell at all if they didn't think they could break down our protections in the process. The 6+ man blitzes, designed at getting more rushers than the offense could pick up, were incredibly beatable by Campbell last year. It's the 5 man rushes and 4 man zone blitzes that we failed to pick up and resulted in pressure on the QB. The protection schemes were lacking, but it's tough to say how much of that is on the QB, how much is on the coaches, and how much is on the line itself. |
Re: Eli Manning vs Jason Campbell
No Burress in NY, I'll take JC over Eli anyday! He has comparable stats and he has got it done with lesser talent.

I think each situation where the protection breaks down has to do with one, or a combination of of these things. It is subjective to each play in which factor(s), lead to the breakdown of the protection. In the case of the second half of the 08' season I believe JC, protection schemes or play calling (Zorn), and offensive line play, are ALL EQUALLY guilty of sub-par performance.:twocents: |
Peyton Manning was only sacked about 14 times. Based on that, should'nt the Colts have won the Super Bowl?
That doesnt matter in this thread All you need to know is JC sucks and anyone else is better. |

Today on espn.com Mosley was asked what set Eli apart from the other East QB's? His answer. Mouth Breathing. lol

Quick, how many Super Bowls has JC won by throwing clutch passes against an 18-0 team in one of the greatest game of all time?

Touche' Gotta give him some credit, they did do better vs the Pats that yr than we did. Definately one of the worse games ive seen us play in a long time. the whole team was dreadfull. |

Honestly, as much as I defend Campbell, I still think he has a lot to prove to be compared to a QB like Eli and Big Ben. Many have made very good arguments when you compare JC to Eli for example. But for the masses, Eli is a SB winning QB, and they will see nothing beyond that With that being said, it is my hope that in the near future, JC can add winning a SB to his resume. I also hope that some of the positive factors that have helped the likes of Big Ben and Eli Manning win a Superbowl, can help JC and the Redskins succeed and win the big one. |

When it became clear that they were running it up on Joe Gibbs that really PI$$ED me off. you dont disrespect a HOF HC like that, and thats why the Football Gods shunned them in the SB . HAHAHAHA |

It would have been worth giving up a touchdown to allout blitz and smack that smug SOB in the mouth. I mean WTH, they were going to score anyway. |

Funny you say that, i was tellin some NE fans the same thing. That a team will put a hit order out on Brady when they start runnin it up on them. Men in this game have alot of pride and wont stand for that foolishness. |

Uh please. Stop. They won yes. I'm not even a NE fan and I believe Eli was in the grass. The Refs should have called it. He throws up a hail marry. What would we be saying had a NE player caught the ball instead? The WR made the play. Barely. but he made the play. I would have also said the ball hit the ground cause in my eyes I'm seeing it move as the helmet hits the ground. but you can argue the fact that they won. Skins have done nothing. |

Re: Eli Manning vs Jason Campbell
Don't know how many of you have seen this yet but it's kind of depressing. Hopefully JC doesn't see this kind of crap and get discouraged, but basically it seems like the entire nation thinks he's in the bottom half of the league's QB's and there's only a handful of states (about 10) that think he's in the top half of NFL QB's.

Re: Eli Manning vs Jason Campbell
Funny what eight games can do. 6-2, Looking like the league MVP with no interceptions, controling the ball well. Then 2-6, He sucks, needs to be traded, can't get it done.

Not that it really matters what Joe America thinks of Campbell.
Yeah, I guess I expected there to be a lot more support in the expected areas (MD, VA, DC, MS. etc). What's probably very likely is the majority of people responding dont know a thing about his stats or scouting report, they just know he's the QB on a team that disappoints annually. Whose owner hung him out to dry in embarrassing fashion during the offseason. |

Re: Eli Manning vs Jason Campbell
Campbell's Ranks in the following measures by year:
DVOA (holding) 17th, 22nd, 18th DYAR (improving -- mostly due to increasing games started per season) 21st, 17th, 16th Completion % (improving drastically) 30th, 24th, 14th Y/A (holding) 22nd, 24th, 26th Adj Y/A [TDs add 20 yards, INTs subtract 45] (holding) 18th, 18th, 19th TD Rate (holding...the 2006 number is in a small sample) 7th, 26th, 30th INT Rate (improving) 13th, 8th, 1st Sack Rate (declining drastically) 4th, 12th, 23rd I guess the key figure to watch is the yards per attempt. All of his other peripherals suggest that this number will improve by up to a yard this season, which would result in about 2-3 additional PPG for the offense from Campbell alone. But it hasn't really improved from the day he came into the league. I think he's probably improving his efficiency, but his declining supporting cast is masking these effects. If we finally get the 10 other offensive players moving in the right direction, the big year is absolutely inevitable. |
Re: Eli Manning vs Jason Campbell
