Hey we have now descended in to the hell that is chaos, so we might as well bring TO here. Fact of the matter is we can't develop receivers in house-protest Hixon's innocence all you want, we still can't develop receivers. Moss and ARE would be actually complimentary to TO in terms of skill sets, and TO and CP have a joint press conference where they both say - That's my quarterback.
I seriously would like that at this point. Cooley, Moss, TO, ARE, someone would be open
True, but not open enough for Campbell to make a decision. |
Re: Trade Deadline Approaching; Any Moves?
Can we get new ownership and trade Vinny?
How about we finally get an O Line? |
Can we get new ownership and trade Vinny?
How about we finally get an O Line?
I wish it could be like the 80s where we make just a couple of moves for the offensive line, yet they hit big time. I think we've probably made as many if not more moves re: offensive line from 1999-2009 as we did from 1979-1989...the moves just haven't worked |
I would like to see a deal made for Quinn, not giving away the farm, but if Snyder is making moves behind the scenes and his new coach (Gruden?) approves, Quinn's contract is manageable. He's been in an awful situation in Cleveland. He appeared to have the tools coming out of the NCAA and definitely had a great college QB coach in Weis.
We're not going anywhere this season. Now is the time to find out what we have as far as young players go to build around for 2010 & beyond.
I totally agree we are not going any where this season but do we want to give away more draft picks for a QB that has not showed much promise? If Zorn is gone then I want the new HC to pick the QB he wants to start in his system. |
How about Alex Boone? Isnt he on the San Frans p squad, sowe can get him by dumping AA or Bastie? He was a really good prospect that made some really dumb desions while drunk.
I was also thinking i wonder if Samuels can be traded for anything?
Samuels is damage goods right now. So no you would not get much value for him. |
Re: Trade Deadline Approaching; Any Moves?
Lets trade Portis, Sellers, Moss, ARE for some lineman and play all the young guys. Bout time we see what they can do as the main options. I would say trade JC but we know nobody wants him.
You want to trade Portis , Sellers( new contract),Moss ( Best WR) and ARE for SOME LINEMAN. Who the hell has some LINEMAN sitting around that will make us better?:nono: |
We should investigate a trade for Shawne Merriman as due dilligence, but in all honesty, he's not as great of a player after the injury as he was prior to it. If we could do a Braylon Edwards-type package for him, it'd make some sense. But no first or second round picks should be involved.
heard he's good at handling short bitches, maybe we should throw him in with snyder |
Re: Trade Deadline Approaching; Any Moves?
Why are we so concerned for trading for another player unless its a top O-Lineman that will come in and start the next several years for us. If anything try to get more draft picks by dumping some of our older Vets ( Betts,ARE,Rogers-RFA). I know its tough to admitt that we are going to have to rebuild this team, since Zorn is gone by the seasons end. Lets give the new coach plenty of picks to build the team for his system. Lets face it rebuilding requires patients by not only the Owner but also the DIE HARD FANS. No More Band-Aids we need major surgery to fix this mess.

They all deny trades, right before it happens.

Re: Trade Deadline Approaching; Any Moves?
Levi Jones tried out ofr the Lions today. I cant believe the Redskins have not brought him in for a tryout. The season is not over yet, they need to try. Batiste has no business even playing in the NFL.

Re: Trade Deadline Approaching; Any Moves?
Miami lost rb) Cobbs for/yr and R. Williams came up limping Monday Night , Maybe they would be willing to part with a pick for Betts ? Heck , if the Skins put out a statement that D. Thomas has been slowed by a Hammy , but he runs 4.3 / 40 yds , Al Davis might offer us a couple of picks for him :)

I've been surprised by that too, as well as Langston Walker not getting a call. |

I am confident someone is overriding Bugel on this part. in preseason at one point, he basically said, the right side is fine, I have enough bodies I can make it work, if you want to know my concern that is if Samuels goes out. I didn't look for the link, but it was that straight forward. And yet no LJ, no Walker no anybody, but we bring in an old RB from Tennessee??? Maybe SSmith is the offensive issue. Hard to believe, but maybe he is telling Bugel to "make it work" |

I think a lot is that at this point few teams pick up OL off the waiver wires (unless they need a long term fix for the season...which we do) because unless they're starting or first off the bench OL don't offer much versatility in that they can't play special teams. All that said, it does seem like this year there are some pretty decent candidates out there |

This is the crux of Vinnie's bias against drafting OL help. And hey I understand it, BUT, there are 31 other practice squads to pull from, there are several proven LT's to pull from, and it doesn't cost you any popularity points to bring guys in for tryouts. I so want to defend something about this organization. I really really really want to, but as 53 said, the question has to be asked "does ANYBODY know what they are doing?". |

The only benefit of the doubt that I can think of is that L. Jones & L.Walker both might've asked for $ that the skins aren't willing to pay. Maybe danny has set spending levels low after paying Hall & AH. (or better yet, he looked up a lot of old warpath threads about "vet minimum" offers & thought that sounded good) |
Re: Trade Deadline Approaching; Any Moves?
We need to move Rogers now. Odds are against us in trying to sign him to a long term deal in the offseason, especially since we gave Hall a big deal. We should at least get a second for Rogers, I would hope for a first. Two firsts would be great for the skins in rebuilding the o-line and possibly QB.

They need to look at both of them. But knowing the FO they are probably looking at skilled players. |

Trade Vinny for Matt Millen.

Sign some deal with stipulations that they would get a nice bonus and be rewarded with a nice contract next year in a uncapped season................ |

stop dreaming. we would be VERY lucky to get a 2nd for rogers. A 3rd is more realistic. In the end, though, we may not get any trade partners and receive nothing but a 3rd-4th round compensatory pick in 2011. |

He's a shut down corner, there would be plenty of teams interested in giving up a second for Rogers. Injuries play a major factor here and someone this weekend could get hurt and need to fill in the hole immediately. |

He's constantly with his guy but lately he's been not making the plays on the ball like he used to. The plenty of teams would definitely be in the back half of the round and they're mostly set. |
Re: Trade Deadline Approaching; Any Moves?
Someone else said this...and I've been saying it since the draft.
OLB and OT...duh! You can go after QBs, RB, WR all day but unless you can block and your d can stop people when it counts, you are dead. If any trade makes sense, it would be a skilled position for a grunt starter. Ideally...that would be something like Betts for a young OT or OLB on a team with serious depth. |
Re: Trade Deadline Approaching; Any Moves?
Derrick Johnson of the Chiefs is on the trading block, he's a Great 4-3 OLB! Put him at SLB and move Orakpo to DE

Re: Trade Deadline Approaching; Any Moves?
I realize that the O-line needs help first, but what about throwing a 2nd-rounder to the Rams for Steven Jackson?
He and Portis would be a great tandem and Jackson will be here after Portis is finished. |

Why would a team give up a 1st or 2nd for Rogers when he becomes a FA after this year? Wouldn't they just wait til the end of the season and sign him? |
Re: Trade Deadline Approaching; Any Moves?
And don't forget if next year is uncapped rookie contracts extend one more year so Rogers won't be a FA.

I don't see anyone giving up a 1st. A 2nd might be a stretch but if a contending team lost a cb this weekend, e.g. the vikes wingfield, or even the Saints (the GW connection), I could see that happening. Rogers is a very solid cb. As for waiting til season's end, a no. of trades happen for that very reason, the team that wants a player gets him w/out as much competition from the market. Usually the player would sign a new deal w/new team. |
