Re: Week 8: Around the NFL
I think if they weren't so distracted with the Yankees in the World Series, we would have our annual "fire Coughlin, Eli sucks" cries from the NY media.

The Giants are gigantic pretenders, and Eli isn't worth anywhere close to the $97M he just signed for. 4 of their 5 first games were against cupcakes. Now that they've been playing tough teams, they have been badly exposed. That D is nothing without Spags. 40+ points against 2 out of the last 3 weeks. Eli with 6 picks and only 3 tds in the past three games, completing less than half of his passes. He's holding the ball too long and looks confused. They can't run the ball, and they can't stop anyone. They're a .500 football team IMO, and Eli is a far cry from his brother. |
Re: Week 8: Around the NFL
I have to admit that im glad to see Alex Smith getting another shot. He did well considering he had an int that was off the wr's hands.

Alluding to the 2010 1st pick thread, here's another guy who's has been dealt a shitty hand. Bad wide receivers, for the most part a crap O-line, and a revolving door of coaches and coordinators. System, scheme, and personnel are so important to a young QBs success. As well as a good D. See Sanchez, Big Ben, Matt Ryan, and Joe Flacco as examples. |

he has been doing well with V.Davis, 3 td's in 2 weeks. or is it 4? |
Re: Week 8: Around the NFL
One thing I'm noticing is apart from our Skins the NFC East is shaping up to be a powerhouse again this year. Not sure why I heard people poo-pooing the Iggles going into this season. Their FO gave Dono some good talent to work w/ on offense and now they're scoring 40+. I was real suspect of Bill Sheridan taking over as DC for the Gmen and it looks like he's gonna have to make some changes to get that defense back to elite status. Cowpukes aren't elite but heads and tails above us so it's not like I can rip on em.
But the big story is Minnesota and New Orleans. I picked NO to play in the SB this year and as long as Brees stays healthy I basically think they're a lock (NFC championship will be either Minn v NO or Philly v NO). NO has the best DC in football, arguably the best HC and QB in football. Hopefully they beat the Pats or the Steelers for the trophy :) |

Too bad we drafted him as a linebacker and cut him during the preseason! HaHa!
Dont think we drafted him, however he was a free agent LB from UCLA in camp with us. Yea some teams just bring out the best in their players. Lets hope 1 day our team can get their sh*t together. |

Your statements may have some truths to it but they still own our Redskins. We get bit*h slapped everytime we face the G-Men. You think JC got sacked against Philly it will get ugly against the G-Men pass rush. |
Re: Week 8: Around the NFL
The G-Men suck. The Eagles went in on them hard. Interesting how they laid down for the Eagles. With a coach ligh Coughlin? The great conservative culture he has established in their locker room? A great GM? and great FO? How does your team just lay down. My Redskins don't lay down. They are confused. They are foul ups bloops and blunders they don't wear skirts.

I never said anything about the Skins. We're terrible. Hell, KC owns us. I'm just saying the Giants aren't very good. Losing Spags was obviously a big hit to that defense. |
Re: Week 8: Around the NFL
Come to think of it, I haven't seen Giantone around here for a while. Hmmm, I wonder why.

They did just win the SB not too long ago and have been one of the best 5 teams in the NFL over the last decade. Let's not call them out for one game. The Eagles are pretty good. Lot's of weapons and a very good qb. The Giants have problems in the secondary when facing elite teams. They need to get that corrected. Maybe we can trade them CR for a pick? |
Re: Week 8: Around the NFL
Giants may be in a skid but it's hard to see them not getting it turned around. Still a lot of ball to go. Way too early to write anyone off or crown a champ.

Hey Matty, did you get my PM? |
Re: Week 8: Around the NFL
I guess I would like the Giants to win the NFC East at the end of it all. Well, I'd actually like the Redskins to do it, but the chance of rattling off four wins in a row to get back into it are, well, not worth looking at. But I think the division winner in the East probably won't hit 10 wins, and if they do, then probably just 10.

Yeah, I was watching that game with a DOLPHINS fan, so I had to tell him what I thought about Jason Taylor and his joke of a season with us, after he scored. :D |
Owen Daniels done for the year. Tough break (no pun intended) for the Texans
My fantasy team too, but luckily I have Vernon Davis as a backup on that team. Had Cooley on my other teams, so it is a tough TE year for me. :pffff: |

I don't think the Giants dominated us, like Philly dominated them on Sunday. |

Absolutely not. If not for Osi's fumble recovery for a TD, we would have won. Our record looks bad and so does our offense, but we've been IN every game this season, even the Eagles game was close at the end for us. We may not win, but we're competitive and have not been blown out this season. We've lost by: Wk 1 - 6 Wk 2 - WON by 2 Wk 3 - 5 Wk 4 - WON by 3 Wk 5 - 3 Wk 6 - 8 Wk 7 - 10 (Damn Rabach, should have been 3) |

A team like the Giants has done what they were supposed to, beat up bad teams. Still, there were big expectations from them, and I just don't see it happening from them. I still think the Cowboys are a suspect team, the only good team they've beaten has been Atlanta. Looks like the Iggles will take the division again this year, but with the likes of the Saints and Minny, I don't see any NFC East playoff team moving past the first round (unless they get lucky and get to play whatever crappy NFC West division winner). |
Re: Week 8: Around the NFL
Giants will be all right but seeing them get worked brings me pleasure.
|
Re: Week 8: Around the NFL
Dallas' offense might be better w/out TO. They've been rolling the last two weeks.
|
Re: Week 8: Around the NFL
Any offense can be more "Romo Friendly" in October and November lets see how things go in December.
|
Re: Week 8: Around the NFL
Gregg Williams D strikes again for another Pick-6. For those counting, the Saints have 5 INT returns for TDs and 14 picks overall. We don't even have 5 picks on the season, much less any TD's, although Hall came close for one.
|
Re: Week 8: Around the NFL
For fantasy purposes I REALLY need Roddy White to friggin do something here.
|
Re: Week 8: Around the NFL
The Saints are an UNREAL football team in all phases this year. I expect them if they stay healthy to be in Miami this year competing for the Super Bowl.

Re: Week 8: Around the NFL
I could see the Saints and the Ravens..or Minni and the Ravens.

I think the Saints are clearly the class of the NFC. Colts or Patriots from the AFC I think. |

The dude is the best DC in the game...it's nothing short of amazing what he's done w/ that unit in less than a year. |

They may be the class, but anything can happen in one game. And I think pound for pound, the Vikes match up well with the Saints. |

I agree the Vikes match up well with the Saints in the NFC. However if the Saints can get homefield throughout, I think they're NFC Champs for sure. |

Saints are going to be awfully tough to beat if they get home field. There's still a lot of football left though. I tell you what, the Giants sneak into the playoffs and they're a totally different team. |
Re: Week 8: Around the NFL
I'm just sitting here watching the Saints and something just seemed familiar about how they move up and down the field and spread the ball around.
They remind of the old San Diego Chargers under Dan Fouts and Don Coryell. Different system, but very similiar weapons at the same positions. |
