this is the same bs that laron has been doing all year, he has a decent game and goes and runs his f-ing mouth. williams has always had shaky hands and had cracked ribs a few weeks back. laron needs to keep his damn mouth shut and play football. if he gets a int or a sack then he can do his bs arm crossed i'm the shit stance, but after making a play he should make in the first place walk your sorry ass back to the huddle, and stop acting like a punk ass, cause you are just gonna cost us another penalty for taunting jackass

I thought before yesterday's game, Landry was the weak link in the secondary. Now I am thinking differently - I think Rogers is the weak link. There wasn't any big gains that was given up against the secondary on any one play yesterday. I think mainly because Rogers wasn't out there a majority of the game.

Kareem Moore needs to step up as a FS then Landry can play SS. Horton, Landry, and Doughty all seem to be better fits at SS, in my opinion. We don't have a natural free safety. Moore could be that guy

I've given up on Landry. It looks to me like his brother should give him some advice, unless Landry is trying to get traded to another team.

Alot of people have been saying this for some time now. Don't you think that Blache can see the value of playing Laron closer to the line of scrimmage?

You would think so. Most of us do. I thought they had talked about how well Moore was playing before the season started and we might see it this year.

bust = no way.

get him back to his natural position next year PLEASE.

and u'll all love Laron again.

piss poor attempt at tackling turner angers anyone, it's a mistake, lets hope he corrects it.

that is all.
I agree with you on this one. Way too early to know if he is a bust. If you looked at Sean Taylor from the 06 season, even though he made the Pro Bowl as an alternate he and the secondary were being beat regularly in the deep half of the field. Was Sean Taylor a bust? No, he came back the next year and he was able to get some help because we got rid of Archuletta and drafted Landry. Horton had looked bad at times this year. I felt like he had actually regressed. In addition , I feel like Doughty has played a lot better this year. He has really improved from where he was in 07.

Obviously, nobody has threatened his playing time. I am so done with Landry taking crappy angles, then the few times that he's is in position to make a play, he leaves his feet, and glances off the ball carrier, who gains 20 more yards after Landry's whiff. This guy has become a joke as a safety drafted in the Top Ten overall.

If I were the coach of the defense Landry wouldn't even be starting. He's such a disappointment, as everyone else has said. Maybe we can trade and get an offensive lineman for Landry.

That seems to be a team-wide problem.

I hope our next coach is a hard-butt who says that each player must earn their role and means it.

Although, I think us fans seriously underrate his contribution to this defense because he's only on the T.V. feed when he's screwing up. Back in the first half of the season when Landry played 30 yards off the LOS, he was a sideline to sideline threat, who could be manipulated by the eyes of the quarterback, but had to be accounted for on every deep pass. His impact on the game never showed up on tape when that was the case.

What Landry needs is a complementary safety who is the complete package, knows how to play zone coverage (unlike Doughty, who can only play man), and can play the free safety in certain packages.

Someone like unrestricted free-agent-to-be...Ryan Clark. (Or Darren Sharper, if Grilliams lets him walk for big bucks)

Re: Landry is now a bust!

Landry is so far down the list of concerns it is comical. He played like an all pro in the Dallas game.

I know he is inconsistent but the gap between him and all of the other safeties on our team is bigger than Strahan's teeth.

Need I remind everyone that he is a key component to one of the top secondaries in football.

This is a good point too. Hall is our best corner now. Rogers has regressed and Hall's play has improved.

Hall is not anywhere close to the top of our problems, either.

Maybe I am wrong but I don't recall seeing Hall get toasted like Smoot and Rogers have repeatedly recently. Usually Hall is in the picture when his guy catches it and if Hall is in the picture there is always a chance he comes down with it.

even if landry's contributions "are not easily viewed on tv", he still needs to tackle. thats all i ask, tackle people when you get close to them. thats it. he is playing like garbage and needs to wake up.

exactly.. at least superman and put your arms out so that you can jerk him down while you go sailing if the hit doesn't do it on its own

bad angles and too many knockout attempts.. he thinks he's king shit every time he's the 2nd guy in on a tackle already being made.. after a 1st down yesterday he was still in the face of the guy for a few seconds before getting up

I think that it's been well demonstrated that he has a bad attitude between that, not showing up for public performances, saying stupid shit like roy williams was scared after the dallas game that we lost, etc

I know that they said they wanted Landry to be more of a big play guy this year but maybe they should pull back from that... the kid obviously needs to be coached up some more, I feel like they're just saying oh he's Landry he's fine
With 11 minutes, 30 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter and the Redskins holding an eight-point lead, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb connected with wide receiver Jason Avant over the middle. Landry lined Avant up for a big hit, but the Eagles' receiver bounced off and sprinted down the field for a 46-yard gain that moved the Eagles to the Redskins' 44-yard line.

"He made a great catch," Landry said. "I bounced off. You seen it like I saw it. He just made a great play."

The play helped spark the Eagles' game-tying drive, but when asked if he wished he had done something differently Landry was noncommittal.

"I mean, I was just trying to make a play," Landry said. "It wasn't my responsibility. I was just at the right place at the right time when he made the catch."
It's could be called the "Landry standard" for all I care. Has nothing to do with Hall. It's defined as the standard given to players who Blache views as an integral part of our future, and how they don't have to worry about getting examples made out of them. They basically play by a different set of rules than players like Horton and Rogers, who are on a different "show me" standard for their play.

The ironic part is that Blache's opinion of our future has no relevance, and he should be treating all players the same, because that's what's actually in the best interest of this franchise.

It's not wrong to be critical of those who are unfairly critical of players on the Redskins (I do this with people who are unfairly critical of the QB all the time), but I doubt you can find even one instance where I have been overtly unfair to either Hall or Landry. You can go look it up, but you won't find it.
I love how people want to dismantle the one part of our team that we excel at.
With Tryon's INT, we now have 7 of them forced in 11 games, which is tied for 27th in the league.

Hall accounts for more than half of those, but I guess we still have difference definitions of excellence.

"unfairly critical" is such a subjective term
"unfairly critical" is such a subjective term
Zing.
Personally, I'm glad we have someone in our secondary that gets turnovers
As am I. Is it really all that hard to find someone who will do this though? I mean, we're paying Hall close to $8 million/year. If we decided to make our 4th round pick next year someone who could pair with Barnes and Tryon who had great ball skills and simple adequacy in coverage, someone on par with, say: Dominique Rogers-Cromartie, could that not be done? I think that kind of player is freely available.

I've come to realize I was wrong about Asante Samuel in the offseason, a lot of his interceptions are of the Ed Reed style--he makes plays when plays aren't necessarily there to be made, and I underestimated his coverage numbers. Hall, though, is exactly who he's been his entire career. I don't think he needs to be ripped for being that player, but he's not aggressive and doesn't ever challenge receivers. It's in no way unfair to make that observation.

Mostly, we've forced a lot more fumbles than we've recovered. But we've forced some bad passes with the pass rush, and have either dropped it (linebackers, looking at you), or just haven't been in position to make a play.

We're still trying to figure out this zone coverage thing. It seems like such a foreign concept to some of the defensive players, but we simply don't have the personnel to play man anymore.
