Safe to say Hall got the last laugh with the INT |
Re: 2010 HBO Hard Knocks?
Last year, I was kinda rooting for the Jets to finally overtake the Patriots in that division because I hate New England (the team, not the region).
This show is making me hate the Jets now. But then again, when they seem to go out of the way to bring in people like Cromartie and Holmes, to add to a team with malcontents like Revis...led by a man like Rex Ryan, it seems to say a lot about the organization from the top and all the way down. It's like they're trying to out-thug the Bengals and Cowboys. |

I went back a couple times to try to figure out what AH said in response. I think it was something to the effect of "yeah, they're killing me" I think. |
Re: 2010 HBO Hard Knocks?
Seems that show likes to film the teams with the most bad personalities...which is good strategically for an entertainment perspective on HBO.
Twice with the Cowboys, the Bengals, the Ravens (they had a bad image with Ray Lewis at one point), Chiefs with LJ... Who's next? I think the Raiders are due...the Patriots would probably fit their template. Vikings would be interesting with the Favre perspective. |

Who are their bad personalities? Looking at their roster they don't seem different than any other team. No way the Patriots do it with how tight lipped Belicheat is on things. |
Re: 2010 HBO Hard Knocks?
^ Yeah, that's a given. He can tape others...we can't tape him.
Besides, that show would blow his "Tom Brady is on injury report again this week" game. |
Re: 2010 HBO Hard Knocks?
I wouldn't rule out the Skins for next year.
I gotta say I really like Rex Ryan. But something about their GM rubs me the wrong way.
Rex Ryan is entertaining, Tenenbaum comes across as non-genuine, like he doesn't give a shit about the player unless he's a star. |

Holmes smokes weed. Big deal. It's the NFL. Every team has some guys with issues. Bringing in Larry Johnson after he's had a few runs in w/ putting his hands on women doesn't look too good either. And we've got the biggest malcontent in the NFL. If we had signed Holmes would it have bothered you? Knowing what I know now I think we should've tried. |

Why does Tenenbaum have RR pillows in his office? Anybody? |
Re: 2010 HBO Hard Knocks?

Shahanan said he was offered it both with the Broncos and Redskins, and said no both times. Billick said the reason he had the Ravens do it, and suspects other teams do it, was to show people all the hard work they have to go through and that they're not just a bunch of uneducated thugs smashing into each other (after seeing Cromartie struggled to remember his kids' names, that idea may have backfired for the Jets) |

Re: 2010 HBO Hard Knocks?
i'm sorry for my "great" post earlier in the thread. i was trying to express that i enjoy the show very much, and couldn't wait to see our skins on it.
i would not want the redskins to ever "host" this show. they show too much as far as behind the scenes. |
Re: 2010 HBO Hard Knocks?
Recorded this weeks episode of Hard Knocks and just finished watching it.
It is a good inside look into the players and some of the back ground info, but since I do not praticularly like the team on this years version, i have not watched. After watching this episode, it just reminded me why I don't watch. If the Skins ever make it on, I will, but until then i will not watch this show. BTW Jason Taylor, learn how to get to the damn stadium on your own. Following GPS blindly and not at least having some type of idea as to what you are doing is pretty dumb. |

(love that car BTW) Learn how to do it with out the assist of your car. GPS is nice but I mean come on man, you are like 36-37 years old. Learn how to get there before you even get on the road. Jason- there are these things out there called maps. They have lines on them that represent roads. You find the roads you need to go to to get to your destination. They are very easy to understand. :soapbox: |

What about New Jersey? If he's in New York I would have to assume that he's lost, especially considering that team HQ and the stadium are located in Jersey :D |
Re: 2010 HBO Hard Knocks?
Got me there, I was thinking of when he was late getting out to Hofstra
|
Re: 2010 HBO Hard Knocks?
Yeah Matty the Giants stadium is right off the Jersey Turnpike. There are only like 22 exits off the turnpike in Jersey.
If you are starting a new job, would you not find out exactly where your office was before you head in? Even if you didn't and were late the first time, would you not get your bearings by the second time you went in? |

I thought he was living in NYC(i think) but you are right they practice in FlorhemPark NJ very close to Livingston, Madison and Morristown NJ,he needs to hit the Lincon Tunnel and then take the NJTP to RT #78 west. |

Good opportunity to ask you something (Matty as well). If you're from New York how do you decide which football team to root for? Is it usually as simple as who's doing better when you start watching football or is there some sort of territory thing? My friend thought it was something along the lines of people from Jersey rooting for the Jets and people from New York rooting for the Giants. Better yet why are you a Giants fan instead of a Jets fan? Baseball seems a little simpler since the Yanks and Mets have different stadiums located in different parts of the city. |
Re: 2010 HBO Hard Knocks?
Giants have always been the main draw, the Jets have always been the kid brother. Sort of like the Yankees/Mets. I don't think you can draw any hard conclusions as far as geographic areas. You find Giants/Jets fans everywhere around the city and Long Island. Upstate is still mostly Giants, Jets 2nd, some Bills, some Patriots.

.
With me anyway I was born a Blue blood (get it...)my dad raised us Giants Fans it's all we knew.My Dad has had seats for the Giants since 1949 and the Polo grounds in Brooklyn ,generaly most Giants are like myself long time family of fans 2nd and third generation of fans where as a jet fan ...when they first came into the league were fair weather fans and couldn't get to see a Giant game so they jumed on board the Jet fan base. The jet fan base is alot younger then the Giants or at least it was until this new stadium, people like my family were forced out by PSL's....less real fans and more corperate people, hope that helps.:food-smil |

Re: 2010 HBO Hard Knocks?
Good episode last night. I wish they would have given a little more detail regarding what made the Revis deal turn around suddenly, because they made it look like it was a dead deal when Ryan stormed out of the room all ticked off.
|
Re: 2010 HBO Hard Knocks?
Yeah, I watched last night to, just because of the interest in the Revis deal, but they did not get into the way the deal went down much at all.
I also thought that it was reported that Rex went down there with Jets management but they did not cover that at all either. From the way it was reported it seemed as though that they went down and made the deal, but in watching the show the deal was actually done over the phone. |

Anyone else think that Mike Tannenbaum always seems so awkward and nervous when cutting guys? I know it's not an easy thing to do but he just seems to make it worse.

Yes, and also so full of sh*t when cuttin them.

So true I liked how the TE was like I am coming for you (if he ends up another team). We were doing here in the office as joke, role-playing, we thought the funniest thing is they always cut the guy before he even gets to sit down. Shit if you cut me before I sit down, I am not sitting I am like see ya. |
