Yeah, April 22 cannot come quickly enough! Three more weeks of hype, speculation, and wild guesses.

Speaking of wild guesses, what about Berry, JC, Carter, and next year's #2 for Bradford?

If this were to happen, I'm thinking we'd keep Berry and trade Landry.

I still find it funny that all these people are coming up with these Vinny'esque trades for skill position players. Maybe Cerrato should have never left in this case.

Well if Cerrato were here, you know the team would throw the house out the window to get whatever QB Snyder would want. So theses crazy trade proposals would be more likely.

It sounds more like a swap, they draft Bradford, we draft Berry and then we exchange them?

Ok maybe not, this is what happened in the Rivers/Manning swap:

"The top pick of the draft hasn't been traded since 2004, when San Diego shipped Eli Manning to the New York Giants. The cost was high then -- first-round pick Phillip Rivers, plus a third-rounder in 2004 and first- and fifth-round picks in 2005. You can bet that if the Rams are listening to offers for the No. 1 pick in this year's draft, the asking price will be similarly high. (The Redskins hold the No. 4 overall pick, the same one the Giants held in '04 when they traded for Manning.)"

That's a lot of f'ing picks.

Hahahaha well said man. Most skins fans would like nothing but big names players I see.
Here's what everyone should consider, in 5 years when Eric Berry, Russell Okung, Suh, McCoy,etc. have all potentially become star players at their respectful positions everyone will understand why you don't make stupid trades like this.
Let the Rams take Bradford and try to change the worst team in the league into anything past a 4-12 team. It juts won't happen and maybe in 3-4 years we can consider picking him up after his other shoulder get's damaged.

Can anyone think of some notable trades in the top layer of the draft for a QB?

Phillip Rivers and Eli Manning come to mind, of course.

Michael Vick and LaDainian Tomlinson... I know a lot of people don't like Michael Vick, but he DID help the Falcons win a lot of games.

Mark Sanchez? Jury's out on that one.

Unless their running game falls apart, Mark Sanchez has the chance of being successful with the Jets for years to come.

Yes. Hence my attempt to inject players such as JC or Carter into the deal, to lessen the draft pick blow.

Hey, I'm not saying that we should do it. I'm just trying to explore someone else's scenario. Since the Lambs need a QB, it seems reasonable to include JC in a projected deal. And if Shanny is madly in love with Bradford, I'd rather him give up Carter than a draft choice.

If the Rams are smart, they would ask for picks. No one is going to give up a number one for a two picks and players.

Yeah I never really considered the Rams doing something like that but you really never know. Let's just hope they draft Bradford and keep the lions taking their DT of choice and the Bucs not taking Berry. I think we'll have lots of say with our draft pick and get a lot of phone calls on April 22nd.

That may be true.

I am a fan of Bradford but I'm not sure that I am a fan of giving away the farm to draft him, especially since it is easy to just take Okung and feel satisfied with the pick.

While Bradford might be worthy of being picked first, he's definitely not a let's give up the farm, can't miss prospect.

I don't see the Skins parting with any future picks to move up and draft Bradford. If he doesn't fall to us, I just don't see him becoming a Redskin. But...as someone else said, you never know.

I'll concede that point. Michael Vick really did a lot for the Falcons early in his career. However he was a little faster and D-Coordinators outside of Tampa didn't know how to gameplan for him. Once they learned how to force him to stay back and pass he became average. If Vick ever wants to be a great NFL QB he's going to have to evolve and learn to read NFL defenses, at least at a level much more advanced then he is now.

Re: 2010 NFL Off-Season Rumors and Reports (Week 4)

From the Redskins Fan Mailbag. I tend to agree with how Gary sees it going down.

Question: Do you think the Redskins will trade down in the draft? We have a good quarterback in Jason Campbell and I believe Mike Shanahan is smart enough to realize that. I know the 49ers are desperately in need of a franchise quarterback and they have the 13th and 17th pick in the draft. They might be interested in trading up to get Sam Bradford or Jimmy Clausen with the fourth pick.

-- Andrew S.

Gary: If Bradford and left tackle Russell Okung are both off the draft board when the Redskins pick at No. 4, then I believe the Redskins will explore trading down. Multiple teams should have interest in trading up for one of the two elite defensive tackles, Gerald McCoy or Ndamukong Suh, in the draft. San Francisco would appear to be a good target as a trade partner with the Redskins, whether they want a quarterback or not. However, I’m not sure the 49ers would be willing to yield both of their first-round picks. How about one of their two first-round picks and their second-rounder, at No. 49 overall?

This is a great scenario for the Redskins if Bradford is off the board at #4. I would be ecstatic if we landed Bradford at 4 or this deal yielding 2 O-lineman with our first 3 picks.

Re: 2010 NFL Off-Season Rumors and Reports (Week 4)

I'm just hoping we don't take a quarterback. The fact that both of them are reaches at 4 aside, both of their faces are immensely distracting. Bradford looks like he's got downs and Clausen's face is squished. that points not relevant at all, i just thought it would be worth discussion.

SF's #13 and #49 isn't enough to justify trading them the #4 pick. I wouldn't want to trade down that far in the first round.

I might accept Cleveland's #7 pick and both of their 3rd round picks or a first and a second round pick from either Oakland (8 and 39) or Buffalo (9 and 41).

Bradford has the unique ability to block for himself. This will give us the chance to put 10 recievers on the field and send 5 out on any given play with the other 5 setting up behind the line of scrimage.

Yes, I would be happy with Okung at #4 if Bradford is off the board. I think I had somewhat of a Freudian slip in my post where I had already given the premise of SB being gone.
I do think that IF Bradford is there at #4, we should take him. I do think if SB is NOT there at #4, we should try and trade down FIRST. I like Okung, but if we can get 2 O-lineman and an additional stud player in a position of need in the first 2 rounds, that seems to be more valuable than Okung. I would love to snag a Javid Best, Rolando McClain, or even the LB Spikes from UF with that 3rd pick via the trade down.

Well, Detroit has a tackle who they like, but if they take Okung will move to G. Their LT is relatively solid, but their G is not. The reason they have looked at Okung is to move the T to G and strengthen two positions with one pick. If they strengthen the G, than they will not take a LT and push their starter to a backup role. So, in fact, it does mean something.

Aaron Wilson, of the National Football Post, reports South Florida CB Jerome Murphy said the Baltimore Ravens and Washington Redskins have had a lot of contact with him. Murphy said, "I like Baltimore. They showed a lot of interest. I've met with them and I had a real good feeling with them and the Redskins. I like other teams, too, but you get a certain vibe with the Ravens and the Redskins."

I think there is no way they pass on the DT. They brought the DT from St. Louis, and Schwartz will want to have him pair up and mentor a young stud. Then they can pick up Pouncey, or any of several other C/G options with the 34th pick.

A nod to SS33's mock draft, it really made me look at the other teams from their point of view. It was a great exercise.
