Re: Mcnabb to Washington?
Getting McNabb would be a huge mistake. I just hope this is just BA f'ing around with other teams. I'm still amazed at how so many fans still think we're one player away from contending. We need to rebuild (starting with the oline) and stop wasting picks on what seems like a quick fix.
Andy Reid is looking to find the best situation for McNabb and I can understand that since he thinks so highly of him. However, I don't think it will be here......neither do I think they're convinced he can still perform at the level they expect from him otherwise they wouldn't be interested in trading him. McNabb is nowhere close to being the QB he was before suffering injury two years in a row. His legs were always his gratest strength, he's not the threat to run as much anymore, and he's demonstrated he's not totally effective from the pocket. We need to stop drafting QB's and then cutting them. We would be better served drafting a position player instead of the Brennans' and Palmers who have little or no chance of ever playing. |
I guess this had nothing to do with our "sorry ass" O line protecting him?
Right. it DIDN'T! Jason Campbell was punished throught the game. He threw the ball away as he got smashed a few times and when he did make completions, he ususally didn't get to see them since he was on his butt with a saint on him. you can't say the Saints happened to have a bad game cuz Brees threw over 400 yards. You CAN say that they had better field position and our defense did their job. You CAN say that we had BAD field position and no punt returns. As for the Barry Sanders analogy... you are retarded to use aguably the greatest runningback of all time as an analogy, but sure I'll bite. Lets give him the same win-loss column and see where he stands. lets blame HIM for them not making the playoffs. if you blame him the way you do JC, then he and Barry Sanders both fall into the "Good, but not quite enough" category. Nice try |
Re: Mcnabb to Washington?
Great idea look how it lines up:
Eagles Get: An unproven quarterback whose red zone interceptions will cause the Philly fans to boo him as if it's their career. Redskins Get: The only quarterback less clutch than ours who is over the hill and should be in the afc. |
I would LOVE McNabb on this team. He could easily play another 4-5 seasons and still be pretty damn good. You've got to be high to not like this potential move. Doubt it will happen, but I would gladly give up a 2nd rounder for him.
Okung with #4, McNabb for our 2nd rounder = no brainer.
But you do you think that we're close enough to fielding a Super Bowl quality team within the next few seasons? I think he could play a few years but by the time we're ready to compete I think we're looking at him on the decline. |
Re: Mcnabb to Washington?
I'm sure there will be a pick at #37 who can be very productive for this team for many years. I wouldn't give it up for McNabb. Good to see you too 44ever! Welcome back buddy.

You think it's going to take more than 4-5 years? It doesn't take that long to turn a team around, and it's not like this team is totally void of talent. |
Re: Mcnabb to Washington?
This is the worst idea ever. WE ARE NOT ONE PLAYER AWAY FROM COMPETING. The Vikings are the only team that makes sense.
I agree, any other year I wouldve supported this trade, but we really need to get a young QB for the future. |

Yeah, we gotta get some young studs on this squad, and the 37th pick SHOULD yield us one. |
Re: Mcnabb to Washington?
No McNabb. There is no reason to skip over Okung/a lineman in the first round. There will be plenty of QBs for us to snag in the second....maybe why we have been meeting with so many of them. If we don't have a line to protect a rookie, or any, QB then what's the point? Just be a different jason campbell running for his life (but hopefully smart enough to not run out of bounds before throwing the ball away...twice)

Okung with #4, McNabb for our 2nd rounder = no brainer.
McNabb could be a good quarterback for the Redskins the next few years, just as Campbell could take the Bills to the playoffs the next three seasons. But neither is a likely outcome of a potential acquisition. McNabb at age 34, is likely to decline severely in the next few years. I mean, look at Jake Delhomme. At age 33, that guy was coming off of UCL surgery and posting record numbers on the 2008 Panthers. In 2009, he melted down. No one would have predicted that Delhomme was going to get so bad so fast, but a lot of people figured that the $20 million guaranteed extension for his performance was preposterous at the time. I would like this move as a one year move a lot better than I woudl like it for the future seasons, but with Campbell already under contract, it's a moot point. McNabb isn't coming here on a one year basis, and anything more than that would be typically foolish. |
Re: Mcnabb to Washington?
I don't believe the team shouldn't be able to compete in 2010 but:
1) We're not one player away, we need multiple quality additions to make the leap. 2) McNabb isn't a difference maker, and he never really has been. This is really the end of story. This team needs a difference maker, and it should look to use the 37th pick on someone who can assist us, not to make McNabb and the Eagles happy. 3) The last thing we should be doing is considering giving our rivals a proven insurance policy quarterback if Kolb goes out there and wets the bed. It's in our best interest for McNabb to go to Oakland and Kolb to sink or swim as Eagles starter. It's for this reason that, even if we could get McNabb for Campbell straight up (a good trade if not with the Eagles), we're only hurting ourselves by doing it. |
Re: Mcnabb to Washington?
I would take a 3rd rounder for JC and then give up a second for McNabb . And still use the 1st and 3rd round picks on a tackle and a guard.

Re: Mcnabb to Washington?
McNabb couldn't get the job done with a stellar WR corp this past season and he was behind a pretty good O line also. Shanny needs to build HIS team with fresh young faces. If we do acquire McNabb, with the FA RB acquisitions we have just completed, I am going to really wonder if things in DC really have changed much at all. THank God the Parker deal is only for one year. THat tells me RB in the draft will be priority #1 in 2011.

Re: Mcnabb to Washington?
The only reason I would like to see Mcnabb here is the fear that no matter who else we pick up, they will just ride the bench as I watch JC throw it all away again.
Mcnabb would not agree unless he was a guaranteed starter. And I would feel more confident with him at QB. Some will argue that Shanahan has no invested interest in JC... But Snyder might. Thats what worries me. I hope Im wrong. |
Re: Mcnabb to Washington?
McNabb is definitely a top notch QB, but I don't think you give up a second rounder for him at this point in his career. It would be the same difference as where we were with Mark Brunell a couple of years ago. And while I was a Brunell apologist, I feel Campbell and maybe even...*gulp* Grossman (can't believe I just said that but anyways) are both good enough stop gaps to lead this team until we can draft a top notch QB, either in this draft of next season. This team is trying to get younger, not older. While McNabb probably could come in and make the 'skins an immediate playoff contender, how much of the future are you giving up for him? And how long, realistically is he going to play for us?
I say we keep focused on rebuilding the offensive and defensive lines, our offensive backfield (which looks like we've done a good job with that) and our defensive secondary. No denying we need a top notch QB, but I just don't believe a deal with McNabb is the way to go. With that said, look for the McNabb to be signed by five o'clock tomorrow evening..lol! |
Re: Mcnabb to Washington?
You guys are funny. The whole thing might just be to see what they want for McNabb so they can expect what to get from trading JC. Sort of an intelligence gathering operation for further use. McNabb is not the best in the league by far, and is indeed just above average like JC, and he had a much better WR corp than JC to work with. I would worry more about JC being future trade bait in the not too distant future. Look for a possible deal come draft time.
I think that this is intelligent and insightful. Thank you. |

I think the Packers DC (Donahue) who called that defense is equally available, not coincidentally. |
Re: Mcnabb to Washington?
Kurt Warner was 36 when his career got back on track. In this day and age of modern medicine more QB's will last until they're 40. Peyton Manning will obliterate Farves streak one day. Heck even Chris Chelios is playing and getting DUI's at damn near 50.

Re: Mcnabb to Washington?
The team needs to now get a LT, a 3rd down receiving back, and we are on our way to the playoffs. Brandon Marshall would look really good right now also.
