Following are interested in Jason Campbell: Buffalo, Carolina, Oakland, Jacksonville and unknown team. |
Re: Is Campbell Officially Headed Out The Door?
Schefter seems to think that there's some interest in Campbell, I'll take his info over Mosley anytime.

Re: Is Campbell Officially Headed Out The Door?
well thats the one big positive for me on this trade is that means good bye JC!
Goodbye Brennan too. You may wish JC was around WHEN McNabb gets hurt and Rexy is starting. |
Re: Is Campbell Officially Headed Out The Door?
I wonder if a trade down with our #4 and JC would be worth a lower first rounder and either a second or a third rounder.
Say what you say about JC, he'd be a solid back up and a good (character) role model for a young QB.
There's no reason to do that. Our #4 pick is already worth a first round and a second round pick (or more), without including JC in the deal, to anyone from Oakland on down. If there is more than one team who wants Clausen at #4, then we'll be sitting pretty if we want to trade down. I'm betting that JC is worth a third round pick on his own. If Okung is available at #4, I expect the Skins to take him. If not, I expect them to trade down and pick up an additional second round pick. Then, if we could get a third for JC, we could have a very good draft. |
Re: Is Campbell Officially Headed Out The Door?
I think there will be a number of significant moves made by this team over the next month:
think Campbell gets moved before noon today / by the end of the day at the latest. I think Landry gets moved by the draft. I think, if we can receive a top 45 pick, Haynesworth will be traded by the draft. I think Brandon Marshall will be on the team before May. I think if a team offers a 4th round pick for Portis, he will be traded. I think Cooley or Davis will be traded before the draft. |

Re: Is Campbell Officially Headed Out The Door?
The Problem is, Jason wasn't really a starter. He was a quarterback who just happened to be starting. The rest of the league knew that.

He still put up better numbers than half the QBs in this league, even in a crap situation. He can start in this league. |
Re: Is Campbell Officially Headed Out The Door?
I hope we draft all o-line this year and take Jake Locker next year as our QB of the future.
same, and I think Shanahan maybe thinking the same thing. I think we shouldn't waste any one of our precious picks on a QB, when we could get more OL, DL, LB's, CB's, and FS's. |

agreed. Cooley, JC, and 'los for add'l draft picks and drop fro #4 and nab a 2nd rounder with a lower 1st. Could end up being a great draft, considering. BTW, I would be upset if we move Haynesworth. I think he is a great player, and will do better this year with a good coaching staff. |

Re: Is Campbell Officially Headed Out The Door?
Here's the thing. Campbell didnt win us games as a starter, and now people are already wishing for McNabb to get hurt so that Campbell can play??? thats crazy

Re: Is Campbell Officially Headed Out The Door?
You really didn't need that 2nd cup of coffee.
Perhaps I should explain myself a bit:
i think Campbell gets moved before noon today / by the end of the day at the latest.
Campbell's presence here is a distraction the team doesn't need. It would be ideal for him to be traded before McNabb's introductory press conference today. That way, the focus can be on the future of this team and not, "what happens to campbell?"
I think Landry gets moved by the draft.
It seems he's been on the market for a while and now word has gotten out that we tried to trade him (possibly in a package) for McNabb. He knows he's not wanted here. it'll be hard to expect him to give this team 100% going forward.
I think, if we can receive a top 45 pick, Haynesworth will be traded by the draft.
i've been saying for months that the team would try to get rid of him and now its been confirmed. I don't see Haynesworth taking the news that the team tried to trade him well. His contract has already been restructured to be more cap-friendly for the rest of 2010 going forward. Any contending team that needs a DT should be interested. I would not be surprised to see him traded to Tampa Bay or return to Tennessee. I think the Giants are also a very distinct possibility.
I think Brandon Marshall will be on the team before May.
Whats the point in signing McNabb if he doesnt have anyone to throw to? I think Marshall could get traded to Denver for a 2011 2nd rounder or a player/package of players.
I think if a team offers a 4th round pick for Portis, he will be traded.
This has probably been true ever since Shanahan and Allen took over.
I think Cooley or Davis will be traded before the draft.
We need to shore up our offensive line before signing McNabb - its become an even greater need now. Now that we don't have a 2nd round pick, having two pass-catching TEs is simply a luxury we can't afford. i can see either of them going for a low 2nd rounder (or a starting o-lineman). I didn't mention it earlier, but now that we've brought buchanon in, we are fairly deep at CB. This draft doesnt have a single elite cornerback. Even with the dropsies, Rogers >>> Joe Haden. I think he's gone if we can get a 2nd rounder for him or perhaps even a high 3rd (or a starting o-lineman) |
Re: Is Campbell Officially Headed Out The Door?
^who wants mcnabb to get hurt?
|
Re: Is Campbell Officially Headed Out The Door?
That's just a lot of trade action in a league where big trades aren't that common. We'll see.
|
Re: Is Campbell Officially Headed Out The Door?
^ then again not many people saw this big trade coming..

Yes, but there were lots of rumors swirling about it. |
^who wants mcnabb to get hurt?
No one WANTS him to now that he's a Redskin, but his history indicates that chances are, he will at some point. If we don't somehow upgrade the line beyond just picking Okung, chances are very good that we'll see Rex on the field (is JC is not the backup, which looks unlikely). Look how badly Campbell was beaten last year. I don't think McNabb could have survived that. |

Who said that? |
Re: Is Campbell Officially Headed Out The Door?
I've never believed Jason Campbell could get us a 2nd or 3rd by himself. But what about this:
Suppose it's a package deal with someone like Seattle (picking #6), Cleveland (#7), Oakland (#8), Buffalo (#9), or Jacksonville (#10) to switch places with us at #4, along with Campbell for a 2nd or 3rd? More plausible that way? |

I really wouldn't be surprised if our offensive line actually looked decent with McNabb. 1. Teams will actually have to fear the deep ball. McNabb made Pinkston and Stallworth legitimate deep threats. 2. McNabb can read defenses better than Campbell and make quicker decisions. |
Re: Is Campbell Officially Headed Out The Door?
Campbell and Colt are history in DC. Hopefully the Skins can get a decent pick or an offensive lineman for Campbell. Colt will be cut to relinquish #5.

They like to roll the QB out and line up WRs in a straight line of vision for the QB at various depths. I also feel Campbell would do very well in this system. |
Re: Is Campbell Officially Headed Out The Door?
First off I dont like the trade.
But i dont see the reason why people keep saying Colt will be cut? Obviously McNabb has a injury prone history and we need to hedge ourselves by having a QB with some familiarity with the system to step in and take over (Rex Grossman). But unless we end up drafting a QB where does the thought come from that Colt will be cut? I just don’t get it? |
Re: Is Campbell Officially Headed Out The Door?
The thought comes from Shanahan wanting someone to groom at the #3 spot. Plus Colt was close to being cut last year.

Re: Is Campbell Officially Headed Out The Door?
Shanahan likes mobile quarterbacks who can make plays on the run along with making plays in the pocket. Colt's mobility is ehhhh....not there as he's slower than JC.
|
Re: Is Campbell Officially Headed Out The Door?
Can't make chicken salad out of chicken shit. Trade all of em.
|
Re: Is Campbell Officially Headed Out The Door?
I thought Colt had decent mobility.
As of right now our second draft pick is in the 4th round. I realize that this is likely to change and we will likely make some trades or trade up from 4 but i still cant see us spending a pick in the first 4 rounds on a QB., theres just too many immediate other needs. I also feel like you have a real good chance of drafting a "project" QB late or in FA and putting them on the PS and not worrying about someone snatching them up. Also McNabb is a solution at QB (while healthy) for the next 2-4 years. So nows not the "have to" time to draft a second, third or fourth round QB that will wait in the wings getting ready. We can draft a qb next year and still have him wait 1-3 years while getting ready. I just dont see Colt going anywhere. |

Still a chance he may come back, but they have given Segal the green light to initiate talk trades involving JC. |
Re: Is Campbell Officially Headed Out The Door?
Campbell and Colt will both be gone. McNabb starts, Rex is the veteran/familiar with the offense backup, late draft pick (5th rounder) will be the #3/QB of the future
JC will be traded by draft weekend. Colt could even be traded (for like a 7th rounder) this summer if some team gets desperate |
Re: Is Campbell Officially Headed Out The Door?
If you were Campbell, why would you want to stay here? McNabb isnt being brought in to be a backup....you might as well try to hook on with another team....
|
Re: Is Campbell Officially Headed Out The Door?
I am just not comfortable with the notion that Grossman could be our backup. Might as well bring Frerotte back!
