Well, if its an arguement about T.O., here is my view -

He is heads and shoulders better than any receiver on this roster, bar none.
We can get him for 0 players, and for 0 draft pix, and would instantly give us a top tier wideout and a nice weapon to pair up with Thomas and Cooley. If we get the Tackles taken care of, I can see us becoming the Philly of a couple years back. Great team, but no premium wideouts to toss the rock to. (I dunno about 6 mil a year tho, slim that down to 3 1/2 - 4)
He Still can produce, and is a freakish physical specimen. 3 year deal wouldn't be unheard of, with plenty of stipulations and stock full of unguaranteed $$$ based on perforance on and off the field.

I think he wants to destroy the stigma he has given himself. He is nearing the end of his career, and wants to be remembered as a great wide out, and possibly a champion. If there is any ex cowboy i'd sign, it would be T.O. With Donovans blessing. If he thinks it will be a bad situation, then pass.
Great post, totally agree, throw him one of those contracts sort of like we gave LJ. Make it insentive (sp?) based for 3 years. If he wants a lot, then he can kick rocks.

After coming from Buffalo, McNabb probably looks like Joe Montana and DC must look like Miami to TO.
Yeah, but the truth is, you never know. The Cardinals came out of no where and damner won the Superbowl. Same for the Saints. Those teams came out of no where.

People saying we are so far away, but this is not the 2009 Skins. This is a new squad. We now have an OFFICIAL coach. Totally new coaching staff. We now have an OFFICIAL QB. That is HUGE.....

Most of the time, we were losing because of the coaching and QB. Not to mention that garbage ass oline. And we are about to start getting this oline tighted up soon. Not saying that the oline is going to be #1 in the league, but I have a feeling our oline is going to be significantly better this year after we are all said done acquiring talent.

We have two new backs, and people can talk about how old they are or whatever, but I think it is safe to say that LJ, WP and CP (if he is here) will be light years better then what we had for the last few seasons (if not further back).

Im not trying to serve kool aid, but you also have to remember that we didnt exactly get blown out every game that we lost last year neither. Our biggest problem last year was our oline and offense in general. And we are significantly addressing those areas right now.

The funny thing is that our defense held it down for us for the most part last year. They werent perfect, but they always kept us in the game. Our offense was just so horrible, they couldnt single handedly win the games. And now we are trying to f--- that up by partially converting to the 3-4. We should leave it alone. Add some aggressiveness to the playcalling, get some LBs so Orakpo can can move to the DE position for good. Throw him in at LB from time to time so confuse the offense a little bit. Thats it, we dont need to give the defense a complete face lift.
Oh no they didn't! The saints have been lighting up the scoreboard for years now. There were a Defensive Coordiator away for a SB. The head coach used HIS OWN MONEY to snag some guy name Gregg Williams. Some dumb team let him go, so the Saints now have as aggressive of a Defense as their offense and with the... CRAP! We let him go first, didn't we... Awe man... Let me stop beofre someone throws out the "He's Re-hashing" flag on me again...

When your TE's and FB's almost TRIPLE the number of receiving TD's that the WR's have for the entire season, I would think its fair to say, even IF Terrell Owens is Dropping off (like SirClintonPortis says......) he would instantly give us credibility at the position, and force people to come out of stacking the box to guard him. Shit, Our backup tight end had more touchdowns than all of our receivers, COMBINED!!!!!! We need help in that area, no matter who thinks Devin Thomas will all of a sudden part the clouds, ride into Fed Ex field on a white horse and choirs singing.

Right now, as free agency goes, regrettably, TO is the best option for us. It HAS to be looked at, and Im sure it currently is and has been for a while.

I'm sure it has. It was reported somewhere that the Skins explored it and one person at the top was not interested. I'd love to know who that one person at the top was. Allen? Snyder? I for one have a hard time thinking it's Shanahan since he tried to pick him up while in Denver, but you never know.

Mechanix544 04-09-2010 11:08 AM

Re: Did Mcnabb open the door for TO?

If that is indeed true, it might be Snyder, but something tells me a T.O. signing is right up his alley. Maybe him being the ex cowboy is just too much for a redskins owner to handle......

I never said he was at the scrub level. But he's no longer the god-tier "anything-you-do-I'll-kick-your-ass" receiver he was prior to 2008.

Re: Did Mcnabb open the door for TO?

T.O. is worth signing if we think that adding him alone will take us very far. But if he's only here a year or two why just make it to the playoffs only to have him gone again? Marshall would be better for long term, but you have to give something up for him.

I can't make my mind up on either, at this point I'm saying just stick with what we've got, keep our eyes open as the offseason goes on.

Shanahan mentioned that if a guy like Owens is available later in the offseason we'd start taking more looks.. but I wouldn't be surprised to see us get him if McNabb is trying to work them into it. I just hope that Owens doesn't think that he's automatically the number 1 coming in.

God I hope NOT. Let's bring in a 36 year old locker room cancer and further retard the development of Kelly and Thomas. That would be awesome. We're not a "player away" as they say. We already have a giant pain in the ass on defense. We need an influx of youth, not old jerks.

I'm glad Shanahan isn't biting on this one.

Its not like we decided Williams was a bad defensive coordinator, so we let him go. We decided not to hire him as a head coach, so there would have been no way to keep him here as a DC.

Ican't say i would be happy with this move. Although the last time Owens and Mcnabb played together they did make the superbowl the first year, but as we all know it did not end very well. I would think at this point in T.O.'s career he has matured to not be such a me guy, With the way that MS has handled the team thus far I would find it hard to beleive that TO could survive the Redskins plans if he did act out.

Another problem I have with this is the way that the National Media would put so much focus on our team. It creates problems and they also make up problems that do not exist. Which I for one can't stand. AH situation as an example. There is so much disinformation out there right now that it is very hard to see what is actually going on behind the scenes at Redskins Park right now.

Well, he told Ed Werder that the Redskins are not pursuing Terrell Owens. However, as you mentioned, things could change after the draft.

If we did sign Owens, it would probably just be a one year deal not unlike the one he got in Buffalo last year. My question is, would our offense really be that much better with him? I don't think he'd make us much more of a contender than we'd be without him. And then you have to consider the locker room issues. The guy is a gigantic pain in the ass. I just don't think the risk is worth the reward.

Larry Johnson, Willy Parker, Clinton Portis, Donovan McNabb, Terrell Owens... could we get a few more players with a ton of mileage? Are we trying to be the all 2005/2006 team?

GMScud 04-20-2010 01:04 PM

Werder also said "sources" told him that upgrading the WR position is a "big priority" for the team. I guess Shanny doesn't like Kelly and Thomas too much. Bummer.

I'd say apparently the issue between McNabb and T.O. is not as big as people think or both have moved on past it that they could work together again. I doubt the Skins would make such a move with out talking with McNabb and seeing if he would be able to work with the man again. Otherwise it would be a waist of time.

Plus this way he could point out to T.O. that it was he who helped get him a job again Anytime T.O. runs his mouth. LOL.

Re: Did Mcnabb open the door for TO?

I think as my second post shows McNabb knows the Skins need help at WR and T.O. is the best in FA right now that could upgrade the team. I think if the team is pushing for a playoff spot or SB bound then I'm sure they are looking into it.

As you said GMscud I heard a while ago the Skins were thinking about him and someone at the top was adament or against signing T.O. I think if it's true that everyone has to agree then maybe this was the first sign that their plan is working on how they bring in FA's and or draft players. It doesn't mean T.O. won't be here but some serious talking will need to take place.

But it does speak volumes when the leader of the team/ QB goes to upper management and says we need him you should go out and get him.

Umm, Shanahan tried to get T.O. in 2008 when he was being shopped by Dallas. He ended up with the Bills.
