Re: Brandon Marshall To DC?
Would anybody be surprised if the Skins made a trade for Marshall?
|
Re: Brandon Marshall To DC?
Albert Haynesworth, Larry Johnson, and now Brandon Marshall? Not exactly a high character crowd.
|
Re: Brandon Marshall To DC?
no, i'm expecting it.

Of course not, at the right price. If the going rate is a 1st round pick, then I would be surprised. 1st rd talent and production, certainly. But attitude and/or off the field issues make him a 2nd rounder. Maybe a 5th on top of that. But not a 4th too. A 2nd a 4th in next year's draft is mid 1st rd pick equivalent. |

No, not at all. Thats what we do. SHOCK N AWE! |

I would be shocked or startled, but would end up rationalizing it as hey, what do you expect from the redskins. The question would of course be what did we give up in exchange. |

We will not be Joe Gibbs Redskins going forward, I am pretty sure of that. MS is not a guy who values high character first. I can't prove that it is purely my opinion. |

Re: Brandon Marshall To DC?
a WR means nothing w/o an OL to protect the QB who delivers the pass to him. Just ask Calvin Johnson
|
Re: Brandon Marshall To DC?
People act as if building a team is a purely linear type of progression. First you get all your OL, then all your RBs, then all your WR. They're trying to improve the team, and WR is a spot of great need. I realize OL has priority over WR -- but that doesn't mean we should ignore WR. Give Kyle the tools he needs, we certainly don't have anything even close to an Andre Johnson on this team now.

How do you implement your offensive scheme without an OL though? Get all the skill players you want they won't be able to be effective if the average time of your plays is less than 3 seconds due to hurries and pressure to your QB. Teams need to walk before they can run. You need to see what you're good at first by giving your skill players room to operate. That's when your going to find out your offense's strengths and weaknesses and go about building your overall scheme. Also, didn't we address our WR's already in the draft two years ago? That's just a plain careless waste of value to not even give these guys a chance in this new system. |

Your stats are still wrong for one year.
B Marshall stats the last 3 seasons 2009- 101 catches 1120 yards 2008- 104 catches 1265 yards 2007- 102 catches 1120 yards
I personally find it hard to believe that he got the exact same amount of yards in two years. |

Ha ha, the ironic thing is you were underselling him. That 1,365 makes him look like a much better option. On the other hand his numbers do say that he is "regressing." And he does seem good for one suspension/benching per year. |

he has to be under contract to be traded thats why he signed it just like JC |

regressing? haha u have to be joking  going from 1200 to 1100 isnt regressing he had 10 tds in 09 and 6 in 08 and hes only 26 and not to mention his QB went from cutler to orton! |

2006 den....15.......20........309.....15.5.......71.......2 14 1 0 2007 den....16 .....102 .....1325....13.0.......68.......7 70 3 1 2008 den....15 .....104 .....1265....12.2.......47.......6 65 3 2 2009 den....15 .....101 .....1120....11.1.......75.......10 56 0 0 Over all he's been pretty consistent, but certainly his yds and avg have declined each year, but that could be new system, or more teams covering him. The fact that his numbers didn't vastly decline with Orton throwing instead of Cutler is pretty amazing to me. |
Re: Brandon Marshall To DC?
Please don't trade any more draft picks Redskins. Especially for receivers. We have Santana Moss and Cooley plus THREE 2nd round picks that haven't been given a real opportunity yet. Lets see what those 5 receivers can do with a real QB now and a real offensive system and a real offensive coordinator instead of relying a savior receiver.
|
Re: Brandon Marshall To DC?
Actually, I wouldn't be that surprised. Kyle had Andre Johnson in Houston, and B. Marshall would be of comparable talent.. I definitely wouldn't expect to give up a first round pick -- but perhaps a trade of some sort, etc.
Do I want Marshall? I would do ANYTHING to get a left tackle, then right tackle, and then RB, and LB. AFTER all that -- *sure*. |
Re: Brandon Marshall To DC?
We need to declare a cease fire on all face palms. It's almost as annoying now as the kissy face.
I actually feel bad for Backup as this was easily a valid topic and it has been totally derailed by facepalms and stupid pictures. I mean who are we ES? |

Price of a player like Marshall is easy to compute...1'st rounder with conditional 3rd or 4th rounder depending on how high the first round pick is. Would I want to pay that price, no...but this is till Danny Boy's team and he can do whatever he damn well pleases even with Shanny here. |

I don't think Marshall would merit a 1st plus. Holmes was just traded for a 5th, he is a better player statistically. I'll grant that was outside of the market curve, but right now I would expect Marshall to get a 2nd this year and a conditional next. BUT, we couldn't do that so ours would have to be a more creative bundle, and that's why I say it would depend on how the deal was structured. I imagine he will be a Seahawk before too long. Is the Seattle news making any waves about how much or how little Carroll wants Marshall? |

Career stats wise Brandon Marshall is better...Holmes had better yards last season but not TDs (10 TDs for Marshall vs 5 TDs for Holmes) and that's with Marshall being in the dog house the first few games of the year and being suspended the last game of the season. If I could get Marshall for next years 2nd and 3rd rounder I would do it in a heartbeat but that will never happen. They already have TJ Whoseyourmama and Deon Branch so I doubt they will go get Marshall...too much estrogen in that locker room already but you never know. Seattle news is currently concerned with the fact that one of their franchise players got arrested for a DUI and then the following week got arrested for beating his girlfriend. |

LOL. Look we already have L. Johnson. Were talking Marshall who is not with out blemish. So what is the big deal with T.O.? I am finally happy to see the whole character over talent idea possibly out the window. |
