A 3rd for Haynesworth and a 5th for Rocky? The FO can't really be that stupid...

Or can they? If Shanny is really as stubborn about people bowing to his will 100% I can totally see him trading people away for much less than they should get for not showing up to a voluntary mini-camp. Let's hope like hell I'm wrong.... |
Re: Draft News for the Warpath
A question: Let's say we are in the 2nd round, and the Saints offer to do some trade for Brown. IF it includes Rocky, do we have to get him to sign his tender before we could make that trade? or do we hold his rights for trade purposes without him signing. I just wonder how that works within the time constraints of the draft?
I think it would be the famed "agreement in principle" that would allow us to time it up well. I doubt any paperwork goes through til Monday, which would give plenty of time for a tender to be signed.

Being stubborn is one thing. Being foolish is another. Until Schefter reports it, I don't believe it will happen. |

^^thanks, i guess that makes sense.

Rocky for a 5th? Maybe. AH for just a third? Seems unlikely. |

He might give away some folks for cheap. But don't forget that he once traded an uncooperative running back for the best corner in the game and a 2nd rounder to boot. |

I wouldn't be adverse to the first part of that trade happening a second time. |
Re: Draft News for the Warpath
I wouldn't read too much into the trades for Haynesworth...Shanny is smart, he may not want a cancer on his team but he is going to either keep Haynesworth and make him play NT b/c if nothing else AH's stock is going to fall if he keeps up his bitching and he'll realize that a better contract will not be forthcoming. And if a trade does happen, I would not accept anything less than a 1st rounder or multiple 2nds.
I still think some kind of package to send AH to New Orleans for Brown would be the best straight up deal.
I'd be fine with AH for Brown because Brown is a Pro Bowl calibre OT. That would also fill a critical need for us and free us up to do whatever we want with the #4 pick. |

Maybe we can trade Portis for Revis and a 2nd rounder...NOT! :) |

Well as my half way to the century make post I would just like to say we better get something more than Brown in an AH trade. A 100 million dollar stud DT, disgruntled or not, is not equal to one "Pro Bowl calibre OT". IMO. |
Re: Draft News for the Warpath
Say, AH for Brown and a 4th?
|
Re: Draft News for the Warpath
This would be very nice. I think the Carriker deal was a nice deal as well, but I do not like how we have again managed to widdle away our picks for the win now approach talked about in the Carriker thread. Bottom line is we need more picks!!!!!

More picks is nice but I would rather have AH and Rocky than a 3rd and a 5th. |
Re: Draft News for the Warpath
I still don't understand how can anyone call Haynesworth a cancer, when we have Rocky bitching at getting tendered, we had Portis calling out Sellers and asking for him to be replaced, we've had Springs (who is a good guy) completely disappear in the offseason and getting called out by his own teammates about it. I'm not saying he's a saint, but some people are being over dramatic about it.
Any DT who has made $32 million over 13 months and is simply being asked to move to NT and doesn't comply is a cancer |

So you're ok with a $32 million dollar player being asked to do something a much cheaper player (and more suited to the position) could do? Great, like I said, let's put McNabb at running back then. How did Landry work at Free Safety there? |
Re: Draft News for the Warpath
Herold Melvin sung a song called "If you don't know me by now, you will never know me"
Well, it seems to me that, if AH hasn't been traded by now then it probably won't happen. I did a search for major draft day trades and have a pretty mundane list from NFL.com: Top 10 draft trades in NFL history Basically only two of the top ten were players traded who were currently active in the NFL instead of just selected in that year's draft. Jerome Bettis (in '96) and Marshall Faulk (in '99) were the biggest two players traded on draft day. I'm just not seeing any trades for AH coming to fruition by tonight or the night of the draft. If they don't happen by then I highly doubt he moves from our roster. This goes too for the other players on the trade block...(Rocky, Campbell, Rogers, Landry and perhaps Carter) |
Re: Draft News for the Warpath
I know the following: Roethlisberger to the Raiders is either happening as we speak, or not at all.
If we wake up in the morning and he's not a Raider, I think he's a Steeler for the rest of the year. |
Re: Draft News for the Warpath
You don't think that they could announce it during the draft?
|
Re: Draft News for the Warpath
You don't think that they could announce it during the draft?
I think that they're talking now.
I don't think a deal is going to get done, just that it could momentarily. And if they can't agree on compensation (and I don't know why the Steelers would budge if the Raiders don't toss in the 8th overall pick), I don't see what would be different tomorrow. Right now, I think it's a one team race for a QB that Pittsburgh doesn't necessarily want to trade...but his contract is huge and they won't have him for at least 4 games next year, so of course they should try to get something for him. |

No team would give up a top 10 pick for Ben and they know that. If they said just a first round pick then they might be a little more serious in really trying to move him. |

Raiders say they've dropped out of any bid for Ben...could change of course

Re: Draft News for the Warpath
according to multiple sources, the skins are pushing hard to trade up and acquire bradford. evidently mcnabb is going to be a one year rental
|
Re: Draft News for the Warpath
I know Schefter said that the Skins have a few tricks up their sleeves for the draft, I pray it's not one to acquire Bradford!!
|
Re: Draft News for the Warpath
Thats the safest thing in the world to say. Of course we have a few tricks up our sleeves. Thats how the Skins roll.
However, I want a big ugly or more picks!!! |
Re: Draft News for the Warpath
I also think they are putting this out there on the off chance that Bradford is still available that other teams will be more willing to trade up for our pick.
|
Re: Draft News for the Warpath
I like Bradford might as well get him.

Re: Draft News for the Warpath
I like Skins4Life draft day trade over in HailRedskins.com:
Here's my shot in the dark... Bradford, Suh, McCoy are off the boards first... Cleveland calls us for the #4 pick... we get the #7 and a 3rd (71). Berry, Okung, T. Williams are off the board... The 49ers call offering their first (13) and their 2nd (49). They take Claussen. At 13, we trade with the Eagles so they can take Earl Thomas... we get our 2nd back and the 24th pick. At 24, we take NT Terence Cody... The day concludes with the Saints on the clock. The commisioner announces a trade has been made and the Washington Redskins are on the clock. DT Haynesworth for OT Jammal Brown and the 32 pick. "With the 32 pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, the Washington Redskins select QB Tim Tebow." In the end, we get OT Jammal Brown, 2 1sts, 2 2nds and a 3rd.... not to mention the 3rd we eventually get from the Minnesota Vikings for Jason Campbell. But this is just my guess (hope)... Of course that would be a fantasy even in a perfect NFL world. Certainly not a reality. :) |
Re: Draft News for the Warpath
LOL so we trade down like 10 times? That would be the most epic draft ever.

Haynesworth, JC, Rogers, McIntosh. We're gonna sell the farm for Bradford, then turn around and deal McNabb. Come on it's so obvious. ;) |

Now that you put it that way.
