1. Doug Free lost the leverage battle on an early run. Stay low coming out of your stance and dig the defender out. At least that’s what my high school coach told me, though I was pretty mediocre in high school. Must have been the mediocre coaching and not my lack of talent, speed and size.

Hopefully Trent Williams doesn't look like that next week against Baltimore.

Matt Hasselbeck has really declined severely since 2007. He doesn't let any routes develop and doesn't seem to have any sort of residual accuracy. He's just winging it out there (although velocity doesn't seem to be an issue).

The NFC West seems to be the division where any team that gets good quarterback play can win it.

Sam Bradford completes six passes, takes four sacks

Rams quarterback Sam Bradford made his NFL debut on Saturday night, in the team's preseason opener.

The best news is that no joints on his body exploded like a kernel of popcorn in a blast furnace. Beyond that, Bradford didn't do anything to elicit "oohs" or "boos" from the hometown fans.

Entering the game on the Rams' first drive of the second quarter, Bradford completed six of 13 passes for 57 yards. His second attempt was a short ball that resulted in an 18-yard gain by receiver Laurent Robinson.

Bradford's opening effort ultimately fizzled on a failed fourth-down try at the Minnesota 36. The St. Louis offense then went three and out on his second drive, via three straight incomplete passes.

On the next drive, Bradford threw another incompletion on first down; he then was sacked on consecutive plays.

Though Bradford was expected to exit the game at halftime, he returned for a fourth drive to start the third quarter. After two more completions and two more sacks (one caused him to fumble the ball out of bounds), the Rams punted and Bradford called it a night.

Meanwhile, Vikings backup Sage Rosenfels completed 23 of 34 passes for 310 yards and three touchdowns, and the Vikings lead in the fourth quarter, 21-7.

The Minnesota defense is nasty and the Rams are awful.

It's not a good combination for a rookie QB.

Most rookie QB's don't get near the field in the first half of the first pre-season game.

I think Bradford is going to be an amazing QB, but he could so easily bust out it's not even funny.

The transition is so brutal.

Bradford is a goner. He won't survive the season, definitely not the length of his contract. He should have pulled an Eli Manning and simply refused to play for the Rams. It is a damn shame that the best talent coming out of college is stuck playing on crappy teams.

Bradford has absolutely no help, and not much talent to work with. 4 sacks in a preseason game doesn't bode well when the games will mean something. He did OK for a rook in preseason, but he won't excel til he plays out his contract and goes elsewhere to play. That is if he survives the Rams. THey really need to get rid of the salary cap permanently.

As a Sooner fan, I hate that he got drafted by the Rams they are so bad. I concur he might destroy that rebuilt shoulder again by mid-season.

I'm hoping one of you guys or gals can help me out.....

I think I missed all the hype in the preseason magazines covering the Patriots being the "itshay" this yr, but it seems that after their game Thursday night both the NFL network and NFL.com are talking about the Pats, showing a repeat of their game, or creating another article. Today it's about Welker's worth. Who gives a rats ass? I'm sorry for ranting but their game was Thursday, I can see talking about them Fri. and move on. Why a story about them each and every day?

I guess I missed the memo saying they are going back to the SB.

Well, that is what they are predicting, unless the Ravens knock them off. The Ravens are the preseason favorites, but the Pats are in the SB mix. Remember the NFL and the media make money off of any and all hype generated.

I've seen more talk about the Pats then I have the Saints, Colts, Chargers, ... heck even Houston.

I guess I should be glad the Skins are off the media wire, but I mean heck you have AH liking the defense, Mike Shanahan and his first preseason game, Kyle Shanahan's debut as OC, Haslett's defense, Trent Williams first game, and probably many other stories. Instead they chose to follow the Pats who struggled last yr.

I guess I'm tired of hearing about the same lame teams, you know... Dallas, Pats, Colts, and Cinci.

Think getting rid of Marshall is really going to open up the Broncos passing game...but it also gets rid of their biggest safety net. I think that will help Kyle Orton, personally.

Carson is throwing the ball better today than I've seen in a long time. Since either the beginning of 2008 or back in 2007.

Folks can now begin the "Tebow is clutch" hype. Scored a TD by running it in on the last play of the game. Apparently nicked up a DB as well.

I wonder how he would have done if those practice squad O-lineman had given him any time to throw. He got decked in the pocket several times, but made a few nice throws off of scrambles. He looked a helluva lot better than Brady Quinn.

Yes he did and that reciever should have caught that deep pass along the sideline on 3rd and long on his first series. Would have been 6.

So glad this was started and I found it.

My feelings are that from a scheme (both O and D) the games are pretty vanilla plus its hard to get a handle on your team's true worth. From a players stand point a true pro should put out anytime he steps on the field of play. As Chucky would say " Your Bonus check won't save you now!"

On the Dolphins sites the Weather was the excuse for Henne's, Marshall's, and others less than stellar play yet the Buc's QB had no such problem getting a TD on his first drive with WR's no where near Marshall's rep or stat line and he was playing on the same field in the same rain and mud against a Defense that some would say is a top 5 or at least in the top 10.

I'm of the opinion you gotta show me and the Redskins players showed me alot more than the Dolphins at this point in time.

Maybe things will be different once the schemes are in place but after preseason game 1 the Redskins QB's (1 & 2) are head and shoulders above any Dolphins QB imho. As a Finfan I sure hope thats not how we look against the Bills in game 1 but by the same token the Skins look ready to bite the bullet and give the Boys a run for all the marbles!!:woot:

Got to agree, I think Tim is going to be a very good QB, given that he will be slowly brought up to speed and not be allowed to be killed by a bad O- line. Sad to say Sam Bradford won't be given the same chance and that really is to bad imho.

It seems everyone in the media Loves the Pats and though they still have Brady imho they are long passed their peak and that 18-1 season killed their heart and soul.

I look for the Jets and Fins to battle for bragging rights to the AFC East, thats if Henne and Saneeze can live up to their billing as the next "Joe Willie" and "Dan the Man" their bosses would like us to believe. We shall see!

Jets have a young stable of QBs, poor Brunell is going to probably call it a career soon. I think Rex Ryan should have shut up about going to the SB. Jets starters are solid, but they obviously have no depth, with the possible exception of QB. The Jets were totally dominant statistically at halftime,and then the bottom fell out.

Doubt it, the Pats look very impressive, and I hate the Pats. The Jets starters did a very nice job, but once they left, the Gmen took control of the game. Jets have a nice stable of young Qbs like I state above, but Sorgi is better than any of them, with the exception of maybe Sanchez. This V Cruz burned the Jets badly, I think Mr Brady and co want some payback also. Jets maybe get a wildcard.

The jets have a super bowl roster but do they have a super bowl qb? That remains to be seen. As far as the giants... Well their rush attack has fallen off IMO. Jacobs is a great short yardage guy but not a featured back anymore, Bradshaw is just a scat back. Their oline is getting older and the CB situation is shaky. The jets should have picked manning off 2 times atleast. I'm getting more an more confident in wsh to compete for the division crown. Let's see what we can do against Baltimore
