Re: NFL regular season thread (week 1)
Good game. Favre is getting warmed up, AP is picking up where he left off without the fumblitis.
Never know could be an upset in the making. |
Re: NFL regular season thread (week 1)
=Minny + 3.5
Yeah I've been feeling that same vibe, but he seems to be getting some mojo back now.
He does, to me I guess I am used to the BF who goes out and haves fun, to me he doesnt seem like he is having fun. |
Re: NFL regular season thread (week 1)
If the vikes can get that running game going nicely and AP pops off a big one then I see the Vikes winning. It all depends on the half time adjustments that these guys make.

Re: NFL regular season thread (week 1)
Pierre Thomas is sooo not being a fantasy stud today. yay.
|
Re: NFL regular season thread (week 1)
Ahh I love it how they were talking about the Redskins Cowboys game in 3 nights...Can't WAit!!!

Re: NFL regular season thread (week 1)

lol. I stayed away from Thomas like he was moldy bread. |
Re: NFL regular season thread (week 1)
yeah I would not take him in that pass happy NO offense. Sleeper pick, CP will have a much better fantasy year and NFL season than that of Pierre T.
|
Re: NFL regular season thread (week 1)
Ok. did anyone just see that Ray Lewis Oldspice Commercial...all I have to say is wow.
I thought people did not do LSD anymore. Who came up with that TV spot? |
Re: NFL regular season thread (week 1)
I love hearing older guys say " swagger " lol

Re: NFL regular season thread (week 1)
Favre looks bad
|
Re: NFL regular season thread (week 1)
yep. Saints get a score here I dont think #4 can bring his team back.
|
Re: NFL regular season thread (week 1)
Wow I really blew it. I thought the Minnesota D was tightening it up, then Peyton finally brings in the running game. Favre was starting to look decent come halftime only to stink again. Sort of like a WWE wrestling match where the momentum keeps switching.
|
Re: NFL regular season thread (week 1)
Pierre not bad for my first fantasy game.
|
Favre looks bad
And luckily we get to play them this year. |
Pierre not bad for my first fantasy game.
My first as well. I have the saints d. I guess they did ok but it sure changes how you watch the game. Also had vikes in the warpath pickem so I think that the spread gives me the game. Pretty good night. |
Re: NFL regular season thread (week 1)
For a moment I thought I was watching the Ravens vs. Jets game. Not a great showing by Brees fantasy-wise. I hope this just first-game rustiness.
|
Re: NFL regular season thread (week 1)
Brees could have easily had a much better night, his WRs didn't help him out much there a few times. That drop in the endzone was pretty bad by Meachem.
|
Re: NFL regular season thread (week 1)
Any idea why Chilly gave up on the run in the 2nd half? AP was grinding, should have stuck with him.
|
Re: NFL regular season thread (week 1)
Apparently last nights game wasn't all that different from last years opener for the Vikings. Against the Browns he put up a measly 110 yards on 21 pass attempts. He then followed up in week 2 with 155 yards against Detroit, though he was ridiculously accurate going 23/27. If I was a Vikings fan I wouldn't panic until week 3.
|
Re: NFL regular season thread (week 1)
Def not time to panic for the Vikings.
Favre just needs some time to get on track. He clearly doesn't have a go to guy right now other than Shiancoe. Berrian blows, Harvin is clearly rusty. Perhaps Camarillo can step up? Still, he's no Rice. |

I think last year he was able to play his way into shape and they still won. May not be the case this year w/out Rice and a tougher schedule. |

Had Thomas in one league and Colston, Harvin and Brees in the other. Not great but okay. Pulling for Turner and Grant - particularly Grant want him to run it up on Philly. Neither team, to me, looked particularly sharp on offense. Other than N.O.'s two drives at the opening of the half and the opening of the game, they really didn't do much. Enough but not much. I expect both of these offenses will get it rocking by about game 3 though. |

What was the spread on that last night?

He's got some sick hands, he should be in for a big year as Favre really trusts him. |

We can run two TE sets in my fantasy league I envision myself starting both him and Witten on some weeks. |
Re: NFL regular season thread (week 1)
Shiancoe could easily join the 1,000 yard Tight End club this year. Hopefully Cooley joins as well but I'll be happy if he shows up with his usual 800 yard performance.

Re: NFL regular season thread (week 1)
The only problem I see with Shiancoe/Farve is that, right now, Farve isn't going anywhere else and, while he has great hands, he was basically taken out of the game in the 2nd half by one player. NO's Harper (a linebacker, I think) shadowed him, took him out of the game AND Minn (even w/ AP) wasn't able to exploit this.
If teams can take out Shiancoe with one player AND Minn can't force them to focus on something else, Shiancoe just isn't the type of playmaker to make plays regardless (like a Gonzalez or Gates in their prime). Until Minn gets some other receiveing options working (come on P. Harvin! (have him in both my FF leagues)), Shiancoe is going to be somewhat limited. I am sure other teams watched the game tape and saw what happened was NO took Shiancoe out of the game. Until Minn stops that, I wouldn't bank too heavily on VS. Once Rice comes back or Farve/Harvin start clicking, then VS could really explode. |
Re: NFL regular season thread (week 1)
I love what Ray Lewis said about the JETS! I'm so damn tired of hearing about that team..

You mean how the Jets are just how the Ravens were a few seasons ago minus the Super Bowl predictions? |
Re: NFL regular season thread (week 1)
I actually think MIN will struggle to get to 9 wins this year.
Favre should have packed up the diesel, and gone on a fishing trip or something. When he really starts getting pummeled this season, I doubt he can finish it off. He'll be gone by week 12. Too easy to mess that ankle up again. |

While NO has a good defense, they are not considered a defensive team like the Steelers, Ravens or Jets; yet still the few times they hit him made a difference on his play. |

I want to say the Saints by 3.5. |
Re: NFL regular season thread (week 1)
Glad I benched Meacham on both teams I own him.
Hartley scored -3 points for me on the team I started him on...scoring punishes missed FGs in that league. I would have been better off starting Suisham...even if he didn't play, I'd be 3 points better. |

it was 5, made it a push... |
Re: NFL regular season thread (week 1)
Well..my Surprise picks this week?
Chiefs over S.D. Pitt over Atl Hou over Colts and of course the Skins over Dallas |

Re: NFL regular season thread (week 1)
I expect the hits to take their toll on Favre over the course of the season; they can only dope that ankle up but so much. I think the Vikes will be good this year, but I think the absence of Chester Taylor could end up being their biggest lost of the year. He was really good coming out of the backfield last year and giving AP much needed breathers.
