Re: Smoot Lays The Smack Down (Redskins at Eagles)
You guys hating on this ugly win might want to get your hatorade ready next week.
I know it ain't Wednesday yet, but the Kool Aid is flowing this morning. I got the Skins winning 27-17 vs. the Packers! Hail!! |
Re: Smoot Lays The Smack Down (Redskins at Eagles)
I was a little dissapointed in the running plays in the second half. It seemed that they went away from what had been working in the first half. Instead of east/west running, they started going downhill, and it didn't work. They got back to the stretching plays late in the fourth quarter, but I just don't understand why they didnt' stick with them for the entire game. Did anyone else notice that? I'm sure there was a reason and I'm just not yet aware what it was, but I'd love some enlightenment if anyone knows.

Re: Smoot Lays The Smack Down (Redskins at Eagles)
I was trying to find the post were someone here posted about how they hate the Bears because it seems like everything they have done is positive so far leading up to week 4.
I said this before isn't funny how things in the NFL can change on a dime week to week. I am starting to thing a lost to a 2010 Rams team is much different then a lost to a 2009 Rams team. There are really no gimme's in the NFL, there are no Pittsburgh Pirates or LA Clippers in the NFL that roll just roll over like a commanded dog. Any team can beat any team on any given Sunday, don't believe me ask Vegas. With that said this was a huge win and to be 2-0 in the East should make every skins fan feel on top of the NFL world! |

What? When? You mean the post when I satirized the idea of meaninglessness (after others were already discussing it) by bringing up a number of big positives? You must have me on "ignore" because you clearly read none of my posts. |
Re: Smoot Lays The Smack Down (Redskins at Eagles)
I'm laying the smack down on those fans who are hating and negative.
Before the game some people guaranteed that the Iggles would blow us out. Worse, at least one person made it clear after the Rams game that we had no hope of winning our next four games. Give me a break. You folks are terrible fans. On behalf of those of us who bleed burgundy and gold, f*** you. |
Re: Smoot Lays The Smack Down (Redskins at Eagles)
Well people were frustrated after the Rams game. I get it, that's fine. I can't really understand dismissing yesterday's win though

Some people are just happy in their misery I guess. Granted I didn't think we would win yesterday, but I did think we were going to see a much better effort. |

Re: Smoot Lays The Smack Down (Redskins at Eagles)
I didn't have time to comb through the game-day thread, but how bout some love for fat Al? Was consistently getting pressure despite being held nearly every play (with one of those holds being crucially called). Looked like a decent NT yesterday.

Re: Smoot Lays The Smack Down (Redskins at Eagles)
In regards to the negative attitudes on the game thread, I dont see a real problem with it . There was carry over from the super frustrating last second Houston loss, and the Rams game was just piss poor from start to finish. I can understand the negative attitudes yesterday...I know I had a couple comments, but when you see the samething over and over it gets frustrating. I mean whether we lay smackdown during the game or just 5 mins after it...really makes no difference to me. Saying Mike Sellers sucks balls during the game or just after it...its the samething, Mike Sellers sucks.
To dismiss the win is a completely different thing, thats really not understanding NFC East football. To win in this conference on the road, its always physical and always super ugly. |

Saying Mike Sellers sucks, now we're going to lose the game even though we're winning by two scores, have the ball and the clock is running is another. Re: Smoot Lays The Smack Down (Redskins at Eagles)
I haven't read the entire thread - but then I don't think I need to. It's the same people saying the same things since Gibbs II. "Doom Doom Doom".
Look, I hate it when we lose, but - dammit - WE F'ING WON. Sure, it wasn't pretty and, yes, there are some serious issues that need to be addressed. So, should we bring back Vinny and his "quick fix" method? Or - maybe, just maybe - we can be patient with MS and BA. (Hey, they already have 2 more wins than Gibbs did in his first 5 games). It is unlikely this team is going anywhere beyond 16 games this year. In fact, it is unlikely that, as a Skin's fan, you will have more than six or seven "Winning Mondays" in the next ten months. So, I suggest you enjoy the ones you get. Bitch after the losses. But damn. Enjoy the win for at least a day or two. My smack? all covered. lots of questionable coaching issues. McNabb - Out of bounds? Really? - Was this another "I didn't know how overtime works." moment? Banks on a reverse from the 3? Yikes - clever by a half. We are 2-0 in the division - w/ home games against both the Eagles & Cowboys to come. We are tied at the top of our division. I don't expect that to last so I will enjoy the victory. I'll take 12 more of these ugly lucky wins any season b/c the Skins winning makes my f'ing week. So hate on if you must, but, in the immortal words of Sir Mick - "Hey! You! Get off of my cloud!" |

I think literally 50-60% of times Peters could have been called for a hold. Maybe in the interest of keeping the game going they didn't call those and I understand a lot of stuff goes on but it was TOTALLY blatant. Like you said Chico, it's just years of games like this going in the DIFFERENT direction. It's going to take a few wins like this on OUR side for me to get over it. :D |

Yeah some folks will never be happy. They don't hand out UW (ugly wins) in the NFL. I'll take a W anyway we can get it.
In other news, I just picked up Ryan Torain for my fantasy team. He might be a keeper. |

It's called being objective. Why the hell should I be blindly happy and acting like we're the Colts or the Pats of the early or mid 2000s when I'm clearly going to be setting myself up for MAJOR disappointment? Hell, we were one Jason Avant drop from being 1-3. That cannot go on for every game for the rest of the season if they really want to compete into January. Re: Smoot Lays The Smack Down (Redskins at Eagles)
I love the Monday morning analysis. You're telling me four games into the season, we can predict who's looking like playoff material and who isn't? Good grief, the Chiefs are undefeated and my money is on them folding like a tent down the stretch. I believe the Redskins are improving little by little in different facets, they've just yet to put it all together in one game.
We've seen McNabb open up the passing game and go bonkers against the Texans. The running game is finally starting to show some flashes. We're getting more comforatable with the defensive scheme, even Haynesworth is starting to get his sea legs. I'm sorry, but I'm encouraged. And for all the what if Vick doesn't get hurt apologists, give me a break!! I can't believe B.Mitch, of all people, went there post game. His ass got hit by a hard hitting defense, that's not luck that's football. We've potentially changed the entire dynamic of Philly's season and maybe the NFC East. We pull off an upset Sunday and suddenly we're talking about a Wild Card caliber team. Let's hope so. |

The Redskins were 4-12 last season. There is a lot of new things going on with this team this year and it is all going to take time. I can tell a world of difference already. Yes, I am very frustrated with the defense and extremely frustrated with Stephon Heyer, but it will get better. You also have to look at the positives. The Redskins are undefeated in their division. I'm not sure if the Redskins even won a game in their division last year. Maybe one? That is already an improvement. |

Teams make adjustments and linemen get tired. The Redskins were still able to move the ball in the second half, they just couldn't score points, which did bother me. I thought Haynesworth played relatively well. He was getting penetration through the line and making tackles. I think Fat Al will continue to improve throughout the season. It is going to take more than four games for this offense to gel into the offense we hope to see. But, we have already seen flashes of how explosive it can be. The 'skins get Trent Williams back and have two healthy running backs (Portis and torrain,) things will start picking up. Give this team a year or two, and I think you'll see a big difference. |

If you guys haven't heard McNabb's post game locker room speech, please go somewhere and find it. This is the leader we've been missing for so long.
