Packers lost Nick Barnett.

Re: It's F-ing Packers Week

Can't help but think people are overrating the Packers based on last year. They are trending down because of injures (we're pretty much treading water re: injuries). I'm not sure I like their offense much in this game, and I like our defense at least as much as I like theirs (stylistically: very similar).

They are good enough to be a quality win if we can beat them, but they aren't good enough to consider it an upset.

Nick Barnett LB Out Oct 6 wrist Out indefinitely
Latest News:
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Packers ILB Nick Barnett is indeed done for the year with a Brian Urlacher-like wrist injury. The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reported something similar, though Barnett is supposed to seek a second medical opinion Friday. Schefter ran with the report anyway, probably because he's hearing that Barnett's outlook is bleak.

Morgan Burnett DB Out Oct 3 knee surgery Out for season
Latest News:
Packers SS Morgan Burnett is out for the season with a torn left ACL. It's a big blow to the Packers, as safety is one of their thinnest positions. Burnett had started all four games, picking up 14 tackles and an interception. Derrick Martin, primarily a special teamer, will be first up to replace Burnett unless Charlie Peprah (quad) is healthy. It's also possible that corners Jarrett Bush or even Charles Woodson could be moved to safety. The Packers do have Atari Bigby (hamstring) eligible to come off PUP in Week 7.
10/4/2010 12:49:00 PM

Brandon Chillar LB Out Oct 1 shoulder Return Week 5?
Latest News:
Packers defensive coordinator Dom Capers hopes to have Brandon Chillar (shoulder) available for Week 5. Chillar sat out in Week 4 and was barely able to lift up his arm to put his shirt on. Capers said the linebacker is able to lift his arm now, though. Chillar has had other shoulder problems in the past, so hopefully this won't be a lingering injury.

Charlie Peprah DB Questionable Oct 1 thigh
Latest News:
Charlie Peprah is the favorite to serve as Green Bay's interim starting strong safety with Morgan Burnett done for the year. Atari Bigby, currently on PUP, will get the nod if his ankle is fully healed by Week 7. Peprah has battled a thigh injury of his own and was inactive for Week 4. The Packers' only other option is special teams ace Derrick Martin.

Sam Shields DB Doubtful Oct 1 calf
Latest News:
Packers nickel back Sam Shields (calf), ruled out for Week 4, is expected to return Week 5 against the Redskins. Shields unsuccessfully tested the calf on Friday in practice, and will be needed at full strength next week against QB Donovan McNabb moreso than against QB Shaun Hill in Week 4. CB Jarrett Bush is slated to replace Shields in nickel packages, while DBs Brandon Underwood and Pat Lee could also fill in.

Cullen Jenkins DL Probable Oct 1 hand
Latest News:
Packers RE Cullen Jenkins has expressed displeasure with the team's unwillingness to sign him to a long-term extension. "It's almost like maybe a slap in the face," Jenkins said Friday. "You just kind of feel like you're not in the plans, like they just don't see you as a valuable enough player." One league agent believes the team won't have enough cash to re-sign the versatile defensive lineman. Jenkins will turn 30 in January, but is sure to drum up interest if he hits the open market.

Charles Woodson DB Probable Sep 17 toe
Latest News:
Packers CB Charles Woodson (toe) is listed as probable for Week 2. Woodson injured the toe leading up to Green Bay's season opener, but was a menace against Philadelphia, racking up four tackles, a forced fumble, and a pass breakup. He often misses practices, but rarely misses games.

Justin Harrell DL I.R. Sep 14 knee surgery Out for season
Latest News:
Packers placed DE Justin Harrell (torn ACL) on injured reserve, ending his season. As expected, Jarius Wynn will take his place on the roster. Harrell, who has now missed 35 of 48 games since being drafted with the 16th overall pick in 2007, is under contract through 2012. He's no lock to start next season on the active roster.
9/14/2010 3:46:00 PM

Ryan Grant RB I.R. Sep 12 ankle Out for season
Latest News:
Ryan Grant (injured reserve) will have surgery to place screws into his damaged ankle on Tuesday. He should be a full-go for 2011 offseason conditioning. The fracture near Grant's knee will heal on its own. Brandon Jackson hasn't done enough yet to threaten Grant's feature back role in 2011, but the Packers may add talent to the backfield next offseason. Rookie James Starks also has promise.

James Starks RB PUP Sep 9 hamstring Return Week 7?
Latest News:
Packers RB James Starks (hamstring) is reportedly running full speed. Starks can't be activated off of the PUP list until Week 7, but he's a name you need to keep in the back of your head. The team's sixth-round pick could be a wildcard in the Packers' backfield.
9/25/2010 1:08:00 PM

Atari Bigby DB PUP Sep 9 ankle Return Week 7?
Latest News:
Atari Bigby (ankle surgery), placed on the PUP list in late August, is close to returning to football activities. Bigby can't practice with the Packers or play for six weeks, but he's already running and cutting. He should be a full strength when he's eligible to return in mid-October.
9/10/2010 10:45:00 AM

Al Harris DB PUP Sep 9 knee surgery Return Week 7?
Latest News:
The Packers let Al Harris (knee surgery) make his own decision to start the season on PUP. It's not a good sign that Harris doesn't have confidence in the knee. Bill Barnwell of Football Outsiders predicted that Harris won't play a snap in the NFL again. If so, it shouldn't surprise anyone. The alarming nature of Harris' injury (we've not heard of something so severe) coupled with his age (35) stacks the odds against him. Green Bay's young corners had better step up.
8/31/2010 11:11:00 PM

Josh Bell DB I.R. Sep 9 foot Out for season
Latest News:
Packers placed CB Josh Bell (foot) on injured reserve, ending his season. Bell suffered a foot injury in practice last Saturday. X-rays were negative, but evidently the ailment was serious enough that the Packers felt they needed to free up a roster spot.
8/10/2010 7:21:00 PM

Johnny Jolly, Jr DL Suspended Sep 9 - Return 2011?
Latest News:
Suspended DL Johnny Jolly agreed to a plea deal Tuesday that will give him a clean record if he stays out of a trouble for a year. Jolly agreed to plead guilty to one undisclosed charge in exchange for a one-year pretrial diversion. In other words, his sentence is delayed for one year pending the outcome of his diversion program. He's been suspended indefinitely by the NFL.

^ Insane injury report.

They're especially banged up in the secondary.

Al Harris, Atari Bigby, Morgan Burnett, Josh Bell DEFINITELY out.

Charles Woodson, Nick Collins, Sam Shields banged up but expected to play.

Charlie Peprah, their starting safety since Burnett is out, is questionable.

A ton of LBs are out or not 100%, with Nick Barnett being a huge blow.

Their defense is very vulnerable.

They also have an annual preseason blowout game in which they utterly humiliate someone with a 40+ final score.

So I am real pumped up for the game. I honestly beleave that we pull off our finest win to date. We will hit Mr. Rodgers in his mouth and break his spirit. Our D and Offense will start to improve much more this week. ATV will show his wheels this week.

You are right up to a point G. One thing the Pack can do th at we can't yet is play an inspired 60 minutes of football on both sides of the ball. IF our D is still hot, yeah, we will roll, but if we play like we did against Houston and St. Louis forget it. Mr. Mcnabb doesn't have too many weapons to work with.

Wouldn't it be great if the day after Devin Thomas is cut, one of our secondary WRs has a monster game? Hey, I can dream, right?

I just had a scary thought - James Thrash from the Gibbs 2.0 teams would definitely be the #2 WR on this team.
