Re: Rogers Frustrated By Some Redskins Fans
Since I'm late to the party I'm sure it's already been said but...
Maybe if Carlos "Hands" Rogers would support the team, perhaps the fans would support the team as well as him better. I don't know why he can't read the tea leaves especially since he's been here so long, but after 10+ yrs of fans getting a crap sandwich I think fans have a reason to be a bit pessimistic until they now only see a steak in front of them but taste it also. Carlos.... prove you and the team to include management deserve more then reserved fandom. As I recall after getting beat twice you conveniently left the game with an injury. Surely you wouldn't want to embarrass yourself more? |
“We know we can have a great home-field advantage if we can give them something to cheer about,” inside linebacker London Fletcher said. “[Sunday] was a great opportunity to get our fans into the game and keep them into the game.”
Gotta love that guy (Fletcher). Tries to please the fans even while he's pleasing the fans! As far as Rogers is concerned, we all say stupid things sometimes. Just start catching the ball man. Pretty Please, with 5 pats on the back. C'mon you can do it... Hopefully that works. Yours truly, Your new #1 Fan |
Re: Rogers Frustrated By Some Redskins Fans
Maybe it's because the "passion" isn't there for other teams as it is for the Redskins, but of all the games I've been to in DC over the past few years (Redskins, Caps, Wizards, Nationals, United, even Mystics) I've never experienced booing quite so extreme as for the Redskins. And there have been some dud teams beyond just the Skins

Re: Rogers Frustrated By Some Redskins Fans
Many here probably disagree, but I have a huge problem with Players taking Jabs at their fans...
haven't had a chance to explain why I think this,so here I go. I understand players get frustrated. I've played football all my life (not around 80K+ fans) but I've heard the boos and cheers from my end. I was a pretty good player,I will admit. I had great games and bad games. I've played on an undefeated team before and I've played on below .500 teams. I've blown up at the coach before1 time during a game(ONE TIME)...I've walked off the practice field in disgust.... (I played many positions in my time as a player) But there are two things I've never done as a football player in the 15+ years I played (including semi-pro) I've never yelled out to a player on the team and placed blame and I've never yelled at the fans or blamed them for how they felt the game was going or any rude jesters I may have heard. Why? -------------------- I was always way to focused on the game at the time,to worry about anything else. Not just on my responsibilities, but how I personally could help the team or make an impact on winning. That's all that mattered and was all that was important to me..winning! And when WE didn't win and/or I played a bad game or didn't come up huge in a game....ALL the blame was on me and why I didn't play better. ...and the one time I blew up at the coach as I mentioned earlier, was because in a big game...the long snapper hiked the ball over my head as I was standing on the Goalline to Punt for Safety. (and I'm 6'2" and can jump) and did so many games throughout the season. I'm talking one handed grabs in the air from jumping, then to set my feet and Punt. It was crazy that season..he was that bad. (Should have won MVP for the year on that alone) Not to mention,I still averaged 43.4 yards as well on top of that for the year. But I never yelled at the Center (long snapper) but I was pissed coming over to the sidelines and yelled at the coach "get me a Bleeping Center!" out of frustration. (long snapper did not hear that) as I was trotting back to the field to Punt the ball on the Kickoff. Only time I ever yelled at any coach I ever had. (I saw this coming and nothing was done about it,to prevent that catastrophe) So I blew up... This worked well for me though,as I went back out to play Eagle/Arkansas Linebacker on Defense though...:) I guess the point I'm trying to make is... I understand these guys are on radio shows, interviews and whatever... But I find it very sad, that of all the problems the Redskins have...and all the things that Carlos could and should be doing...be it working out...watching game film to get better....working on his *new* contract as he will be a free agent....hanging out with friends or being with his girlfriend/wife... That the one thing on his mind,is the treatment towards him/team by the fan base, that is not happy with the way things are going. So instead of just trying to improve and get better and help the Washington Redskins win,he needs to find some kind of blame elsewhere. This tells me...that carlos is a very mentally weak individual. I would not want this guy on my team. I don't want ANYONE like that on my team. Because if you are blaming the fans, then I'm sure you are going to blame your teammates and so on...At least from my perspective. That's a bad teammate who has no accountibility or humility... He's also probably not the only person who is like this... If Shanny has the same mindset that I do.... Carlos will not be wearing the Burgundy and Gold next season. (nor will many others) have too...to change this culture around gentleman... This destroys teams... |
Re: Rogers Frustrated By Some Redskins Fans
^^TBH, I don't think it's the booing that has become the major concern. Some are saying the fan experience at Fed Ex is becoming one of the worst in professional football. It's the behavior aside from the booing that has people concerned.

Click the link to read the rest. Really can't stand Carlos anymore, he really pisses me off. I never boo the team or anything, but it's easy to see why the fans get pissed off, two winning seasons at home in 10 years, absolutely pathetic. If he could catch the ball we'd probably have one more win at home this season. I'm not going to lie, I hate paying 4K seeing 4-12 performances.
No one is dragging you out of your house to go over there. Carlos makes some good points. A lot of the fans go overboard with some of the things they say. Fans do have the right to boo but to yell insults is taking it too far. |

The way people were blowing up Riley's Twitter account is good evidence of fans taking things too far.

Re: Rogers Frustrated By Some Redskins Fans
Im a fan since George Allen area, a real Redskin fan. I love this team and yes it sucks when we lose but I have to be realistic this team was 4-12 last season with a new HC. We still have the majority of the same players but who are learning a new system so why would we think this team is good enough to make the playoffs coming out of the NFC East. If we were in the NFC West then we may have a good chance to make the playoffs. Let's just sit back and watch this team play hard every week and keep the games close. We just don't have enough play makers on both sides of the ball right now. Our D-Line has mostly back ups who should not be starters but because we don't have better talent we have to live with Daniels, Carriker, Kemo and Golston as starters. Our Linebackers are undersized and slow but they do play hard every game. London is a baller but he is getting up in age. Brian Orakpo just can not make enough plays because teams and focus on him, due to no other threat on the D-Line. AH does not play enough to make a difference he needs to be traded next season if he only plays on passing downs. I'm going to continue watching the games but not expect much this season < I suggest you do the same so when we lose you wont be so pissed off.
I've been a fan for just about as long as you have. I think what frustrates the smart fans is that this team never seems to have a true plan in place. And when I see us trade away the future for older guys that are past their primes, or bring in older guys via FA it just seems like a band aid approach. I've said this before and I'll say it again but I don't mind playing all young guys and living with their mistakes for a few years cause I know that's the only real way we're ever going to build a true winner for many years. That might also mean bringing in a younger coach like Raheem Morris but so be it. This win now approach has won us two playoff games in 12 years. And I don't really count 99 cause Casserly put that team together. Enough!!!! |
Re: Rogers Frustrated By Some Redskins Fans
ace - i dont mean to pick on you today, you know i support your youthful enthusiasm but I find Halls post game comments throwing skins players under the bus to be more intuitive of a player i dont want on my team. when he said they had the perfect play called but our safety got nosy, thats throwing a fellow player under the bus. he then did that again the next week to p buch.
with los, by the team not giving him a new K and deciding to RFA tag him, he went sour on the skins imo this year. they didnt show any loyalty or indication that they want him back after this year. what i find much more disturbing than los comments that this thread is about is los' comment before the titans game where he said he wasnt feeling 100% and didnt want to put any bad tape out there and that he wasnt going to sacrifice his body. los' mindset this year is a reflection of what he took as a snud this past offseason. he is playing for a new K with a new team next year. it sucks, i value los much more than i do hall. perhaps the skins in giving d hall that 57 or so mil means bruce doesnt want to invest another heavy contract to that position. it is what it is, the team didnt step up and reward los for 5 years of service and he will most likely be gone next year. |

Re: Rogers Frustrated By Some Redskins Fans
I'm glad Rogers is frustrated with some fans. Good, because I am frustrated by Rogers.
He's got more mouth than production, the worst attribute of an NFL player who thinks he is better than he actually is. I've never heard more from a guy who does less. He's a GOOD cover corner, not great and far from elite. When I think of him I think getting beat, getting benched and dropping easy INT. The apologists KILL ME 'sure he doesn't make interceptions but he's in position to break up the pass'. That's part of your job and why you won't be getting the big dollar extension you feel you 'deserve'. How some fans are willing to accept that is baffling to me. Maybe you should worry less about the fans and more about your assignments, not getting beaten on double moves and not getting beat deep by the TE on a 3rd & 1 when playaction was an obvious call.
Los has been more than solid this year. Just a reminder, every corner gets beat. And trust me, on the open market he will get a big contract. Not Samuel money cause he's not as good but he will get a nice pay raise. |
Re: Rogers Frustrated By Some Redskins Fans
Los is our best CB. Period. Hall equates to a riverboat gambler and for all the picks he has had this season they just balance all the times he was burned seasons past.
There are games where QBs just don't throw Los' direction. There is some validity in what he is saying. There are fans who almost enjoy it when the team struggles. I am sure Matty can confirm this with increased site traffic after losses vs. wins. Those are the same "fans" that go to games with pessimistic attitudes and foaming at the mouth to boo.
Thank you....not to mention Hall tackles like a freakin girl. |
Re: Rogers Frustrated By Some Redskins Fans
really ace? so lets just ignore the fact that hall is statistically THEY WORST corner in the league by a landslide b/c he gets picks.
ace you dont even watch the skins games unless its a monday or sunday nighter. it seems every game you come on here afterwards and say you didnt get to watch it. im guessin your 15 and cant get to a bar in missouri with sunday ticket. gosh? what info should i base my opinion on? me watching games and reviewing statistics or a kid in missouri who watches 3 games a year? no worries, everyone is entitled to their opinion and perceptions of the skins, in the end we all suffer together anyways.
I've been a Redskins fan for 30 years "over the mountain" I have 2 of our SB's on VHS....(87' and 91') I played for 15+ years including semi pro and I've coached as well I've been married for over 11+ years I have 2 DWI's,so I don't go to bars anymore (probably not wise for me to do so)\ But I own my home and have Direct TV,so I'm good You are making assumptions, which are not true Over the mountain... Let me tell you what is true...over the mountain aceinthehouse (or Michael if you are curious) I Will forget more about football, than you will EVER know... And your 1st problem is you base what you know off statistics. That's not wise... I too am a Statistician and love numbers...that's what i do. But I also use common knowledge and intellect, when basing what I know from player personal to gametime situations. Statistics tells you part of the story, but it doesn't tell you all of it. and it certainly doesn't tell you which player has heart, which player has leadership and which player comes up big when the game is on the line. In your eyes..Hall sucks because he statistically..is the worst CB in the game because of the catches he allows. And In my eyes.Hall is more valuable to the redskins than Carlos Rogers because we would NOT be 5-6 if Hall was not on this team. But rather 3-8 and finished. Take Hall out of the Cowboys game...we don't get the HUGE play before halftime and we lose... Take Hall out of the Bears game...and we not only do NOT win by 3,but possibly get our BUTTS handed to us because HALL took the ball out the bears Offense 4 times and gave it to Mcnabb. 4 times the Bears did not score at all! and he took 1 of those for a TD and gave the Redskins POINTS...7 points we needed cause we only won the game,by 3.... I don't disagree with you that he is not that great of a cover CB. I'm only saying, that although that's true...he still more valuable to the redskins as a Playmaker because he can win games by his ball skills. Carlos NEVER has done that and probably never will. and to me...that is more important to a defense... |
Re: Rogers Frustrated By Some Redskins Fans
And lets say for the sake of the argument...some of you disagree with me..
OK..I'll say this Would Sammy Baugh be considered a good D-back had he not been a playmaker? Sammy got 4 picks in a game as well as Hall. But that wasn't an anomoly either...He was always making plays on Defense with picks. I want guys who make plays on the ball....not follow a guys shadow, only to drop the ball with it hits their helmet LOGO.. Because eventually...no matter how good you are... You're gonna get beat.
I'd give back some of Halls Ints for better coverage any day. Besides this week against the Vikes I can't remember hearing CR name called out in a game. I know there have been plays made against him but hos name has not been called out very much. |

I didn't say he sucks, I said he's a good cover corner-but he's not great and doesn't do anything special. If Fletcher, Carter, Rak, Daniels, LoAx or someone else on the defense whose level of play justified their level of talk said something like this I wouldn't care but Los has diarrhea of the mouth and he's not good enough at his WHOLE job to talk that much. Sure, he'll get a decent contract on the open market, under 30, good player on the man, mostly healthy but he's a headache and a prima donna. |

exactly..every corner gets beat Hall gets beat more than Carlos..I agree But Hall does what Carlos apparently just can't... Intercept the football and score... (and sometimes strip the ball and creates a turnover and score) Which is why I want Hall on my team over Carlos It's that simple for me... |
Re: Rogers Frustrated By Some Redskins Fans
If Rogers doesn't hurry Cutler off the corner blitz, maybe Cutler doesn't throw behind his receiver and Hall doesn't pick it off for a game changing 92 yard TD and we don't beat the Bears
If Rogers doesn't shut down DeSean Jackson to the tune of 3 catches for 19 yards, maybe we don't beat the Eagles |

Re: Rogers Frustrated By Some Redskins Fans
Im very happy with Los and Hall as our starting CBs. One guy takes more chances and is a playmaker, another quietly limits good recievers to 1 and 2 catch days. Its a nice ying and yang balance. I really think losing Los in the offseason would be a huge...hopefully we can lock him up.

Very True. "watching the Redskins corners week after week is a roller coaster ride. While Hall is more of a playmaker, he tends to be streaky in coverage while Rogers is a reliable cover man. I totally agree with you Ruhskins. They do compliment each other and what one does well, the other has that weakness. But at least there is a balance. But sometimes i wonder if the people here realize the importance of turnovers? When you have a guy with Ball skills,it makes your defense that much better. That's why S.Taylor was so special... He was a great Hitter A great tackler ...He was fast He could play man-to-man or Zone This is what made him complete...but NOT Special! What made him special, was his ball play ability... The guy won the Eagles and Tampa alone...in 2005 If he doesn't do that,we probably don't win the eagles game and we definately don't win the Bucs game,as we set a record for fewest Off. pt's in History in a playoff win. THAT is why Sean was a special player. Not because he was 6'3" or cover Moss one-on-One with his speed and height... Although Awesome! What made Sean taylor Special, was his ability to win the game. and that's why we play the game. Sorry to bring him up....but Sean helps my argument guys... |

Sure it would be nice to have one guy with both skills, but we don't. I don't understand why people must choose one or the other. I said this many times when Hall's contract was up, Rogers and Hall compliment each other. No need to rant for or against either guy.

Are you talking about my prediction?
I had 14-2...lol not 12-4 I was so-so on my predictions this season so far.. I was wrong about the Eagles being bad Minny winning div. Redskins going 14-2 I did have Bears winning div. Niners winning div. (could happen?) Chiefs winning div Dallas going like 6-10 or worse...(it's in the NFC east thread I created here) Hit and miss on them...
Just asking how you had Minny and the Bears winning the division? |

Man sits here, releases the WR then turns around looking like it's Landry's fault the catch was made. I don't expect him to be perfect because I know he isn't, he went to Virginia Tech after all, but I expect him to do his job and guess what, 80% of the time, he's not doing it. Darrell Green at his current age and shape is better than Hall. |
Re: Rogers Frustrated By Some Redskins Fans
The only complaints I have had with our secondary is the amount of cushion they allow some receivers. Of course, I'm not sure if that is the design of the defensive secondary, or if that is personal preference with the DBs. Usually, neither Rogers nor Hall gets beat deep. I think what happens when you see our secondary getting picked apart is the lack of help from our safeties. Much to often this year, our safeties have been out of position which causes blown coverages. So, I can't say I have been too upset with Rogers or Hall. Would love for Rogers to have more INTs, but I just don't believe that will ever happen. I'm just happy he has the talent to break up passes when they're thrown his way.
