Re: Official The Killing Thread (Warning: Potential Spoilers)
ESPN use to be my go to site for Sports but I find SI.com way better IMO. They generally have better coverage and better writers, like Peter King. I also love Extra Mustard. ESPN.com is just so "meh", of late. Bill S. to me is really the only thing that draws me to ESPN.com anymore.
I don't mean to dig at you SS just my opinion. Also I bumped this thread for Breaking Bad and everyone ignored me, fawk this place! =)
Breaking Bad is probably my favorite show on TV right now. I just rewatched season 3 in a week because it's so damn good. I always tell people that haven't watched it to stick with it after the first season because I found it to be a little slow, ironically, but that I'd put season 3 up there with the first season of Lost or the 4th season of The Wire in terms of great TV. Obviously, I can't wait for season 4 next month! |
Re: Official The Killing Thread (Warning: Potential Spoilers)
I think SI is great. And while SI.com doesn't have a large audience, it seems to have a very dedicated, passionate audience. I used to love watching their weeknight sports show with Fred Hickman and Nick Charles (RIP)
That said, people mainly just go to Extra Mustard to see the pictures of the girls not for sports info. And I think ESPN has some outstanding writers. Our problem is information overload, a lot of the good material is buried. It's a constant struggle to find the right way to present our best info. I tend to go to places like CSNWashington and SB Nation DC for my sports because I want to read about my local teams and ESPN can't provide analysis and info at the level of detail those sites can. Anyhow, as for Breaking Bad. I keep wanting to watch that show. I saw the first episode a couple of years ago and liked it but never stayed with the show. As for The Killing, is season 2 next summer?
That is it in a nutshell! Exactly why I have trouble with that site. you must work there or something. =) Honestly do yourself a favor and watch Breaking Bad you will love it. The 1st season is really short. 2 and 3 are only like 13 episodes. IT is fun to watch on DVD becasue you can marathon them and a lot of the plot will pull from way back, that way it is fresh in your memory. As far as the Killing I am unsure of it's return. |

Walt was just such a dreamer then and full of hope(like many young family men). It also showed how you may think your life is going to be A but it really never pans out that way and you end with your life being like Y by the time it is all figured out. Like Walt saying the house was to small and they were going to have 5 children and all this other stuff. When in reality his son has MS, his 2 children are 16 years apart, he is fighting cancer, and is just a high school teacher. That is not even throwing in his drug career. |

For instance a very minor character in one episode of season 2 may end up playing a big role in a story arc in season 3. Also, the character evolution is really well thought out and organic, There have only been about 30 episodes but the characters are really different now from how they started, but in a totally believable way. Seriously SS, catch up on Netflix or whatever in time for the new season! |
Re: Official The Killing Thread (Warning: Potential Spoilers)
They answered the central mysteries on Lost. Whether people liked how they did so is another matter.
And JJ Abrams had nothing to do with Lost after creating it. He moved on to directing MI:III and never came back.
Uhhh... if you say so. And it still took them 6 seasons to kind of get around to some of it. And I'm not really a JJ Abrams hater- in fact, I love all his movies and Fringe is ridiculously cool. Lost was a huge letdown the last few seasons. And cliffhangers are what defined the show, so I'm not sure why people are mad at Killing- viewers should have expected it after the first few eps ended similarly. Be mad at AMC, not the writers. (Lost Spoiler) I specifically remember the Lost writers denying fan theories that the passengers had all died with the crash after the first episode. Now that's a straight up mislead! |

Not to extend the debate about Lost in this thread but NONE of the characters died in the crash. |

Geez, I think my memory is reinventing itself... you're right- I had to think back to the finale and remembered Jack's convo w/ his dad at the end. I still ain't down with all the major questions left in the air, however. Sorry for extending the Lost blather... time to / it. SS, please start Breaking Bad when you get the chance... I think this board needs its own BB thread and it won't be the same without you! |
Re: Official The Killing Thread (Warning: Potential Spoilers)
If I start with Season 3 would I be totally lost. And if I just watch Season 3 and have y'all catch me up on Seasons 1 and 2 would that work?
Either way, go ahead and start a Breaking Bad thread if you wish. |

Either way, go ahead and start a Breaking Bad thread if you wish.
They are super short seasons. Season one probably the slower of the three seasons is only 7 episodes, 2 and 3 are only 13. I thought 3 was the best. You really have to watch them all becasue the like we said before their are some major pilot twist that pull from the past. I promise you won't be disappointed, I personal think this is the best show on AMC maybe TV. |
Re: Official The Killing Thread (Warning: Potential Spoilers)
Need to figure out where to watch them. I don't have the Netflix DVD package, and I'm not about to stream anything illegally on my work computer
|
Re: Official The Killing Thread (Warning: Potential Spoilers)
Anyone watch Weeds?

I borrowed all mine from the Library. |
Re: Official The Killing Thread (Warning: Potential Spoilers)
I thought that's what I might do
Anyhow, we're starting to talk about too many other shows in this thread. We should discuss those in the What New Shows Are You Watching thread. And if there's enough interest for a show, give it its own thread. But let's keep this one to the Killing |
Re: Official The Killing Thread (Warning: Potential Spoilers)
The Killing is dead to me. I feel it's appropriate to hijack this thread as a statement of dissatisfaction. But that's just me. :)

Re: Official The Killing Thread (Warning: Potential Spoilers)
Well, in an interview the showrunner says the killer won't be revealed until the final episode of season 2...so I don't think I'll be watching season 2
|
Re: Official The Killing Thread (Warning: Potential Spoilers)
So...I didn't watch any of season 2. But we finally know who the killer is. One of us sort of called it
|
Re: Official The Killing Thread (Warning: Potential Spoilers)
It was a very good finale (season or series). The actress playing Rosie was actually really believable.
I think the "promise" of season 1's finale reveal really pissed viewers off (I'm probably one of four who didn't care haha). Putting that aside, the case was solved in 26 days- consider how high the case went, that ain't bad. The original Danish series was around 20 eps, iirc. AMC's break between the two seasons probably didn't help. |
Re: Official The Killing Thread (Warning: Potential Spoilers)
So I didn't watch it at all this season and don't have any real desire to do so. They just lost me at the end last year.
I am curious as to who was the killer and why. Can somebody give me the whodunit and why in three lines or less? Send me a PM, don't do the reveal in the thread as someone may want to go back and actually watch it. |

Which was one big reason I stopped watching...but I have heard she was one of the highlights of this season |

I hear ya... she actually didn't have any real scenes until the finale. Even then, they're just moments... but those glimpses showed real talent. While watching the show (and it's probably a reason why I never became upset with the Sud's direction) never really had Rosie's character in mind. Her death was the device that set up the rest of the series for me... the fallout investigation and the appropriate development of everyone involved- the family, the two investigators and the politicians. It wasn't until last night's episode that I finally saw why people were so crushed by her loss (beyond the traditional family ties). I think it was easier having seen Twin Peaks first... Laura Palmer's death triggers everything else. I can see why some viewers got tired of the Killing herrings, however. |
