He's still taking time picking up blitzes like most rookie rbs and a blitzing team like green bay is a team I know I wouldn't risk my franchise qb right out the gates against with a rookie rb picking up the blitzes from players like Woodson & Matthews. I think by midseason baring injury he'll probably be the starter, but not right off the bat especially with a shorter offseason to work on said blitz pickup. He only got 40 yards rushing tonight which is probably about 4-6 pts.
yeah, it didnt help that the Saints were behind all nite and had to throw to keep up. All 3 saw a fair amount of work which is never really great fantasy wise |
Re: 2011 Fantasy Football Thread
That Jordy Nelson late round pick for my bench on 3 of my teams probably a good call
|
Re: 2011 Fantasy Football Thread
Ugh...I shoulda went with my gut on Darren Sproles last night. Oh, well Bress tore it up.
|
Re: 2011 Fantasy Football Thread
I've got Sproles too on one of my benches, looks like he's going to be a baller. I can see him racking up a ton of catches in that offense.

Re: 2011 Fantasy Football Thread
I love when Fantasy Football gets ugly. A few new people in my work league (which has been running for many years) challenged the commissioner on some rules of course he blew up:
Let me just say – this is not “MY” league. While I have the title of commish, all that entitles me to is paying the 150 bucks 2 months before the draft. I don’t establish rules in a vacuum and i don' t have the pleasure of charing fines every time one of you gets in trouble with the law. Everything is worked with all league members based on a voting basis in an effort to make this reflect the majority’s opinion. The week 1 rule has just been a standing rule in the league for several years. And let’s be clear - I was asked about the transactions policy, after, not during, not before, but after the draft, so not quite sure how that would that affect your draft strategy. Additionally - Hartley came out of a game on Aug 28 with a hip injury, the draft was Aug 30. But since it was not reported by WNST.net, i guess it wasn't news. But to level the playing field – you all now have commissioner rights – feel free to modify the league rules as you see fit –you want week 1 transactions – have at it. |
Re: 2011 Fantasy Football Thread
Can't say I blame him.

Oh I agree but he did give everyone comish abilities so I changed the league name, waiting for the backlash. =) |

But that sounds kinda crazy, especially if you gotta deal with that at work. |
Re: 2011 Fantasy Football Thread
In the league I run, I have two brothers that are the typical pain in the ass fantasy players. Calling everyone a cheater, vetoing fair trades, complaining about all the rules, making trade offers that are 10x worse than the trades they veto, etc. I definitely see where he's coming from lol.
|
Re: 2011 Fantasy Football Thread
As a Commish myself I can tell you that it is a thankless job. I pay for all the materials used for the draft, cook, organize and everything. Gathering the players to set a draft date, getting blamed for anyone who is late, people expecting everything to be done in a matter of seconds, and not to mention everyone talking about how someone else could do a better job than you.
My best friend is in the league with me and he calls me to complain about the scoring whenever he loses. One time I had to sit on the phone with him and literally compare NFL stats with ESPN's stats all the while calculating the points with him for him to get mad at me because it didn't work out for him. Needless to say I was EFFING PISSED that day. But who else can or will do it ? |
Re: 2011 Fantasy Football Thread
There has been 1 game played and I am already down two starters. Got screwed by the whole Manning thing, then Colston broke his collarbone. This is my first time playing, beginning to see why I never wanted to play before. Now Kolb is my starting QB.

My wide receivers on one of my three teams absolutely suck (Thanks to the computer picking round 4-5). That said I ended up starting Nelson as my 2d WR (Collie is the first) so I'm damned happy he panned out for at least one week. (Now If I could only get someone to accept Dallas Clark, my bench TE, in a trade for a legit WR). |
Re: 2011 Fantasy Football Thread
OK, Guys my third and final team drafts tonight (morning for me). And it is a wierd line-up format. Start 1 QB, Flex a QB/RB/WR, 1 RBs, Flex 1 RB/WR, 2 WRs, Flex WR/TE, 1 TE, 1 D and 1 K (11 Starters). My question is should I go QB heavy early or just get the lower tier while stocking up on the RB and WR stars. I have pick 1.3 and am thinking QB but could just get the a Tier 1 RBs and WRs in the first three rounds and suck up lower tier QBs later. Advice welcome.
Fellas, I need some advice on my flex for this week. Its a non-PPR league and my choices are BenJarvus Green-Ellis vs. Miami, or Jeremy Maclin vs. St. Louis. I'm leaning towards Green-Ellis. Thoughts?
In a non PPR League I'd lean Benjarvus (Opposite for PPR leagues). |

Depends on how the points in the league are set up. If the point values favor the QB and you have more than one QB spot in your starting line up, I've known a lot of guys that go QB, QB with the first two picks if they are available b/c they will score you waaaay more points than even a top tier RB if the point system is right. That being said, if the points don't favor QBs, OR, if other people in your league snatch them up quick, there's no point going after mediocre QB's when top tier RBs are still on the board. I've done very well this year getting a top tier RB, then top tier WR, then one of the last QB's near the top of the pack (Brees, Ryan, Freeman) and going from there. There's a million ways to skin a cat my friend. A lot of it is you being able to play off the other people in your league and how they draft. Good luck. |
Re: 2011 Fantasy Football Thread
I've got a new team.
Rodgers Nicks M. Williams(Tampa) Garcon D. McFadden Steven Jackson Vernon Davis Sidney Rice Jacoby Ford Sproles Helu(spite pick) A. Hernandez Brandon Pettigrew Marshawn Lynch Sebastian Janikowski |
Re: 2011 Fantasy Football Thread
Earlier,I mentioned the sucky WRs I have on one of my teams. I started Nelson, he panned out, the other guy is Collie. Do you all think I should stick with Collie over Armstrong, Malcom Floyd and Eddie Royal (note I'm starting Gates which is why I'm staying away from Floyd). BTW FYI the rest of my Starters are, QB Rivers, RBs Foster, Gore, Flex Fred Jackson, Gates, Gano and the Skins.

Re: 2011 Fantasy Football Thread
I am regretting not drafting Skins D with my last pick.
Also Armstrong and Gaffney are free agents in most leagues. Who is the better pick up? |
I am regretting not drafting Skins D with my last pick.

Re: 2011 Fantasy Football Thread
I own Brady & Welker in my warpath league... world domination
|
Re: 2011 Fantasy Football Thread
Should I drop Johnny knox or Chad Ochocinco or antonio brown or none of them so I could pick up Randall Cobb
|
Re: 2011 Fantasy Football Thread
Should I drop Johnny knox or Chad Ochocinco or antonio brown or none of them so I could pick up Randall Cobb
I don't necessarily know where Cobb is going to get his catches in that offense, but I think he's got a ton more upside than Ochocinco.
You're going to have to wait out Knox and Brown because neither are starters at this point. But both are better than starters on their rosters. It's going to take some time. |
Re: 2011 Fantasy Football Thread
i still think ochocinco will have a 6+ TD year and over 900 yards.
|
Re: 2011 Fantasy Football Thread
Ok so this might be a dumb ass question but I'll throw it out there. Who would you start this week. Brady? Or Grossman? SD played New England tough last year and Grossman is facing a defense that gave up 400 to a rookie. I'm thinking about benching Brady. Am I that stupid????
|
Re: 2011 Fantasy Football Thread
Grossman has the better matchup.
It's tough to bench Brady, but he's got the tougher opponent and he's working on a short week. |
Re: 2011 Fantasy Football Thread
so, anyone have an opinion of starting Jahvid Best over Jamaal Charles? I know on the face of it Charles is better, but he has to go against Detroit's line, vs Best against KC's.
|
Re: 2011 Fantasy Football Thread
I wouldnt drop Ochocinco. Its a toss up between Knox or Brown...but I would wait a week on Cobb, wouldnt get him yet.
|
Re: 2011 Fantasy Football Thread
Which defense to start:
Denver (home vs Cincy) Dallas (road vs San Fran) |
Re: 2011 Fantasy Football Thread
Which defense to start:
Denver (home vs Cincy) Dallas (road vs San Fran)
That's a tough one here...I would probably lean a bit more towards Dallas, just because of DeMarcus Ware. I can see him being all over Alex Smith. Also, Frank Gore was a non-factor against Seattle (who is not a defensive powerhouse). I think Cincy is going to run all over Denver to protect their rookie QB. And Denver is just not built to stop the run. |

Yeah, my starting D is Chicago, but i dont like them on the road at Naw'Oleans. The thing i dont like is all the injuries in Dallas secondary, but probably roll with them. |
Re: 2011 Fantasy Football Thread
I hate dumb sh*t like this: I already have someone in our pay league who has dropped Jermey Maclin to waivers.
Dude when you have someone of value, send me a f*ckin trade request and we can work something out. damn |

Percy Harvin is killing me not contributing in the return game.

Foster's hammy is killing me so far. Luckily I have Tate, but I feel like it's going to be a weekly gamble with starting either guy.

Re: 2011 Fantasy Football Thread
Dear Mario Manningham,
You suck. Feck you very much. Your pal Alvin. |
Re: 2011 Fantasy Football Thread
Went 4-1 in my fantasy leagues this week....but the one loss was the most important, the pay league.

I just traded Foster for Hightower straight, as I think Tate's going to take over that job this year and Foster is going to be lucky to split equally. |
Re: 2011 Fantasy Football Thread
I have CJ and Ringer on the bench...I might actually have to start playing Ringer more...unless CP signs there and just screws everything up
