Re: Redskins DE Jarvis Jenkins Has Torn ACL
I dont understand people who are like take the younger guy even if he's less talented and doesn't know the system just because he's younger.
Philip D knows the system from last year, and he's a BIG strong body who can do what he's asked to do in a limited role for at least this season. Don't see why people think younger is ALWAYS better. I would rather have Daniels then some young guy who wont make the team next year when JJ is back and needs to learn a system before he is even effective. |

We just need a one year stopgap, and P. Daniels fills that role. He's not a pass rusher anymore, but he can still be an effective run stopper in limited action. He's stayed in good shape, and he knows the system. There aren't any teams out there giving away young talented 3-4 defensive ends with plenty of upside right now. |

pd could work out but they way i see it there are 90 guys in each teams camp and all those rosters will be cut down to 53. which means there will be a bunch of preseason footage of guys playing in a 3-4, i think they'll be able to find a decnt young talent to bring in cheaper than they would with pd and with more potential. |

Maybe they do, maybe they don't. I don't have any inside sources that tell me what their plans are, so I guess I'll have to wait like everybody else. Either way, whoever we bring in, I doubt will have as much of an impact as Jenkins was primed to have. |
Re: Redskins DE Jarvis Jenkins Has Torn ACL
ive been bummed about this so much i didnt want to comment.
With JJ, I went from terrible reach to best pick in our draft. |

We have a plethora of RB's and WR's can't we trade with someone?

I thought Daniels did well in his limited role last year. He was mostly on goal line packages and he was a very strong presence then. It wont hurt to bring in the big guy for 9-10 snaps a game on defense to give the starters a breather |

Now people are chanting bring them back simply because they already know the system. |
Re: Redskins DE Jarvis Jenkins Has Torn ACL
They may still bring someone in but here's your answer...
4. Darrion Scott: The NFL is all about pouncing on an opportunity, and that’s what Scott was provided with once rookie Jarvis Jenkins departed during the second series with what ended up being a torn ACL. The way it’s currently constructed, the roster has Stephen Bowen and Adam Carriker as the starters at end, followed by Kedric Golston and now Scott as the reserves. Both of the back-ups will play if effective. Scott played 19 first-half snaps with the first-team defense, and he has a chance to stick with a strong final preseason game.
Five Redskins who helped their stock |
Re: Redskins DE Jarvis Jenkins Has Torn ACL
It is rather unfortunate, but it is a good thing the FO took precautionary measures. In reality, they could reduce preseason to two games, the proposal about the 18 game season with only 2 preseason games showed that.

Re: Redskins DE Jarvis Jenkins Has Torn ACL
The way I see it I am thrilled with the trade off we got against the Ravens.
The outcome was more than important. It could be worth everything. NFL players go down all the time. Every game. Jenkins looks like a very fine pick, but the Washington Redskins MORE THAN HELD THEIR OWN against the Baltimore Ravens in a game that NFL teams "come to play" in and quite honestly we made those bitches look nervous....... and hardly anybody does that to Baltimore. After smacking around the Steelers and Colts what do you think is going through the minds of this team? They are thinking f this! We can play with anyone. This is a major breakthrough. MAJOR. |

In fact we looked significantly worse after he went down. |

Wow. You can't possibly be serious. |
Re: Redskins DE Jarvis Jenkins Has Torn ACL
I don't think we looked worse. I think Scott can be a gap filler this year after looking at some of his game tape this preseason. he seems to struggle against the run and doesn't break to many double teams, but I think he could get better if he learns to use his hands a little better and with more playtime.
In Nickel packages I would like to see us put Cofield in Jenkins spot to still get a great push. I was really looking forward to Jenkins becoming a mold/starter in this soon to be great 3/4 defense. If he would of panned out and stayed on the track he was on. He could of done great things this year, and our draft board would of looked like genious's |
Wow.

Re: Redskins DE Jarvis Jenkins Has Torn ACL
I wish you a full speedy recovery JJ#99. I think will we wait to see teams trim down their rosters and see who gets cut this week. We know Daniels is out there but I rather bring a younger D-lineman in to fill the spot or a vet who can fit our 3-4 defense.

Well........now that you mention it, if there is a bright spot....the timing is pretty good as we will have had a few days to review who is available and may have an opportunity in the coming few weeks to steal a potential quality guy that another team was quietly trying to.....squirrel away on the PS or wherever, |

I'm sure the team as a whole realizes they need to step it up, regardless of injury or not. I think what Wilso is saying that now since it's a reality that a major part of the defense is injured, they rest of them needs to make sure they don't miss a beat. |
Re: Redskins DE Jarvis Jenkins Has Torn ACL
I think what's sort of being lost in all of this is the possibility that Adam Carriker could actually might have a good season, mininizing the lost of Jarvis Jenkins.

Carriker will be solid. Obviously not wanting to lose Jenkins, but a year in the Skins strength/conditioning program and learning the system will only be a huge benefit when he returns next year at full strength. It will be like an extra draft pick that has an impact in 2012 when we should be poised for a playoff run.

My take was more of a "glass is half full" assessment on the outcome of the game. Yes a promising young player was lost for the season....but we looked really good against a very strong team. An important battle was won even though a good man fell. |

Re: Redskins DE Jarvis Jenkins Has Torn ACL
The 49ers have rookie DeMarcus Dobbs DE who signed as FA out of Georgia and looks great. If the 49ers cut him and plan on bringing him to the PS, the Redskins should snap him up. This kid has looked great during the pre-season and just might make the team.

Reading about ACL tears - could affect his productivity on the field going forward. What bad luck.
