It's the Redskins vs. Cowboys on Monday Night. It's a big deal. That said, I don't notice "the media" making an extra big deal out of this
Well its front page on ESPN so maybe they arent making a "big" deal about it,but they are making something out of it |
Re: D.Hall says he's targeting Romo's ribs
Hall's comments are all over the internet now, so it is a big deal. He better backup his words:

Re: D.Hall says he's targeting Romo's ribs
This is only a "big deal" because it's the Redskins vs. Cowboys on Monday Night Football.
|
Re: D.Hall says he's targeting Romo's ribs
If this defense is for real than this is something that'll inspire them, nothing wrong with it if we come to play ball and don't pull a Philly.

WTF are they doing with the camera? Is this a show we're suppose have seizures watching? |
Re: D.Hall says he's targeting Romo's ribs
I don't know what to believe.
I could easily see this being a media trick for this game to make the Skins guess as to who's going to play QB, And/or make us want to bring more pressure which is what they want to expose maybe? I don't know for some reason part of me really thinks he's hurt, another part of me thinks that he just has a bruised rib that they said was broken and punctured to make Romo look more tough and better and respectable (because of his dumb game against the jets) and that this whole thing is just to make us think. I'm starting to confuse myself. |
Re: D.Hall says he's targeting Romo's ribs
dont know if this was posted already but...
RT @calvinwatkins Tony Romo said it hurts to breathe and laugh. He also has to sleep in a chair. |
Re: D.Hall says he's targeting Romo's ribs
This is only a "big deal" because it's the Redskins vs. Cowboys on Monday Night Football.
gotta disagree it could be sunday at 1 and still be a story. it's romo and for whatever reason espn loves him as much as brady. if it was monday night vs the cards and d hall said this about kolb, then it's a non story |
Re: D.Hall says he's targeting Romo's ribs
Who cares. Stuff like this is said all over the league. Everyone on Dallas knows we are going to be trying to hit him in the ribs, Hall saying it doesn't really change the thoughts in their heads.
I like the way the team has kind of snuck around and been quite, not really saying much and just winning games. I would rather the players just be quite and play ball and just win games and let the play do the talking. But what Hall said is nothing the Cowboys didnt know all ready, so I dont think its really bulletin board material. Know if Laron said he was going to knock Wittens, or Bryants head off when they come across the middle, then that may be more material. |
Re: D.Hall says he's targeting Romo's ribs
hope it is a big god d*** deal...whatever it takes to make this a heated rivalry again. i long for the days when redskin fans HATED the cowboys. remember when the skin went in to dallas, won, and coach allen ripped down the banner on the way out? you know what i say? screw romo, and the cowboys! and BSB welcome back...
|
Right, every single analyst on ESPN has the same exact opinion of Romo, thank you for paying attention.
And what exactly are you disagreeing with, because I essentially said if it's Skins vs. Cards it's not a big deal. |
Re: D.Hall says he's targeting Romo's ribs
If we go out on Monday night and smack Romo and his Cowboys team around, I'm pretty sure at least a few people are going to be talking about how D-Hall set the tone. It's not like he's making a guarantee that we're gonna win or anything like that and he's not putting our defense in a tough positions because everyone knows were gonna get after Romo (or Kitna).

Re: D.Hall says he's targeting Romo's ribs
You are correct and I will give you that, but I can't help but feel from my point of view we've had two weeks of no bs in the media, no dumb stories distracting our lockerroom, just guys going in puttin' in work and going out and playing great games, and now we see that one of the most turbulent Redskins is saying unnecessary things in the media about things we already know.
It's not the fact that he's gonna go out there and occasionally try to hit Romo in the ribs to knock him out, I just wish he was saying that to anybody but the media. Same with Orakpo too, but to a lesser extent. We don't need to go into the game with a bulls eye on our backs, which is what all this talking creates. And also, our recent track record shows that we have a hard time walking the walk after we talk the talk. Now this team could be different, but all it does is put added pressure on us to perform and back it up.
Really? Didn't Hightower say something like he guaranteed a win over the Cards last week and that pissed them off. |

Meh, pretty insignificant in the big picture. And certainly insignificant compared to the Haynesworth saga, or the drama with McNabb. |

I was responding to the post saying "for the past two weeks no medis BS". Which was not totally true. |
Re: D.Hall says he's targeting Romo's ribs
Hightower's comments probably distracted the Cardinals' lockerroom more than the Redskins' lockerroom. The same will probably be the case with Hall's comments.

Well, depends on what you define as media BS. I guess I don't see what the big deal is. If the Skins are truly distracted by these comments, we have big problems. |
Really? Didn't Hightower say something like he guaranteed a win over the Cards last week and that pissed them off.
Valid point. Of course cause its D Hall it gets played out as a mistake. Im sure if D Hall guarenteed the win people be all over with hatt. |
Re: D.Hall says he's targeting Romo's ribs
I love this. It's how a rivalry should be.
What I do not hear anyone talking abouyt in the media...what question did the reporter ask? My bet is that they SPECIFICALLY asked about hitting Romo in the ribs and baited this response...but of course, only the response is replayed, never the question. Regardless, I fully support him. I want our players to be targeting our rival's QB, ESPECIALLY when he's vulnerable. Jerry Jones (we all know it's his decision here) will be stupid to let Romo even play against Hall, Orakpo, Kerrigan, Fletcher and a returning LaRon Landry! I almost hope we DO see Romo on Monday night. Of course, that will be the last anyone sees of him for a while after Monday. :) I also think this again shows evidence that the media, especially ESPN, love to target the Redskins negatively every chance they get. How could I say this, just because they're covering the manufactured "story" with Hall? Well, look what they're NOT covering 24/7...Albert Haynesworth taking plays off in New England. When he was with us, they covered what he was having for breakfast. When he plays for the beloved Patriots...Albert who? Re: D.Hall says he's targeting Romo's ribs
This is something most defensive NFL players do, Hall just spoke up about it.
I agree with the above that JJ should keep Romo out...but he won't since he rarely makes smart long term decisions. |

I'll agree with you but I understand what he's trying to say. If the Cowboys were on top of the NFCE we see all the Cowboy highlights and Romo is a god and the team is going to the SB. If the Cowboys are last in their division we see Cowboy highlights and how Romo is a god and how they "will" right the ship. When the Redskins were last in the NFCE not a word and hardly mentioned unless there was something to show worth laughing at. Now that they are leading the NFCE, the Skins are fake and won't last. Grossman is not a QB. The media makes excuses for two teams we beat outright. and it's still the Romo show. Our only media coverage is Hall talking about hitting their beloved Romo. |
This d-bag needs to keep his thoughts to himself. Why on earth would you go out of your way to give a team bulletin board material? D-hall should know better.
True, I'd rather Hall just keep his thoughts to himself and just go out an play ball. By publicly stating his intentions, and considering the NFL's stringent policies on protecting players, Hall has disclosed intent. And he will be watched closely. I know and understand that targeting an injury is common practice in the NFL, but to go out and publicly state the intention was not the best of decisions. Now any hit, whether intentional or not that could be called into question will be heavily scrutinized by the officials and the league. And he could be setting himself up for hefty fines or even a suspension. |

If he has a fractured rib and a "Punctured" or "Collapsed" lung (BS) then it is on the Cowboys and the NFL if he gets injured. Not D. Hall. See when D. Hall lines up for a blitz, his job is to go after the QB. He cant be fined or flagged for that. And to avoid helmet to helmet contact he will aim for the number on the jersey. If Romo is on the field Monday Night he is considered fit for play and fair game. I believe Romo has bigger problems (K.O.) to worry about than D. Hall. Putting Romo in is a liability to the Cowboys only. And in the end, can only reflect bad on the Cowboys organization if Romo goes out. HTTR! |
Re: D.Hall says he's targeting Romo's ribs
Really? Didn't Hightower say something like he guaranteed a win over the Cards last week and that pissed them off.
Yeah but the impact of that is minuscule compared to this. Sure it "pissed off" Darnell Dockett, but he didn't play that pissed off. When your name is as big as D.Hall's, and you start talking about your intent to injure Tony Romo further, that not only catches their attention, even though they know we would do it anyway, it catches the national media's attention, and also fyi in case you aren't aware we're playing on Monday night, which gets 10 times as much attention as a 1 pm Sunday game. It's not a big deal if we go out and win in the end, but if we lose all we're going to hear is "well they talked some shit but they didn't back it up, as usual. We're going to have to put up all broadcast hearing about D.Hall and you know the league is going to take the first opportunity to fine him if they see any type of play where it looks like Hall is going for his ribs. |
Re: D.Hall says he's targeting Romo's ribs
Looks like Tony is slated for a flak jacket and a painkiller shot if he plays.

If you put a player on the field, you put him at risk regardless of current injury. You are absolutely correct. My point was simply that Hall went public with his intentions, so that brings any hit under scrutiny by the officials and the league. Regardless of any actual intent on the given play from scrimmage. Point being, that now, with that public statement out there, the league and the officials will be watching Hall very closely is all I am saying and any hit, regardless of intent could, stress COULD result in Hall getting disciplinary action. If he would have kept his mouth shut, then no worries. But its out there now and he cannot "undo" it. Regardless, still pretty bold talk for a guy who has a grand total of 1 career sack in an 8 years. |

Re: D.Hall says he's targeting Romo's ribs
isnt it illegal to lead with your helmet to a defenseless player?
defenseless player either being 1) qb who hasnt established himself as a runner [i.e. tuck the ball and start running] 2) wr who hasnt established himself as a runner yet 3) punter or kicker i dont see the big deal with what hall said, the man likes to talk. but like rex said to him, hall doesnt like to tackle. he usually does a kinda side arm graple o-lay thing if the runner is coming straight at him free from other defenders ..which is what he should do since hes a speed corner and not pull a landry-jacobs incident. looking forward to some pain monday night. |

Re: D.Hall says he's targeting Romo's ribs
F the flags, F the ref's/NFL protecting Romo, F getting your panties in a bunch over this. It really isn't that big of a deal to me. I could see if he said I'm going low on him to tear his knee up. He said his ribs are hurting, I'm gonna hit him in his ribs. What is wrong with that. Should he have said we're not going to target Romo's ribs, we're better than that. I'll grab him and hope the ref calls it a sack ?
Just enjoy the entertainment of the whole thing. If they lose, it won't be because of what Hall said about Romo's ribs, even though I'm sure many will attribute the loss to that though. I said all that to say F Dallas and I hope they put his ass out the game. |
