Lolwut? I would love to have a bigtime playmaking wideout here, but I'd much rather have our qb of the next decade.

I think SF will be a very winnable game. Dallas as well. NE, not a chance in this season, unless they play AH all day long.

In all your years posting here, I've never known you to be confident of anything regarding the Skins

As for me, I think it's been frustrating but for the most part we've been competitive all season long and I'm not going to have such a dim view to think we can't even beat some teams.

If you can't be confident of beating Miami, than nothing said is going to change your opinion. Our schedule has tough opponents, but Miami, Seattle (regardless of their victory over the Giants), and Minnesota are all very winnable games. In fact we may finally break the Rookie QB streak against Minnesota. We also will win at least one more division game, maybe two.

Well, considering how we have done in that time I think I was perfectly justified in my pessimism.

Trust me, I love the Redskins and seeing them embarrassed by the likes of the Panthers breaks my heart.

By the way, I was confident that Joe Gibbs would sort it all out and return us to the glory days of his first stint, but that didn't happen.

P.S. I didn't say we were going to go 3-13, just that I wouldn't make us a big favourite for any remaining game.

Re: Predict the Redskins record for the rest of the season

this is a 6-8 win team and i'll stick by that. probably looking at 6-7 wins. just good enough to not get any of the top qb's in next year draft.

WilbursHomie 10-25-2011 02:09 PM

Re: Predict the Redskins record for the rest of the season

I'm sticking with my pre season 8-8. But ideally I'd be happy with 5-11 and a top draft pic if those two wins are against Dallas and Philly. I would talk trash like we won the freaking SB if we beat those two teams.

Re: Predict the Redskins record for the rest of the season

I have a really bad feeling, like a 5-11 type feeling. We can win the Miami game, but I think we will lose the Buffalo game as well as the Seattle game. We will take one more division win, probably against the Eagles. I cannot see this team with the quarterback play and lack of defense showed the last 2 weeks, along with all of the injuries, winning more than 6 games.

5-11 probable

6-10 Maybe.......... We will have the 7th or 8th pick in next years draft.

New England isn't invincible. Their defense blows, and I say we have as good as chance at beating them as anyone. They really have no run game and Brady has shown that he often folds when he faces lots of pressure. I think we'll lose the Jets game before I do the New England game just based off match ups. I wouldn't be surprise if we won or lost to the Pats, but I'm going to on a limb with a W.

New England is certainly beatable but we don't really match up well with them. Their TE's are going to have big days against our LB's. That's where the big disadvantage is. Outside of Welker they really don't have any WR's that scare anyone.

Re: Predict the Redskins record for the rest of the season

After the latest injuries, 7-9 is my best case. There just isn't enough quality depth on this roster for the long haul. If we lose to Miami, the season could completely unravel.

We'll win against Buffalo, Miami, NYJ, Philly, Seattle, San Fran and NE(luck mojo from that Packers game makes an encore!!!!!).

Our team is not that good to begin with. We barely came out of Arizona alive and had an underwhelming performance against the Rams. Hell, if Jim Zorn could stick around after losing to the 0-19 Lions, Mike Shanahan is a lock to stay.

According to various reports, Snyder began looking for a new coach after that loss to the Lions. Zorn essentially had been fired for weeks before the announcement was made.

That said, the talk of Shanny's ouster is premature.

Snyder indeed started looking for a new coach, but the actual pink slip didn't come until later in the season. So expecting Shanahan to see the pink slip right after the game is outright lunacy.

I'm already quite aware Zorn not being fired that day DOES NOT mean that Snyder still wanted to keep him. I'm not that dense at judging someone's (non)-actions. But I didn't say Snyder did not want to replace Zorn. I did not say that Snyder did not want to get rid of him for Shanahan after many a drink. I ONLY said he didn't fire him right after the Lions game. But that is not enough, I must accept that Daniel Snyder did fire Zorn after the Lions game. He was no longer on the sidelines from week 5 onwards and thusly, already packed his bags and went home. Q.E.D

I agree. It blows me away that anyone would even mention that Shanny will or should be fired. That kind of talk points out that its been so long since the Skins have been a well run organization that even the fans now dont understand what should be done to make an organization successful.

Re: Predict the Redskins record for the rest of the season

At this rate it will be a push to beat 3-13. The O-Line is a shambles, and they have made all the wrong moves there, there are no starting quality QBs, and we are schizophrenic in offensive play calling.

We're snake bit.

Our defense is frustrating, but not our problem. Our O-line and our QB are, as always, the primary points of weakness. We went into this season with the same unproven player in the #2 spot at both guard and the center positions. When Lichstensteiger went down and we moved Montgomery to guard it was over. We compounded the loss of one player by screwing up two positions and putting a rookie is as O-line play caller and snap man.

Done.

And then what do we do? We sign a guard. This leaves us with no backup at the center spot.

That one move pretty much ended my hopes for this year. Sometime after it's too late they will move Montgomery back to Center where he should be, but not before Cook gets manhandled enough to prove to the coaches they made the wrong choice.

I mean hell, we have 8 Receivers (12 if you count TEs) on this squad and 8 O-Linemen... given that 5 O-lineman are on the field, in the trenches, for every offensive play it seems to me that they could have maybe carried a few less WRs who will rarely see the field used the roster spots to create a functional depth chart for the O-line?

Naaaaaaaaaa. That's crazy talk.

Mayor 11-01-2011 12:35 PM

Re: Predict the Redskins record for the rest of the season

As a follow-up, I was looking around the league at other teams and was surprised to find that Green Bay has no 2nd string for their Guard positions.

Their starting 5 are amazing, but it will be interesting to see what happens to that O-line if they lose one of their guards.

Also amazing to note: Green Bay has zero injuries so far this season.
