I doubt we will suck as much as people think next yr. If we draft a Qb and horde lineman, things should click pretty quick for us. I could see us 8-8 or 9-7 next year. We have a difficult schedule next year, but it's doable. |
thing is tannehill isnt a viable option to start from day 1, nor is he a 1st round qb imo.
Tannehill couldnt be any worse next year than Beck or Grossman. Plus he is young, has upside, and can really move around in the pocket and run if needed. Plus if we traded back we would pick up an extra pick to get another player to help out. I think Tannehill is worth the risk if we can get him in the back half of the 1st round if RGIII is not available or goes back to school. |

At this point I'm not terribly worried about that. We could be looking at the second pick of the draft. Aside from luck, we could get whoever we want. |

Initially I didn't like him (what with the recent crop of terrible USC qbs) but I'm warming up to him. |
Re: Build the Redskins for 2012
In the top half of the draft, the team should target a QB, OT, and a S/CB. I just don't think this team is far away from turning it around. Right now, Shanahan is trying to shuffle guys around to see who's capable of stepping up but, it's also causing a disruption with team chemistry.

Interesting... I guess that means there is no consideration for Andrew Luck, then. |

I haven't heard of any, but my personal feeling is if we have a top 5 pick we're going to try for no. 1.

Re: Build the Redskins for 2012
We are a little premature on this thread and what we are not taking into much account is the development of the young guys. Riley, Hankerson, Paul, Mo Hurt and Austin still have a chance to seriously show before the end of the season. If Riley and Hankerson can play like they did yesterday at a consistent level, then we can pencil them in as starters next year. Riley was really impressive yesterday.
Im not giving up on Paul, Hurt or Austin but I think the next move the coaching staff should make is splitting time on punt and kick returns with Banks. We need to give Paul and Austin more work there. When it comes to disappointment in player growth, Banks is on the top of my list. |

Re: Build the Redskins for 2012
Honestly, with HOW bad we are in 2011, I say trade/cut/not re-sign everyone not in the long term plans (3 years down the road). 2012 we aren't going to be good. Its not like we have a bunch of young players that can emerge (yes I know we have alot of young players on the roster...but very few have shown true potential). I'm not a scout so I don't want to evaluate the talent of the players I'm iffy on, but its plain as day to the average idiot that we need serious and numerous changes to be somewhat good. This cannot happen in a year.
Suck for luck pre-season movement not looking so bad right now eh? Not really much to root for anymore. I say we won 3 too many. |

Just rumors I've heard. Thing is the team can't really do much scouting on him anyway at this point since he's not a senior. |

"B"-needs another year to mature? You either have talent or you don't, spending another year in college isn't going to make him any better then spending a year on the bench in the pros. "D"-Didn't USC have a ton of their top players transfer, have significant recruiting restrictions, and get their 7th choice for head coach? USC might historically do that, but today I'd say their talent level isn't elite, hell they're not even ranked this year. "E"- The fact that USC has 3 starting qbs in the nfl means they're pretty good with qbs. I agree none of them are elite, but it's irrelevant either way because along those lines of reason Luck won't be any good because Stanford doesn't have any elite (or any) QB's in the nfl. |

1. Sell the team to Mark Cuban.
2. Ask the NCAA if we can join. (Set up some type of ilitlererasy college) 3. Move back into RFK 4. Trade all picks to get Luck Just do one of these pleeeeeease |

I'm hearing from my sources that he has a long release as well as a low one which doesn't really bode well for a QB that's already considered short. Right now I would first see how viable trading up for Luck is, hope that the Colts are willing to deal and make an Eli Manning like trade. Plan B would be to look at Tannehill and Moore. |

As much as I would love it to be good in like 5 years, Shanahan doesn't seem to have any patience or care about care about re-building at all. If I remember right the Manning trade was two firsts, a second, a third, and a fifth. I just can't see a man like Mike, who is trying to win now, and seems to have the philosophy of quantity over quality (defer to last two drafts), give up that many picks. He wants alot of players and he wants them now. Personally I would love the move, but I think if we do it we''d have to wait a good 5 years before being competitive. We already lack young talent on our team, and to give up so many picks would further that void. Yeah luck is good, but no infant qb in the league can peyton manning his team to the playoffs consistently. He's going to need time to develop or pieces around him now to win. Also I think the colts would be crazy to draft anybody but luck. |

MS knows what he's got. He's building this thing for the future. I just don't get all of the fans who thought we'd win 11 games this year. I like the optimism, but realistically our talent is not up to par right now.
There's alot to be positive about 2012 though: Kerrigan Orakpo Jenkins Riley-possibly Helu Hankerson TW Davis |

Re: Build the Redskins for 2012
The Redskins definitely great on defense. Last year's draft picks Kerrigan and Jarvis Jenkins, will probably be starters. The defensive line would have gotten more push this season had Jenkins not been lost in preseason.
This coming draft, Bruce Allen and Mike Shanahan will have to look at the offense through a microscope. Both of them can see through their own two eyes that offensively the Redskins are terrible. Anytime a team scores just 20 points in three games then something is wrong. They need to take a look at Jamaal Brown, and determine if he's going to be a starter or if they're going to draft a RT. With Santana Moss aging but still very productive, the Redskins may have found his replacement with Leonard Hankerson. It's too bad we never saw a tandem of Hankerson and Moss. Terrance Austin may play the slot, but the Redskins need one more playmaker at WR. At last and certainly not least, the Redskins need to draft a young QB. Even if they have to trade up to the top 3 or 4th slot, they need to get a QB. If they can make a deal with Indianapolis with the chance of getting in position to draft 1st overall, then that's what Bruce and Mike need to do. |

Sure. I get that. We'll have a QB through the draft next year. This team had too many holes to fill to select a QB last year. My point is, there are some positive about the way they are building this team. Of course it's early but in the 2011 draft we hit on: Jenkins-From reports Helu- very talented Hankerson-early but showed some real potential last week Hey, I didn't have any patience w/ Vinny & Co. I do have patience w/ Allen/Shanahan. |

JLC spewing a small bit of garbage, again.
Redskins fans need only think back to Joe Gibbs's comeback to see how abruptly things can end.
Yeah, one of our players died and Gibbs was understandably emotionally and mentally spent. Lame.
Both teams passed on what looks like it could be a banner class for rookie quarterbacks to instead address defense high in the 2011 draft.
Let's think without hindsight for a moment. How did folks rate Blaine Gabbert, Christian Ponder and Andy Dalton? Cam Newton was not going to anyone but Carolina. Same with Locker and Tennessee. Even those two had question marks. Besides, if we did trade up, he'd probably be skewering us for neglecting the rest of the team, i.e our crappy Kerrigan-less defense. And the Browns pretty much would have had to pick Dalton as their new QB if they wanted a QB, unless they traded up. |

Re-Sign :
Fletcher (continue to develop RILEY) Cooley (structure out to keep him here 1-3 more years) Hightower (clearly he's an asset, I love HELU but they both need each other) Will Montgomery (dude is solid as can be) Cut: Daughty, Armstrong, Banks (sorry dude, you have done less than Randle El this year and you can't physically be in a game situation) Sellers Free Agency: Don't get VJ from San Diego .. we don't need those characters Sign Reggie Wayne .. develop HankTime, Keep Gaffney, Keep Moss, Keep Paul Draft: QB - 1st Round .. period end of conversation All other picks should be used for O-Line, DB's, BTW someone mentioned Vontaze Burfict out of ASU, I FREAKING LOVE THAT BEAST .. seen him lay the wood for the past few years out here in Tempe but if it means not getting a QB in first round you just can't do it. Also .. saw this on yahoo today .. Get Peyton Manning .. just do it .. sign him for 3 years & let rookie QB develop under him ( this is the Kellen Moore type project) When I look at this team and how the season has gone yeah it sucks, 3-1 gave us false hope but the reality is .. sucking this season will help us get our QB next year and this team will be young and not as far away as people think ... we are young & talented at a LOT of positions .. injury plagued season with a turnover machine in Rex and a UFL QB in Beck .. with all that said .. watch us go beat Dallas this weekend .. that's really all I want .. one more weekend to smile until season is over. |

I guess it is referring to this. If not, he's ****ing nuts. Sure, Peyton is one of the greatest of all time, but he more than likely can't take much more of a pounding on that neck of his. We need a young QB and young talent around him. We can't cough up multiple first rounders for a short-term QB. |
