So the big name has to be Drew Brees. Unrestricted free agent, talks have broken down with New Orleans, it would be HUGE.

Of course ain't gonna happen but it fits your criteria.

skinsfaninok 12-22-2011 11:52 PM

Like I said in The other thread, the skins are now very much alive for a QB, if rams get 1st pick they could trade it to us or trade Bradford to us. Same for Vikings with Ponder

I don't think I'd hesitate to send our 2nd rounder for either one. Of course that may not be the asking price

Anyone who thinks Drew Brees is going anywhere is smoking something. He's gonna be a Saint for life. Once this season is over he's going to get a massive deal.

The talks haven't "broken down." Brees himself wanted to back away until the season is over because he doesn't want them to be any kind of distraction during their legit Super Bowl push. Smart. He knows he'll get his. Put the team first now, the cha ching will follow suit.

I haven't read a thread in it's entirety in a while. Someone tell Barkley that he's a bitch for not entering the 2012 draft and that he won't be the top rated/drafted QB in the 2013 draft either.

Well I say we pick RGIII if he is there when we pick if not take the BPA. We can pick a rookie QB in the 2nd rd or trade down and get more picks.
NFL analyst Hub Arkush, on The Boers and Bernstein Show (Chicago’s 670 The Score), said Wednesday that he has heard that the Rams could be interested in drafting USC phenom QB Matt Barkley in the first round and trading Sam Bradford.

This is only a rumor, but it would be an interesting, cost-effective way to get a quarterback that maybe Devaney and McDaniels feel better suits their system and get an extra player, pick or both in the process.

The teams that might be interested include the Browns and Redskins as their GM’s – Tom Heckert and Bruce Allen – were both high on Bradford coming out of college.

Don’t forget the Browns have a collage of picks from the Julio Jones trade with the Falcons in last year’s draft.

Barkley has not declared for the draft yet, yet he comes from the same conference where three QB’s did no help to their draft stock by playing as seniors: Jake Locker, Matt Leinart and Andrew Luck.

TonyPauline Tony Pauline
Also- as of today the word is Robert Griffin III/Baylor & Landry Jones/Oklahoma will also return to school. Could change, still interesting

I think it's funny though that now that Barkley has announced that he'll stay the "wait till next year" crowd has started to come out of the woodwork across Redskin Nation. Though I would say that I like the idea of drafting Blackmon in the first and then using the second round pick to get Foles or even Moore provided the front office believes in either of those guys and drafting Moore in the second doesn't turn into a huge reach.

I mean Moore is a winner.....right?
^That's the plan B Dirt'.
Thanks, but this plan will most likely change a 1,000 times before draft day. I'm still curious to see if Moore can work his way up to being a second round pick. Everything I'm reading now says that he's a 5th round pick, maybe a 4th if he's lucky but at the same time he's a polarizing figure that apparently has NFL scouts split between those that love him and those that want nothing to do with him. And as the choosen one Tebow use to say, you only need to make one team like you, or something like that.

skinsfaninok 12-23-2011 06:40 AM

Rivers isn't leaving SD folks just not happening have u seen his December record? Lol

I think the skins could actually come away golden in April, think about it the rams most likely won't win another game and if we beat the Vikings they won't win another game so we could possibly get Luck, Bradford or Ponder.. Not to mention if the colts get the 2nd pick they prob won't take RGIII (if he comes out) so there's another option to move up. Cleveland , And Miami are really our only true threats at taking a QB in the top 5. I don't see Miami moving up to do it just because Matt Moore has looked very good this season.

Seattle needs a QB bad but rumor was they would have moved to get Barkley, obviously that's changed now so really we are in good shape to land a young Franchise type QB in April preferably Andrew Luck for me anyway but I'd happily take Sam or Ponder any day over what's out there

Luck in the NFC though is a huge risk. Maybe it's not so bad if he's stuck automatically winning the NFC West every year in St. Louis but assuming we did trade for the likes of Bradford it would have to result in us getting the QB we expected back in 2010. Also I wonder what the cost would be. Could we get away with a second rounder, just send a first, or will it take multiple early picks.

skinsfaninok 12-23-2011 06:55 AM

To get sam? I'd probably say a 2nd rounder or Maybe a 2013 1st and a 4th or something. Now to get luck I'd say 2 first and a 2nd or more. I think Luck is the guy to save a franchise and we are desperate so I expect the skins to go hard at getting him in April.

Listening to the Colts' Irsay, this whole scenario with Peyton Manning's contract extension when the team knew he was hurt, and the handicapped Colts possibly in position to draft Luck is sounding more and more like a setup.

Curious how so many of you laughed when I suggested Bradford could be available. Look who's laughing now. Anyway, he's not the QB (QBs) I was told about. Unfortunate, since I kind of wish he was. Still, I suppose he's a possibility, however remote it could be. Expecting to maybe get some more info today. Not sure though, since it's the holidays

No. Not here. On another forum. One of three guys on another site that give out pretty much identical info to you at times. There are 4 guys that I know of that have insider type info and you are one of them. Probably some of the same connections.

His exact words:
A few days ago I received some information from a high up source in the organization that stated " Should Peyton Manning become available we would plan to be a player". Naturally at the time of hearing this it looked like Reg,Luck,Barkley would all be available so it was a head scratcher but as things are playing out it doesn't look so far fetched. Everyday that passes it looks like the "strongest QB class since Elway,Marino" is being diluted to Andrew Luck and guys that need time to develop. What does that mean for the Redskins who find themselves drafting in the top 10 and in need of a franchise guy ? Trade it all for Luck ? Trade it all for Bradford? In a few weeks we will know who sits in the number 1 spot come draft day and if its the colts then march is setting up to be a tell that Indy might not be able to avoid in regards to Manning/Luck. The Colts have to either pay or move on from Peyton in march with his 28 million dollar bonus due and with Luck/Peyton having the same agent it only clouds the situation more and nobody is looking for Manning to renegotiate. Archie Manning, yes the same Manning who was the architect of Eli to the giants has already came out and said he didn't feel Luck/Peyton could play together in Indianapolis. I cant see Indy with their cap situation keeping Manning and drafting Luck regardless of what/who they try to restructure and see it as a very real possibility Peyton if not traded by march is released.

Everyone knows Mike is in year two of a five year contract and cant afford to go into next season with the QB situation as is and the QB market looks slim with the like of Flynn,Smith, and Young. You bring in Peyton Manning as a Free Agent and draft a QB the team likes but needs time to develop in Ryan Tannehill. Peyton is perceived to have a good 2-3 years left in him if he is healthy from his neck injury and while its a gamble its a wise one if you draft a young QB to groom that can be had by trading back a bit in the draft. I don't think Mike plans on really hitching 4 years to Rex Grossman and what better guy to help develop a QB than Manning.

I'm still digging and trying to find out more information but considering where i heard the manning info from i have to give it validity. The other possibility is that the smoke screen has started early but usually the source isn't going to get involved in smoke screens this early so I'm taking it for what it is right now. Yes, i also laughed and stepped on this idea a few weeks ago and i am also not saying it will without a doubt happen.
I see. Well I've had heard some rumors pertaining to Peyton Manning but nothing that legitimately suggest the Redskins being all that interested. Not from what I've heard at least.

I'll just go ahead and tell you guys since it seems to be a false rumor anyway. Well not a false rumor but one that's not such a big deal, plus it's the holidays. One of the guys I was talking about was Jimmy Clausen.

I dropped the clue right in here http://www.thewarpath.net/869792-post110.html

Anyway, it was more of a "Clausen might be available this offseason for cheap, maybe even for nothing. He could be a good choice to bring in"

But from doing a bit more gathering, it seems like that would be more of a due diligence "how can you not at least consider the option, especially if it costs us nothing" move

But I'll keep the other name quiet a little longer. It would be potentially be a franchise altering move.

thanks for insight SS. Clausen would be a cheap, little risk move. Wouldnt be against it.

If you say "franchise altering" I imagine the type of QB would be an established, franchise QB. Is that right?

That insider said that it (the intel) was based off the fact that if both RGIII and Barkley stayed in school, which appears to be the case. I quoted him directly to the info he got on the Peyton thing. They bring in PM as a FA, and draft somebody like Tannehill.

Clausen? Meh.... I want to say couldn't be worse than Beck, but then realized it probably could be.
