Steelers are old and their offense isn't very good, I don't see them being a huge threat this year. Ravens are getting up there as well. Cincinnati should be good but as lotus said, they always find a way to screw it up

Re: Expectations for Griff and the 2012 Offense
Both Pittsburgh and Baltimore have been powerhouse AFC teams for the past six or seven years. I don't expect much of a drop off from either of them. The New England Patriots on the other hand are due a losing season.

I wouldn't mind seeing Jay Culter win it. I don't find him to be the douche bag everyone else does. |
Re: Expectations for Griff and the 2012 Offense
I was one of the most vocal opposers to bringing Cutler here when the rumors were alive.
My prediction is that Jason Campbell will finish the season for them. Dead serious. Early SB pick... Packers vs. Texans! |

Yes, I believe he will be our number 2 WR by the end of the season |

Re: Expectations for Griff and the 2012 Offense
Why are so many people calling for our QB to be injured? Sickos.
He's not injury-prone, why the predictions? Don't bring up his size, we've seen Drew Brees, Brett Favre, Tony Romo, Mike Vick, McNabb all play QB effectively and are shorter than Griffin. |

Especially on your own team! It's understandable to expect an injury-prone player like Vick to get hurt, but a rookie, who hasn't been injury-prone, on your OWN TEAM? We have so many pessimists here. I've suffered for 20 years too but these thoughts don't enter my mind....I just want to see the team win. |

They know that RG3 is the real deal and to prevent him from tearing up their favorite teams defenses, they would rather see him carted off the field. I'm not even going to lie. I once wished the same on Tony Romo and Tom Brady, two QBs I hate the most. |

Griffin's already had a torn ACL. Depending on how his track career went, he could be very durable, or have worn out ankles or knees like lots of runners in college do (nothing hobbling but would take it's toll on continued workout like say NFL). He's really not small, and depending on the scheme the Shannys run, it could be one of those situations where he's safer out of the pocket planned or not, lol. But Griffin's no big guy like Cam Newton or young Ben Rothlisberger shaking off tacklers either. Compared to guys like Luck, Griffin seems small. Our O-Line wasn't that good last year. I could be wrong but I think we were better run blocking than pass pro. Rex was a vet capable of hiding our OL flaws by either throwing very quickly or last second. Beck tried running, ooh boy. Griffin is a whole another league in mobility, but our line just wasn't that good IMO. If Griffin can stay healthy, we might have a special season. I'm not guaranteeing Griffin won't start all 16+ games. Just I hope our OL and the Shanahans help protect him well, because a QB that runs or is behind a poor OL is going to get hit a lot in this league. And we have at least a little of both. |
I too find it odd when people predict someone is going to get hurt.
I hope Griffin doesn't! If he catches fire, and our defense plays like last season, we might make a SB run.
It's just that the past 20 years of Redskin football have taught me not to be too optimistic. I'm hoping whatever setbacks we have this year, we make progress forward. |
Super bowl = lions vs patriots

It might be time for fans to stop being jaded and expect the worst, and instead optimistically embrace a bright new era. |

RG3 will show flashes of greatness. But expect him to struggle at the next level as a rookie. I expect him to play great at times and I expect him to make mistakes at times. Has there ever been a rookie QB to lead his NFL team to a strong post season push in recent memory? Yes, there was. Big Ben took the Pittsburgh Steelers to the AFC Championship game as a rookie. He won a Super Bowl ring the next year so it can be done. RG3 is not playing defenses like Texas, Oklahoma, and Nebraska anymore. He's going against professional NFL standard defenses now. |

It only takes one post, to drive it in another direction. Long posts tend to generate the most feedback. Write an op-ed piece. |
Re: Expectations for Griff and the 2012 Offense
Griffin is special, not because of his athletic abilities. He's daring and cerebral. It should make him successful.
|
Re: Expectations for Griff and the 2012 Offense
I like him too. I've been a Redskins fan like you no doubt since i was in diapers, and i've learned to temper my expectations constantly. So i handicap expectations so that i can communicate with those that dont understand what this team means to me and my family.

What would a successful RG3 season be to you?
So excited for tonight's game even though I won't be able to watch it.
So the title says it all what would you say is a successful season for RG3? Playoffs, nfc east title, Superbowl, stats, etc.. How ever you would define it. I think if he can throw over 20 TDs and keep the ints to about the same level or lower plus have a one or two fourth quarter comebacks by then he will prove he is capable of becoming an elite QB and thus it will be successful season for him, if not the redskins themselves as well. |
Re: What would a successful RG3 season be to you?
Superbowl victory and he crosses over to the NBA to lead the Wizards to the championship game. All else is a failure of a season.
|
Re: What would a successful RG3 season be to you?
I just want to see him get through healthy, close the season out with a winning record, and a spike upwards in his stats. Anything more than that is extra credit for me.
|
Re: What would a successful RG3 season be to you?
I would say at least 2,800 passing yards, 15-20 TD's would be respectable. Interceptions are going to be high, but hopefully he has no more than 20. 20 TD's and 20 INT's are rex-grossman like numbers, but with RG3 we could be more patient because of all his upside.
I'm so excited!! HTTR!!! |

He stays healthy and does better than Grossman.
