Re: Official Redskins First Cuts Thread
Jhavid Best isn't in the trade discussion is he? (Can't determine whether that would be a good trade or not.)
|
Re: Official Redskins First Cuts Thread
Barnes traded = huge win
Bruce is the man, hopefully more than a ham sandwich |
Re: Official Redskins First Cuts Thread
Yeah incentives I bet

I'll take the under. If we get a straight up 6th, I would be amazed. My bet is a 7th that may bump to a 5th. Either that or a reserve O-Line guy. |
Re: Official Redskins First Cuts Thread
I think he ment over a 5th as in higher lol
|
Barnes is a surprise imo, I thought he's worth the 4 spot o well
|
Re: Official Redskins First Cuts Thread
where did you get that from:
Report: Redskins release Maryland product Kevin Barnes - Washington Times
Good Riddance. The only thing I respected him for was hitting Javhid Best so hard when they were playing college ball he made the guy puke. Other than that Barnes stunk. Now watch him go have a pro-bowl caliber year like Rogers. |

Yeah that would suck. |
Re: Official Redskins First Cuts Thread
Beau Reliford...pack your stuff
|
Re: Official Redskins First Cuts Thread
TE Beau Reliford cut. I was actually kinda hoping to throw him on the PS. Good upside with alot of question marks with our TEs. Oh well.

Mike Wallace 4 picks later, Ladarius Webb 8 picks later, Deon Butler, Jerraud Powers taken 11 and 12 picks later.. Another Vinny GEM! F'n loser. |
"big" cut now confirmed....Kevin Barnes...you ain't gots to go home, but you gots to go
Per Grant Paulsen: he was released.
Grant Paulsen @granthpaulsen I just got off the phone with Kevin Barnes. The #Redskins have released the veteran CB and Maryland product.
Per John Keim traded to the Lions.
John Keim @john_keim Kevin barnes said he was traded to detroit. Just talked to him. Initially he thought he was being released. Not sure for what yet
|

There are a lot of question marks with our TEs? Really? Davis is a potential All Pro (giving him the benefit of the doubt re: weed), Paul has played well, Cooley or Paulsen gives depth. I don't think we will suffer by not being able to retain our 6th TE on the PS. |
Re: Official Redskins First Cuts Thread
Here is the whole list
Special Teams: Neil Rackers (per Adam Schefter) Offense: Antwon Bailey, RB (per Mike Jones) Lenon Creer, RB (per Grant Paulsen) Sam Kirkland, WR (per Emmanual Benton) Lance Lewis, WR (per Grant Paulsen) Nick Martinez, OL (per Chris Russell) James Lee, OT (per Grant Paulsen) Tony Moll, OL (per Boyer) Defense: Morgan Trent, CB (per steelz) Kevin Barnes, CB (per Grant Paulsen) (traded to Detroit, per John Keim... awaiting details) Monte Lewis, LB (per Emmanual Benton)
|
Re: Official Redskins First Cuts Thread
Maybe it was just part of the cuts. How many do they have to cut?

Re: Official Redskins First Cuts Thread
They should bring in Cundiff in my opinion. Just for a tryout at least
That makes no sense, why bring in a kicker now? Especially after you just cut a kicker who had a better yr last yr than Cundiff |

Re: Official Redskins First Cuts Thread
Heard we either got a late pick for Barnes, or Corey Hilliard (OT). Smoot you got anything that you can share?
|
Re: Official Redskins First Cuts Thread
I was rooting for Graham Gano to win the kicker competition. This guy has the potential to be the second coming of JAN STENERUD. He has the leg. He's been more consistent. If you think about it, Gano was really 36/41 on FG attempts last season minus the blocks which were mostly the fault of the special teams unit blocking for him.
I'm truly surprised by the release/trade of Kevin Barnes. I'm always pulling for a Maryland Terp. I hope the Redskins got decent value in exchange for Barnes. |
Re: Official Redskins First Cuts Thread
Regarding the trade of K. Barnes, I'm thinking the Skins will either pick up a CB or trade for one. We certainly need another one.

They tried to find a spot for him inside, outside, and at safety. He wasn't able to make the grade at any of those spots. There just wasn't anything else to do but let him go. I also hoped that he would make it but he just wasn't able to take advantage of the opportunities he was given. |
Re: Official Redskins First Cuts Thread
Crawford's strong play was probably a big reason Barnes is gone.

How did he play during the Colts game? I couldn't focus on him... |

Up and down... took some bad angles on tackles mostly |
Re: Official Redskins First Cuts Thread
This is just a thought. We have heard nothing about Thompson. He has played in every game after the starters were out. Never saw or heard his name called except for a missed interception. Maybe he was the guy along with Crawford that made it possible.

I see...well, I'll keep what I've heard to a select group of people (The mods should get some privileges) |
Re: Official Redskins First Cuts Thread
Smootsmack, could you also update the first thread with total number of players left on the roster? I'm not sure if we're done with moves or need to make more cuts to get to 75
