Maybe we will see more Robinson too since Zo is big on ST. I would like to see him develop and eventually take Rileys spot, then Riley taking over Fletcher. He actually looks like our most athletic ILB atm.

Well hopefully Fletcher will be able to play. Shanahan hasn't ruled Fletcher out. If he does it will be a game time decision. If it's a game time choice then I can see Fletcher playing. Maybe he starts but alternates off and on with Robinson or Alexander.

He still plays at a higher level than most LBs. He was elite before, he's still well above-average. You can't expect him to cover Jimmy Graham every time if that's what you're going by. Not many LBs can cover him.

We also have his replacement already on the roster possibly. That's exactly why we drafted Keenan Robinson. Perry Riley could be playing himself into that role too, heir to Fletcher's spot.

None of our LBs are really good cover guys, but Fletcher is awful. He is slow, and it's not just Graham.


Here is a useful stat.

Fletcher vs Giants was targeted 6 times giving up 6 completions for 48 yards.

No one is picking the skins in this one, that's OK I like the underdog role.

Amazing how many "ehhh" comments i have seen about Fletch since his injury. Lol. Not just your comment NC but many others. I mean it isnt exactly ancient history that Fletch was making plays - even in the passing game. I guess it truely is a what have you done for me lately game?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk[/quote]it is, i took some flak when i suggested that losing orakpo was not an end of the world type situation. i pointed out that he's not demarcus ware and i think that rubbed some people the wrong way. orakpo is a very good player, but i don't see him as a game-changer (yes, even before his injury).

RAK has a great name and looks like a beast. He was a number one pick and he did get held alot but ill be damned if the guy has more than one move rushing the passer. Fletch is a total over achiever that just three weeks ago was making plays in both the run and pass game that were still making me say oh my God! Now he is old slow chopped liver with many flaws. Lol.

Fletch STILL makes plays. Don't think anybody said that or implied as such. However, his diminished skills show big time on coverage and on stretch runs. Anything between the tackles is his for sure. This isn't the first time I've mentioned Fletch losing a step and being a liability in coverage. He's still the best we have currently though.

Not doubting that the ageless one has aged. If you have mentioned it before -and i believe you have- than you were the only one. I know his replacement has been / is a priority. My God though - he has gone from God to goat in a week on this board.

Not sure he's at goat status. I think you are overreacting a bit on some of the things said. I don't see anybody wanting him cut, benched, or immediately replaced. It's just those signs of age and a end of a era are about over.

Fletcher shouldn't be asked to cover much, especially on the outside, anyway. He's a tackling machine who should always be in the middle of the field, where he does ok covering because of excellent vision. But matching him up w/ a WR, TE on the outside is just bad scheming IMO.

I am more hopeful that Fletch protects himself for his future. He has been an awesome Skin, now I think it's time to take care of himself. We should have a plan in place and if we don't, then we need to struggle through it.

I watched a lot of Logan and i told people he will surprise everyone. Hes not the fastest, but hes got good hands, big, and can sit down in coverage and find open space. I expect big games from him coming up

When people criticize Shanny, this another example of how he has built the team: quality depth. Pauleson stepped in last week and had a phenomenal game. He made big plays and was a game changer.

In the past, we woulda plugged in somebody and gotten nothing from him.

Pauleson has been on the team for several years, working hard, getting limited play, but watching and learning the system. What happens when he got his shot last week? He delievered.

This is how you build a quality team period. All the Shanny hatters cant say sh*t.

I usually avoid the Hall debates, but don't you think it's all about expectations? We paid him like a top DB, but I think he's just above average, and it understandably pisses folks off.

On the other hand, when I watch replay games I notice Hall is a true ball hawk. He gets it. Smart football guy. But I think size and, in years past at least, effort kept him from achieving elite status.
