Re: Russel Wilson or Bob
Definitely RG3. Wilson is a nice player. Griffin will be a transcendent player. I'm amazed that he hasn't had a "bad" game yet. One of those games that you attribute as a rookie barfing all over himself. Luck and Wilson have had a couple of those games apiece. Griffin hasn't played like a rookie at any point this season. When we get Fred Davis back next year, and additional depth on the O-line, RG3 is going to be a top-3 QB - take that to the bank.

Exactly, Griffin has played good to great against every team this year. What has been his worst game?? |
Re: Russel Wilson or Bob
Last nights game vs. the SF 49ers is the first time I ever saw Wilson play in the NFL. I saw him play for the Badgers....he did a phenomenal job at the QB position last night. But I'd choose RG3 over him. Period.

Probably the Pittsburgh game statistically speaking, with no help from his WRs that's for sure. |

Yeah your right I looked the stats up but he also had 11 that's right 11 drops lol and one was a TD pass to hank so he actually would have had a solid game |
Re: Russel Wilson or Bob
Wilson has been simply outstanding. Both RG3 and Wilson are well deserving for ROY.

Robert Griffin III should win it. I'm not saying that because I'm a Redskins fanatic. I'm saying that because it's true. He's not only won the rookie of the week award more times this season than any rookie, he also broke last year's ROY Cam Newton's rushing record this year. Griffin is more deserving than Luck or Wilson. |
Re: Russel Wilson or Bob
Sorry, when a rookie QB leads the league in qb rating, completion percentage, has thrown the least amount of picks vs. all other starting QB's in the entire league (with 2 of those picks being ABSOLUETLY not his fault, has rushed for almost 800 yards, has a 6.6 ypc average, has thrown over 3200 yards and prolly more because of the Dallas game, thrown for 20+ TD's and rushed for 6, and has turned in a 6 (7*) game winstreak to take our team into the playoffs with a home game, and won the division, if he does not get it, it WILL be a travesty. He still has the Dallas game to really pad his stats so that there is no doubt, but still. His worst completion %age of the year was like 57.8%. That is phenomenal.
RG3 takes this one boys. With all due respect to all other QB draft classes, this draft class could be the best of all time with Luck, RG3, Wilson and Tannehill. I know its early, but I wouldnt be shocked to find out that it was in 6 or 7 years. |
Re: Russel Wilson or Bob
AGree that RG3's cost is HUGE. 3 first rounders, a couple of second rounders... Those three first rounders could have been secondary / LB -- and made us a force for the next decade. Our last 8 first rounders: RG3, Kerrigan, TWilliams, Orakpo, Landry, Campbell, Rogers, S.Taylor -- have really only missed on Campbell, maybe Landry..
Regardless, it's only fair to have this argument in 3-5 years, when we can see if Wilson / RG3 fade with tape review. As we've seen with Cam Newton, a great rookie year can fade when everyone else figures you out. Not to mention if you thought running the zone read with a 6 foot 2 QB is dangerous, Seattle is just starting to run it with a 5'11" 206lb QB. All it takes is one hit from Rams Robert Quinn next week for Flynn to be IN. Of the two, I still think RG3 is a better long-term bet. |

Re: Russel Wilson or Bob
The way the NFL is though, I see Wilson getting voted as ROY only because he's currently on fire, and we seem to see the NFL talking heads focus entirely on what's currently hot, not always the body of work. I feel in regards to stats, RG3 wins hands down, but certainly it might have to do with how well these guys do in the playoffs (and yes, I'm assuming the Redskins beat the Cowboys and make it in.)

Re: Russel Wilson or Bob
I think RG3 should win it and yes probably because I am a Skins fan. If you look at the overall quality of work RG3 has played like a professional all season, while Luck and Wilson have both performed at times like rookies, in particular Luck lately. His consistent proficiency as QB sets him a part. I think the biggest knock to RG3 could be the big season AlMo is having.

I wouldn't doubt it either. He's won some big games this year against very good teams and on the road.
Put RG3 on the Seahawks and that's a Superbowl team
I agree with this. |
Re: Russel Wilson or Bob
As exciting and promising a start as Indianapolis quarterback Andrew Luck has made, this award comes down to a battle between two players who haven't just reinvigorated their teams but have done so in a way that is directly attributable to the consistent excellence of their play. Luck has won some close encounters, but some have been due to his poor play to get the Colts into that position. Luck has had some terrific fourth quarters, but his overall play has been a roller-coaster ride. To me, this award is so closely balanced between Washington quarterback Robert Griffin III and Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson. How can we split these two outstanding players? I'll attempt to by going over key factors that determine a player's and team's success.
Supporting Cast: On the offensive line, Washington has an edge. This has been an area of strength for the Redskins, with only Tyler Polumbus at right tackle providing a significant weakness for defenses to target. Left tackle Trent Williams' Pro Bowl place was well-deserved, and center Will Montgomery was unlucky to miss out. In Russell Okung and Max Unger, the Seahawks have players performing equally well at identical positions (LT and C) but the rest of the line has been far more fluid. While the play of Alfred Morris and Marshawn Lynch means support at running back is somewhat of a wash, pass-catcher injuries to Fred Davis and Pierre Garcon left huge holes and RGIII had to compensate, finding unexpected help when needed from players like Aldrick Robinson and Logan Paulsen. The Seattle receivers have rounded into a sure-handed group; the drop rate of both Golden Tate and Sidney Rice puts them in the top 15 in the league. Edge: RGIII -- his rotating receiving options means he's had the biggest problems and puts him slightly ahead here. Consistency: Throughout the year Griffin is the only quarterback ProFootballFocus has not graded negatively in a single game; he has been the model of stability from his very first game against the Saints. He's never thrown more than one interception in a game (and only five total) and even in his worst performance (at the Steelers) never looked completely out of whack. In contrast, Wilson started shakily but has improved almost week by week. Eight of his 10 interceptions came in the first half of the season, and his Week 16 performance was his best, clinically dissecting the 49ers defense, one of the NFL's top two. Edge: RGIII. Offensive Tailoring: From the very first series of Week 1 against New Orleans it was obvious that the Redskins had reconstructed their entire offense to fit the skills of their new passer. Griffin managed initially easy throws interspersed with read-option runs, then deeper play-action passes as the defenses bit up on the short stuff. Credit to Griffin for making the whole thing work superbly. But Wilson is displaying a much fuller repertoire. Wilson is throwing deep (20 yards plus) the fourth-most in the league, with Griffin the second-least, and Griffin has thrown twice as many screens as his counterpart. Wilson's passing "grid" is significantly more balanced, and he utilizes the deep ball and throws outside the numbers far more often. Edge: Wilson -- He is making every throw, even the difficult ones, with a high degree of efficiency. Injury Concerns: We all know Griffin has missed playing time, so maybe this is a slam dunk, but that would miss the point of just how good Wilson is when it comes to scrambling without taking undue risks. There's no doubt both players are equally fearless, but when Wilson scrambles he rarely takes big hits; he's incredibly elusive and has already avoided eight tackles on 45 scrambles compared to Griffin's three on 41. As a result he's also fumbled five fewer times than RGIII. Edge: Wilson. In summary: Very tough call. After Week 15, PFF had Griffin just ahead and in our Pro Bowl squad too. After last week, Wilson just squeaked ahead of his rival. When pushed, my choice would be Wilson because I believe he has been less a product of the system and hence more difficult to take away. Regardless, I don't think there is a wrong answer between the two. What a setup for this weekend's wildcard game. Still want to bask in the NFCE championship, but the matchup should be excellent all around.

Re: Russel Wilson or Bob
I think ROY might come down next week to whoever advances their team.
|
Re: Russel Wilson or Bob
Should this games winner be ROY? What if RG3 throws 3 TDs 1 pick and we lose and Russell throws 1 td and 3 picks and he wins? The debate will continue. Gotta give it to RG3 though. I think if Flynn plays for seattle that team still makes the playoffs; Great defense.

Re: Russel Wilson or Bob
Pretty sure ROY is a regular season award that will already be voted on before the playoffs start.

yep votes are due in by Wednesday according to sirius. |
Re: Russel Wilson or Bob
Well, I think RG3 should win it.
But I think one of the other 2 (probably Luck) will win it. No football reason at all just a pure hunch. |
I think RGIII/Wilson/Morris are the only three truly deserving of ROY. However, I'm sure Luck will get enough votes to make it very interesting & we all know Morris isn't going to get the votes.
I'd call Griffin & Wilson in a dead heat at the moment. I'd have no problems if either of them won ROY but if Luck gets it I'll question the award as much as the presidential election. |

Remember 4 rookie receivers, I've seen many balls bounce off their hands for INT's and yes he is also to blame for 2/3 of them, still 11-5 after 2-14 with 7 come from behind victories, give the man credit. |

dude, let it go. geez |
Come from behind victories matter why? Cut down on mistakes and there isn't a need to come from behind.
We won 5 games last year. If we played the Colts last year would you be confident we would've beat them? I'm not. Base the award off of the best stats not what the teams record was the year before. Teams talent levels are always under/overestimated each year. This is why we have a worst to first scenario almost every year. The award shouldn't be based upon what if's but on which player statistically had a better year. The colts and skins were not picked to make the playoffs but both did. So, both qb's led their team where experts thought they couldn't. Strictly #'s wise who had the better season? Pretty simple answer for me if we aren't concerned with what experts told us a team should have done this year. |

No one is saying Luck sucks. We are saying he isn't the best rookie QB. Are you? He is in the conversation for ROY - unlike a Weeden, Tannehill, T.Richardson or D. Martin (or Morris for that matter). We get it. You love Luck. Great. From what I have seen, he has made some top flight throws and also some pretty f'ing crappy ones. I won't pretend to know the Colts offense or personnel, but I am pretty sure that, for the entire season, Luck has had his number 1 receiving option (who happens to be a pro-bowl and possible HOF'er) and, over the course of the season, Hilton has developed into a legitimate deep threat. (BTW - I have watched Luck and not just the highlights, but games). Luck is very good. Griffin and Wilson have been stellar. Griffin from game one, Wilson as he developed down the stretch and, b/c he has done it from game one, Griff gets the nod in my book. |
Re: Russel Wilson or Bob
I love RGIII as much anyone, he is our QB and is fantastic x1000. All I'm saying is that Luck and Wilson might not compare in athleticism, because that's were RGIII beats them hands down. All 3 are smart, tough and class acts.

Yes. All three are and I don't think anyone would dispute that. However, only one can be ROY. Right now, acknowledging Luck's good points, the discussion is between RGIII and Wilson. One of them is going to get it, Luck will likely finish third in the voting. |
Re: Russel Wilson or Bob
Been watching some NFL Network and ESPN (trying to sober up before bed) and seems like the consensus is Wilson over RG for the playoff game, but this is an example of why I dislike analysts/commentators. When you actually listen to what they're saying, it's really Seattle over Washington i.e. Seattle has a significantly better defense and marginally better offense. They try to bring it down to personalities, which is pretty nonsensical unless the debate is PC vs MS.
