Yup. That was his rookie Heisman moment.

So then, RGIII is better than Andrew Luck?
Thats a given now?

Maybe ask that question in 15 years.

No. Luck is just as good

Luck RG3 debate will be going on for years. Luck didn't do as well in his rookie season (way too many INTS to the 5 Robert had). They're also 2 different kinds of QBs.

Look at the stats. Right now he's not and its not even close.
Look at the stats. Right now he's not and its not even close.
I agree but luck had less help around him than griff did. Other than Reggie Wayne who else did he have? He was asked to do much more than Robert in the passing game. I think both will be neck and neck for years to come.

CRedskinsRule 02-03-2013 12:34 PM

I just don't get it. Luck lost to Griffin in the Heismann race, he lost substantially in the ROY race, Griffins stat in passer rating, completion percent, total qbr (which I haven't really bought into yet), TD-INT Ratio, total ints not only beat Lucks, but mostly demolish them. if you dont think Griffin is the better player, right now and the past two years, what would you have to see to change your mind? (serious question)

Luck makes some amazing plays, but his body of work is what it is. And right now its not better than Griffins.

REDSKINS4ever 02-03-2013 12:34 PM

Re: NFL Awards Show (RGIII is offensive ROY)

One of the things that went against Luck winning the award was his 18 INTs. Griffin III had only 5. RG3 also plays in a much more tougher division than Luck....and take into consideration all of the rookie records that Robert broke. He deserved the R.O.Y. award.

Luck had plenty of "help".

Avery had 60 catches, Hilton had 50 as a rookie, Allen and Fleener combined for 71 catches at the TE spot. In the running game Ballard and Brown combined for over 1200 yards.

Luck didn't have to deal with losing his top WR & TE for half the season either.

I'm not a Luck over RG3 guy at all. I'm just saying he's not some scrub. I think he made those guys better as did RG3 with Afl and Paulsen ETC.

Re: NFL Awards Show (RGIII is offensive ROY)

The whole Luck did not have any help is not true at all. Wayne with 100 plus catches, playing the best year of his career, TY Hilton almost had a thousand yards, Avery had 60 catches, the tight ends were both a lot better than Logan Paulsen.

Plus if you have more interceptions than the number of games you played obviously you needed help to win the game.

anyone have video of his acceptance speech?

Re: NFL Awards Show (RGIII is offensive ROY)

The speech wasnt his finest media work. Probably still a little looped up on pain management stuff. Someone else mentioned it. Believe it or not he looked a little nervous.

Re: NFL Awards Show (RGIII is offensive ROY)

I just saw the video on redskins.com with him and Larry Michael... Didn't seem nervous really...

I don't have the links of the RGIII acceptance speech, but its on YouTube now. I actually recorded the whole NFL Honors show. It was like an Academy Awards show for the NFL and you can find RGIII speech, but the funniest and best parts of the whole show are Alex Baldwin's 10 min opening and AP accepting the Fantasy palyer of the year award, which seems very tongue in cheek to me.

Well what I am seeing is that his rehab is already ahead of schedule and he's doing well. Walking without a limp, going up and down stairs, etc is pretty remarkable considering he had his knee reconstructed 3 weeks ago.

...yeah but he did lose his coach for most of it.

Did you notice in Arians' COY award that he specifically mentioned Reggie Wayne, not Andrew Luck? I really thought that was interesting.

I think Arians had as much, if not way more, at keeping that team together and getting them back into games.

I actually think that may have helped a little bit. The extra emotional charge it gave the team.

Let's not downplay anything about any of these teams. All three made the playoffs. All three Qbs had help. Hell we were the only one of the three to win the division also.

Medical technology has advanced so much just over the past three years, it's anyone's guess when he'll be back. But he sure as hell sounds confident about day one.

I know we have only mention the big 3,Wilson, RGIII and Luck but lets not forget this guy...Colin Kaepernick,YES I know it's his second year but he might as well be a rookie.

umm he can't be rookie of the year, if he's not a rookie, So I wouldn't think he would come up in this context.

As I said I realise he's not a rookie but in the context of a first year starting QB all 4 did a great job.

This is the second time you've brought RGIII's father (RGII) into a discussion on this board. C'mon get with it already -- and who in blazes is Wislon?

And yes this thread is about Rookie of the Year, not quasi, not alternate, not kind-a-like...
