Asomugha sucks unless his is in a perfect scheme fit (Oakland) because if he's not (Philadelphia) he is exposed.

Nnamdi was great in Oakland, he played man coverage and was an all pro. That team sucked when he was there so that's not a good argument.

Asomugha is too soft. He was an embarassment last year!!!! Hall has courage, and that is the essential ingredient that Asomugha does not display. I would rather have a fighting Hall cussing every reciever out that scores on him than an Asomugha turtle slinking into his shell shrugging his shoulder as receivers run into the end zone.

Nothing, unless you assume that Nnamdi wanted to come here and we said no.

How is that a bad argument? He played in a man coverage defense, which he excels at. Just because the team was horrible doesn't mean he couldn't keep the ball away from his man. When he got to Philly and wasn't playing the man style defense anymore his play dropped off significantly. Philly has been bad as well in recent seasons. Seems like my argument is perfectly valid.

Re: D.Hall is back!

Fans always think its about the money with players. Nnamdi is a Cal guy, Bay area born and raised. SF is the only team in the area that he would be able to play for something and be home. 49ers don't necessarily need him and he wants to win. The team holds all the cards. Not to mention he will get 4 million from the Eagles this year regardless doesn't hurt.

OK I thought u were basically saying he was a bumb in Oakland also.. I saw online that winfield wants to play in Washington!!

skinsfaninok 04-03-2013 08:04 AM

The Washington Redskins remain interested in signing veteran cornerback Antoine Winfield despite bringing back DeAngelo Hall at a reduced salary, a person with knowledge of the situation said. Two others, however, questioned whether the salary cap-strapped Redskins had a realistic shot at landing Winfield.

"There is high mutual interest," said one person, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because he wasn't authorized to speak on behalf of the Redskins. "Re-signing Hall didn't change that."

The re-signing of Hall —who, after being released in March to save $8 million, on Monday agreed to a one-year deal that is believed to be worth just more than $2 million —didn't come as a surprise to Winfield and his camp. The person said that if anything, the move made Washington more attractive to Winfield, who is entering his 15th NFL season.

"At this point in his career, [Winfield] wants to win, and [Washington] has made moves to further solidify the roster, and re-signing Hall only helps. Their games complement each other," the source said.

The Redskins have Hall and Josh Wilson returning for a third straight season.

Agree. Asomugha might be done. I think the zero interest he got in FA says it all. Kinda like Hall.

Lets say we create cap room and sign Winfield.
Whats wrong with Winfield and Hall battling for a #1 corner spot and cutting the loser?

I'd like to keep both. Wilson would be a solid 3

Nothing that I can see.

With the way Asomugha has played of late I'll take Hall.
Hall is worth something... and I've softened my stance on him a little. But he isn't worth what we were going to have to pay him by any fantastical stretch of the imagination. Now I assume he's somewhat of a bargain for us.
My thoughts too

Nfldraftscout rated its top 100 CBs

61 Biggers
59 DHall
51 Josh Wilson
43 C. Griffin
6 Winfield (if he chooses to sign with us)

Regardless of who plays in the defensive backfield this year, there will be a lot of interceptions. Every guy the Redskins have now and haven't drafted yet will be able to cover.

I would be curious to see a breakdown of this into the first and second halves of the season. DHall was pretty bad in the first half, but in the second half -- during the 7 game stretch -- he was pretty solid, and had a terrific game against Dez Bryant in the finale.

I somewhat have the sense that he was out of synch because of poor safety play but ultimately settled into better fundamentals as the season progressed. Not that good play the second half of the season is a guarantee of anything for next season, but he knows the system, it's hard to imagine we will be worse in the secondary with at least a few guys coming back from injuries and hopefully Crawford stepping up, and with more of a pass rush (thank you 'Rak). I am not at all unhappy about DHall coming back. And it also seemed clear he wanted to remain with the Skins (not that he had lots of suitors, but I do think he genuinely wants to be in DC). I think our D will be improved from last season (not a terriblly hard thing to do) even if we do nothing but get healthier. My view is we need more safety help than anything else at this point, although I would put RT and a change-of-pace RB right behind.

Re: D.Hall is back!

The Nnamdi-in-Philly saga is a lot more complicated than "the Eagles made him play something he's bad at." I mean, in a four game stretch in 2011 when the world believed he was superman, yeah, a bad scheme was one of their many downfalls. 2012 was a lot more complication because they tried to fit the scheme to what he does, and they also fired their defensive coordinator early in the year (he then got worse).

I have a really bad read on how Nnamdi will do in San Francisco because of the volatility in his performance the last two years (although I'm not optimistic), but Hall on the other hand is such a freakin easy evaluation because he's been the same exact player since he signed his extension here, year in and year out.
