Re: Post Your Redskins Mock Draft Here
They want to give RG3 more weapons
They feel the DB/S class is actually quite deep with the gap not being that huge between the 4th best and the 14th best They know they have no true slot receiver outside of the 34-year-old Santana Moss Evan Royster is the current back-up to Morris and he's gone from likely starter to a foot and a half out the door in less than a year And I think they're not being totally truthful about Helu's status I mean maybe they'll go DB in the 2nd and WR/RB in the 3rd, but I don't think they're going to go defense/defense off the top
Thank God. I never thought he was anything special. Not a fast, cutting back (Helu) or a bruiser (Morris) so what did that leave him as? I dunno what you all (or the coaches) think his ceiling is, but he seemed pretty average. |
Re: Post Your Redskins Mock Draft Here
Justin Hunter reminds me of a Julio Jones who isnt as strong.

Re: Post Your Redskins Mock Draft Here
Hey, all. I'm new here. Here are a couple likely scenarios that would be perfect for us.
2nd: FS - Phillip Thomas - Fresno State 3rd: CB - Robert Alford - Southeastern Louisiana 4th: SS - Duke Williams - Nevada 5th: WR - Chris Harper - Kansas State 5th: OT/OG - Tanner Hawkinson - Kansas 6th: FS - Ray Ray Armstrong - Miami 7th: WR - Jasper Collins - Mount Union 2nd: FS/SS - DJ Swearinger - South Carolina 3rd: CB - Robert Alford - Southeastern Louisiana 4th: SS - Duke Williams - Nevada 5th: OT/OG - Tanner Hawkinson - Kansas 5th: FS - Dominick Reyes - Stony Brook 6th: FS - Ray Ray Armstrong - Miami 7th: WR - Jasper Collins - Mount Union I have faith in Helu returning healthy to back up Alfred. I also think Keenan will step up and be set to start. If he's not, we can draft a LB next year. I think we'll be set at CB this year. Keep in mind, we'll have a lot more money to spend in free agency next year. |

Thanks. As we all know, Merriweather might get re-injured again. My second mock was a back-up plan. It would allow us to have GREAT depth behind Merriweather as well as starters for years to come. I like Dejon and Doughty, but they are just role players. What if we could get starting-caliber role players? Duke Williams is a guy that will be a great pro. Reyes is very intriguing, because he's 6'4" and was used mostly covering the slot receiver and in run coverage. He's a great tackler. I can only imagine a Phillip Thomas & Duke Williams/Dom Reyes safety duo. |
Re: Post Your Redskins Mock Draft Here
I honestly don't see Ray Ray Armstrong being drafted. And if Robert Alford falls to the backend of the third where we pick I would be floored.
Redskins have 2 things against them in this draft, no first round pick and we pick in the later half of each round. Here is an option i would consider.... 2nd: David Amerson CB 2nd (Trade back into the 2nd): DJ Swearinger S 3rd: Used to trade up 4th: Josh Boyce WR or Denard Robinson WR 5th: Chris Faulk OT 5th: Used to trade up 6th: Onterio McCalebb RB 7th: Used to trade up |
Re: Post Your Redskins Mock Draft Here
We are trading back in the 2nd and picking up an additional 3rd
2. Jonathan Banks, CB 3. Andre Ellington, RB 3. Phillip Thomas, FS 4. Dave Bakhtiari, OT 5. Brandon McGee, CB 5. Josh Boyce, WR 6. Matt Fustenburg, TE 7. Chico, Waterboy Dream draft, hopefully what we could pull off. That dude may be gone already by the seventh |

They do seem to fall in love with a school and draft multiple players from one team.

Me too but after he does it one more year. I know he will but still |
Re: Post Your Redskins Mock Draft Here
With the 51st pick of the 2013 NFL Draft, the Redskins select...
Darius Slay CB, Mississippi State Rd3 85 Justin Pugh OT, Syracuse Rd4 119 Duke Williams S, Nevada Rd5 154 ILB Rd5 162 TE/WR Rd6 191 RB Rd7 228 DB My thought process is that a few players should slip a little bit because they're not a good fit for preceeding teams (scheme) and therefore may benefit the Skins. I'm hopeful a prospect like Slay is still on the board in the 2nd because what I read in USA Today's NFL Draft Preview (I needed a reference for a Big Board) Slay's defense at Miss State was seriously lacking a pass rush and he still fared well with teams throwing away from top-corner counterpart Johnathan Banks. I also hope Pugh falls into our lap at 85th overall as other teams may see him as a ZBS OT. Duke Williams is probably a slight reach but I think the Skins like his leadership and they've shown to value captains. The positions I listed simply reflect needs that I think the team will try to address. Maybe a poor man's Santana Moss and Fred Davis (Shanahan trying to convert another WR to a TE type of player) clone can be found in the late rounds. Running backs? Need I say more? Maybe a promising small school DB who makes the PS. |
Re: Post Your Redskins Mock Draft Here
Coming around more on DJ Hayden.
2nd: DJ Hayden 3rd: Andre Ellington 4th: Duke Williams 5th: Josh Boyce 5th: Xavier Nixon 6th: Terry Hawthorne 7th: Ray Ray Armstrong |

Still want him but if we take Hayden, I dont think we take him. Plus, according to SS we want a playmaker on offense. Insert Ellington/Bernard goodbye Mathieu in that mock. |

Re: Post Your Redskins Mock Draft Here
Assuming we trade down in the 2nd to the later 2nd and add a 4th and 7th my mock would be as follows.
2. Darius Slay CB 3. Brian Schwenke C 4. TJ McDonald FS 4. Keith Pough ILB 5. Devin Taylor DE 5. Reid Fragel OT. 6. Josh Boyce WR 7. Cooper Taylor S 7. Miguel Maysonet RB |

Re: Post Your Redskins Mock Draft Here
A lot of folks not mocking a TE. I think it could be a pretty likely area where the FO looks. You got Fred "Philly blunt" Davis (1 year deal, suspension risk, major injury), you got Logan "Lumberjack" Paulsen (solid backup, under contract) and Niles "Cant Catch" Paul (drops, free agent after 2014) on the depth chart. Wouldnt be surprised if we grabbed one after the 3rd round.

Fauria and Kelce could be had in the 5th. |

Re: Post Your Redskins Mock Draft Here
If we don't take him in the 2nd he will.be gone.
I feel he goes between 45-85 so if we stay where we are we might have 2 shots at him. I would take him but that is just me, if you feel he is your guy forget where he is projected to go. Remember last year there were some people here who didn't wanna give up what we gave up to get RGIII, preferably wanted to stay where we were and get a QB to groom in round 2. So we will see come Friday. I will not be mad if our 51st pick is Tyrann at all, because I feel we will draft Duke Williams in the 3rd or 4th round regardless and Swearinger and Thomas will be ther ein the 3rd I think. |
Re: Post Your Redskins Mock Draft Here
2nd: Jamar Taylor CB, Boise State - Dude is a stud, I was thinking Offense here but I think the team realizes how bad our Secondary is.
3rd: Ty Mathieu- Steal of the draft IMO, He has/had a Weed problem but so did TW and FD and we all love both of those guys. Ty is the best playmaker in the draft on Defense. 4th: Xavier Nixon, RT, Florida- Solid Tackle that will get better as he gets older. 5th: Kenny Stills WR- Oklahoma 5th: AJ Klein ILB, Iowa State 6th: Ray Ray Armstrong, S, Miami 7th: Theo Riddick RB/WR, Notre Dame |

Re: Post Your Redskins Mock Draft Here
Now for my One and only NFL Mock draft lol
1. K.C - Luke Joeckel- EASY decision here for KC. 2. JAX- Jarvis Jones - I was thinking Geno here but I think JAX will give BG one more year to see if he can make something happen. 3. OAK- Star Lotulelei- Another No brainier if u ask me, Oakland has a horrific Defense . 4. PHI- Geno Smith - Something just tells me they will make a huge gamble to try and stay up with the NFCE, Vick is old and always hurt and we saw last year how good Nick Foles looked.... 5. DET- Dee Milliner- Lions need a CB and he's a Day 1 Starter by far on that roster. 6. CLEVELAND- Cordarrelle Patterson- WR Give Weeden and or JC someone to throw to. 7. ARZ- Lane Johnson OT- He was very good at OU and the cards are horrific on the OLINE. 8. BUFFALO- Tavon Austin WR - Bills need firepower to keep up with N.E and now Miami. 9. NYJ- Justin Hunter WR - Jets need WRS in a bad way. 10. TENN- Chance Warmack OL - Give Locker some more protection 11. SD- Eric Fisher OT - Same as tenn, the Chargers OL sucks 12. MIAMI- Kenny Vaccaro S 13. TRADE - Bucs get Revis Jets select Desmond Trufant. CB 14. CAROLINA- Alec Ogletree OLB 15. N.O- Barkevious Mingo LB 16. STL- Deandre Hopkins WR 17. PITT- DJ Fluker OT 18. Dallas - John Cooper OL 19. NYG - Sharriff Floyd DT 20. CHI - Tyler Eifert TE 21. HOU - Matt Barkley QB 28. DEN - X Rhodes CB 29. NE - Dion Jordan OLB/DE 30. ATL -Arthur Brown OLB 31. SF - Barrett Jones C 32. BAL- Keenan Allen WR |

Why bother with a (first round) mock and not take it to the 51st pick overall?

Honey Badger will be a Redskin

Re: Post Your Redskins Mock Draft Here
Honey Badger will be a Redskin
I'm starting to get that vibe too, judging by the redskin insiders on twitter. HTTR24/7 made a point I've thought about before. Haslett loves to blitz from the NB position. What is Tyrann great at? Blitzing from the NB position. Add in the fact that Raheem supposedly loves mathieu, I can see us taking him in the 3rd, should New England not take him in the latter part of round 2. |
Re: Post Your Redskins Mock Draft Here
I wouldn't hate it, but I don't see it happening
|
Re: Post Your Redskins Mock Draft Here
i'm realizing this draft is more exciting than last year's; we all knew what was happening in the 1st and then our next pick was in the 3rd.
i feel good about the 5th we got from haynesworthless. too bad mcnabb (7th) and barnes (6th? or 7th?) didn't meet their requirements to net us any picks. oh well |

I personally want Swearinger @ 51 if he is there but I have a weird feeling we are going to go for a playmaker on offense @51 and safety later.
