^^^Fair assessment on KS. Actually, hadn't thought of it, but like the author points out, if we win the Seattle game, he might have been offered a HC job. I think one reason that our offense will be feared this year, is because of "CONSISTENCY". Every primary starter on offense will be on the same page and that is a huge plus in this day and age of the everchanging world we live in!

Very good article. I really hope our 3rd down conversion improves, we could have one a lot more games last season if this stat had been better.

I think whoever wrote this has a lot of faith in Niles Paul. I know last year was his first year as TE, but he needs to catch the damn ball period.

I don't remember hearing (before this article) that Kyle had the authority to pull RG in the Seattle game, anyone? It was all on Mike from media reports I remember, but if Mike took all the blame publicly to protect Kyle that's understandable.

Lots of other assumptions in the article too. Moss was open a lot...because he's our best WR overall hands down. He runs the best routes and is far superior to Garcon for instance at creating separation. But I doubt RG just never made it to Moss in his reads. There was more to the story.

And predicting a breakout for Niles Paul aside from bad acne is a huge leap of faith.

And the assumption Polumbus starts...hopefully false lol. I can't believe he's still on the roster after watching him whiff on so many blocks or just get man-handled by any Turd Ferguson that goes hard.

But those are really the only negatives. I really think there's huge potential if we put it all together and maximize our resources.

From what I know, if Kyle had that authority he would have been pulled. He may not have even played against Dallas

Sure. If he won against SEA with Cousins he would be a HC somewhere else and maybe Cousins would be his QB in a package deal. Lol.

I'm doing my Mr. Burns "excellent" impression every time I'm seeing pats fans mention Jordan Reed on twitter. So many fans saying "we should have drafted Jordan reed! He plays just like Aaron!"

Yes and as redskins fans lets hope Jordan is completely different from Aaron off the field.

Helu had some kind of procedure done. Never heard of "dry-needling" before.

Acupuncture?

Roy Helu - Washington Redskins - 2013 Player Profile - Rotoworld.com
Helu Jr. attributed his series of leg injuries in the NFL to tight muscles in his lower body.

Following a regimen known as dry needling, he was able to release some of the tension known as trigger points, which in turn relaxed and strengthened his muscles.

“I’ve seen great results from that,” he said. “I still have time to recover over these next few weeks. I still need more motion in the toe, but to be out there doing my job is fun.”

During OTAs and minicamp, Helu Jr. practiced with teammates for the first time since September and said that he felt physically and psychologically refreshed.

“I feel good. I feel I’ve gotten to the point that I can compete at a high level, and I’m thankful for that,” he said. “I’m out there running a lot of plays without pain. I guess that’s the best measurement.”

He also credited faith and family for helping him find perspective during the rehab process.
I'm kind of against having a guy used just for Kickoffs. I feel like that could be where another RB or WR or CB or LB could come in handy instead of John Potter, the kick off specialist.

2012 NFL Kickoff Statistics - The Football Database

Kai, although he played in 11 games, he had 62 kickoffs last year. 45 of those were returned for 1,048 yards. That ranks 14th in the NFL. This John Potter guy had 26 Kickoffs last year, 11 of those were returned for 263 yards. Thats an average of 23.9 yards/return. Kai's average is 23.3 yards per return. In terms of kickoffs being touchbacks. 42% of Potters kicks were returned. 72.5% of Forbaths kicks were returned.

Although I see the difference, I like having kicks returned, it gives our ST's more opportunities to get fumbles and holding calls, as well as getting the returner to run it out, something which doesn't happen as often since the kickoff line has moved.

I agree completely. Oddly enough, in years past it wouldnt have mattered since we didnt have enough talent to worry about it. But I would much rather that spot go to a player. We have enough younger players that that spot makes a difference and could lose a young player who goes on the PS over being on the team.

I have also read where Kai is working on his kickoffs. The article is a few months old by now, but it looked like he was getting at least a little more distance on his kickoffs. Kai said in the article that it is less about leg strength and more about making the right contact with the ball (Making it sound similar to golf. Ball contact makes all the difference in the world in golf)

Hey, if Kai continues to average 1 missed FG per year, don't make him change anything...get a KO specialist and let Kai score the points.

Re: Redskins News & Notes Chapter 6

Kicking a FG and kicking a kickoff are quite different. Working on one shouldnt affect the other. A FG is a 2 or 3 step approach and kicking the ball off the ground while it is being held. A kickoff is a 5-10 yard approach and kicking the ball off of a tee.

Even if he cant reach the end zone, I would rather deal with kickoff returns than use 3 spots on the 53 man roster for kickers.

He is not a real American Indian as that does not include Alaska and Hawaii. The only way someone can be classified as an American Indian is to be in the continental 48 states. In Alaska they were called Eskimo's, until Eskimo became a derogatory term.

Side note: How many people knew Eskimo is supposed to be considered racist?

The Inuits and Aleuts (full blooded or not) are not considered American Indians, nor is any other indigenous people of Alaska or Hawaii.
