Re: We won!!!!!!!!!! (Redskins vs. Raiders Post Game Thread)
I think its coaching and lack of it with Kyle. RG3 is coming off injury and I guess the O is in transition if thats what we are going to call it, but we gotta be better prepared to play in the first half. Kyle needs to have the offense ready to go.
We cant 3 and out, 3-4 times in the first half with our defense, its killing the team. Our Oline isnt playing as well last year imo. They get stronger as the game goes on it seems, but we need earlier results from this unit. |
Re: We won!!!!!!!!!! (Redskins vs. Raiders Post Game Thread)
o no doubt Defense is still much worse

Dallas is turd meat next week, and gints play the birds. No matter who wins that game we can be tied in the win column in the division if we beat dallas. Glad we won and the season is young. Didnt get to watch the game, but i hope Griff makes some huuuuge strides by the dallas game and that Almo is ready to go too.
RGIII is still recovering. It's simply going to take more time until he is his old self, physically.
Also, he's learning how to play QB in the NFL. There is a lot of learning that can only happen in games, over time. When he makes a "rookie" mistake, it is an opportunity for him to learn from it. When he is fully recovered from his injury and has gained more experience, I think RGIII will become a great QB.
Well RGIII says he is 100% so how long can we use that excuse. Personally I have come to the conclusion RGIII is just not a pocket QB. He likes to be moving and seems to throw the ball much better when he is moving even if he is just rolling out. |
Re: We won!!!!!!!!!! (Redskins vs. Raiders Post Game Thread)
Because honestly we don't have much talent on O, Morris and Griff and Garcon.. thats it
Completely disagree. We have better wr's, TE's and running backs than New England put on the field last night. |

You can use the "excuse" probably through the end of next month easily. He is a 2nd year qb who didn't have the benefit of an offseason and who is used to getting by on his exceptional speed, and now is finding limits in that. Not that he can't be a pocket passer. I have seen several drop back passes of his that were perfect, but frankly our line is not designed for a drop back pass style, and he is still working out the kinks and rust (regardless of what he says) in his running. I think we have seen a bit of progression in his game every week, and after the bye, he will be past the 9 month mark, which is medically significant in the healing process. I don't think it's fair to say he's not a pocket passer, but when he can move easily, the whole offense works better. |
Re: We won!!!!!!!!!! (Redskins vs. Raiders Post Game Thread)
^again we do not have Tom Brady though. U have to understand that Brady and Manning make anyone look great, they are ELITE QB's. Griffin is not yet
|
Re: We won!!!!!!!!!! (Redskins vs. Raiders Post Game Thread)
RG3 needs a full off season to work on his craft. As we can see, he not only needed pre season, he needed OTA's and the mini camps. Time will tell if he can become a pocket guy, but I think we all know he has the work ethic and the drive. Time will tell, but in the meantime, I hold on to Kurt Cousins.

The defense is bad, yet it keeps us in games. I dunno. It's like they can't decide if they want to be absolutely deadass horrible or if they want to be inconsistent but lucky. |

Too early to say that. Steve Young was a running QB and he made the change to become a HOF QB. RG3 needs to work on it and he will. |
Re: We won!!!!!!!!!! (Redskins vs. Raiders Post Game Thread)
^I don't I trade him for a high 2nd or late 1st and build around RG3, He's not going anywhere guys and he has changed his style to not get injured.

Re: We won!!!!!!!!!! (Redskins vs. Raiders Post Game Thread)
What happens next year when the brace is off, bananas.
2nd year QB, still learning, recovering from a bad injury. He is pretty good when you take that into account. The offensive line doesn't look as good, when he is 10% slower, or whatever he is. The receivers didn't seperate well yesterday as a group. He missed some throws, made some bad throws. He is doing something Kaepernick doesn't, move through his receiver progresson. Years down the road, the injury may end up being a blessing in disguise. What if he had to deal with this 5 years from now. |

The debbie downer part of me wants to point out that the defense seems ok when the 1st string players (Bush, Pryor, McFadden) go down, but does anyone else think Pryor or McFadden all game makes that game go much differently. I do think getting Jackson and Jenkins back will make a big difference. I just think the dline's tackling will be improved off the bye. |
Re: We won!!!!!!!!!! (Redskins vs. Raiders Post Game Thread)
Is Griffin reading through his progressions or not? I certainly don't know, and it seems like half the people that might know, say he is, and half say he isn't.

McFadden was breaking off big gainers until he went down with the injury and because Pryor wasn't playing, they didn't have the RO at their disposal. With our tackling issues, they would've ran all over us. |
Re: We won!!!!!!!!!! (Redskins vs. Raiders Post Game Thread)
The one thing I've noticed that is killing the defense, when a everyone is sent to rush the passer, the middle is wide open with no one around to protect a screen pass and big plays occur against the skins
Not buying the talent excuse. Look at what Brady is operating with in NE.
Brady is operating with one of the best pass blocking OLs in the game. The guy isn't touched back there and this allows him to pick teams apart. Our OL isn't even remotely close to theirs. I agree with you about the skills players though. |
Re: We won!!!!!!!!!! (Redskins vs. Raiders Post Game Thread)
So he is going to wear the brace all season or has that been determind.

I think Griffin said during one of his training camp pressers that he would wear the brace all season, but might take it off next year. I wonder if that is not a Dr. Andrews decison, that Griffin just didn't want to put on Dr. Andrews. |
Re: We won!!!!!!!!!! (Redskins vs. Raiders Post Game Thread)
Smart to think longterm with his knee, keep the brace on. If it holds him back, so be it.

Re: We won!!!!!!!!!! (Redskins vs. Raiders Post Game Thread)
The win yesterday wasn't exactly great one, but win is win. For those people who said we don't have lot of talents, I disagree. We have talents, it is simply matter of utilizing them on right plays. Someone said that Helu isn't consistent, it's not fair to call that because Helu played only 3rd down passing siutations, which is rarely, until Morris got hurt and all of sudden, he rushed well. I put all of our offense failures on Mike and Kyle, Kyle has been calling for lot of passing plays. Like the announcers showed on tv yesterday during the game, first three games - we called 28% running plays and 72% passing plays. Granted, it's mostly due to playing catch up games. However in all of beginning of the games, Kyle called for passing plays, which factored in our lack of moving ball. Until yesterday, Kyle finally called for more running plays, which played big role in winning the game. I only hope Kyle realize that in the bye week and call more running plays for rest of the season. We have Morris and Helu, along with Griffin - use all of them on pistol formations often and then we will have plenty opportunities to score points.
I'm still concerned about our defense, they played somewhat better yesterday. Tackling is improved in little ways, regardless it's still an issue. I'm not sure if our defense will improve lot when Jackson and Jenkins return, OLB and DE are not main issues on the defense. All of players need to do their assignments accordingly to improve our defense. So we should not expect for those two players to improve our defense greatly. |

He also has perfect throwing mechanics and has the pocket presence where he slides to create more time to throw. |

With our tackling issues, they would've ran all over us.
Pretty much this. It probably would have been an Eagle's game redux - Although McFadden is no Shady McCoy (who, I contend, is the ONLY reason they beat us - that and our own offensive ineptitude through 2 1/2 quarters), he is a capable and competent runner when uninjured. We may still have won but not so sure. |
Re: We won!!!!!!!!!! (Redskins vs. Raiders Post Game Thread)
Did I hear right that Logan Paulsen might be done for the year? This isn't any sort of insider info here, I thought I heard it mentioned today over the air. Is this true?
|
Re: We won!!!!!!!!!! (Redskins vs. Raiders Post Game Thread)
If we lose Logan.. That'll be terrible. I honestly think he's our most solid TE on the roster.
I also think Helu Jr. isn't getting enough touches. I know a lot of elements are involved, but he looked quick yesterday and at times look to have great vision. |
Re: We won!!!!!!!!!! (Redskins vs. Raiders Post Game Thread)
I saw on one play nearing end of the game after Raiders used up all of their timeouts, Paulsen was on ground holding his knee on one play but he managed to walk over to sideline to prevent referee to take injury timeout. So I'm assuming it has to do something with his knee. Paulsen might be a reserve player but he is vital to our running game, it will be huge blow if we do lose him for rest of the year.

Re: We won!!!!!!!!!! (Redskins vs. Raiders Post Game Thread)
Robert was 10-13 118 yards yesterday off of play action.
I'm hoping we can brainstorm a way to take advantage of the A gap blitz, because that's the biggest issue for us on 3rd downs right now. Teams keep doing it to us because we havn't been able to stop it. |

Helu is getting too many touches. He averaged 3.3 yard per carry yesterday. He's fine as the third down back catching passes out of the backfield, but his running ability between the tackles is nothing to write home about. |

Re: We won!!!!!!!!!! (Redskins vs. Raiders Post Game Thread)
Morris is the bell cow and if someone isn't getting enough carries, it's him. HE needs the rock. All he ever does is get stronger and stronger over the course of a game. Helu is a nice reserve but he isn't better than our guy.
Why take away touches from a guy who was second in the NFL last year in yards and TDs? |

I saw that as well. I also saw him wiggling his knee cap. Could be a knee cap problem as well. Either way it sucks. He is our best blocking TE by far. |

Can't confirm with any web posts. The only thing I found was he did injure his knee and was hoping for good news today from the Drs... Logan Paulsen - Washington Redskins - 2013 Player Profile - Rotoworld.com |

For the same reason people would suggest benching the reigning Rookie of the Year in favor a guy that has seen six quarters(four of which against a garbage team) of full speed, NFL action. |

3rd down we rank 26th in the NFL completing 32% of our third downs. Scoring we rank 14th |

I don't even want to go there. That is one of the dumbest things I have heard. Bench him for Cousins... Why don't we play him and let him work all this rust and other problems out? The only reason I would bench him now would be to make sure he is ready to go next year when we have a line that can actually block. Putting Cousins behind our line is only going to lower his perceived trade value. Offensive line and tackling, the reason we are 1-3. |
