Republicans are divided: 48 percent approve, while 49 percent disapprove. Most tea party supporters approve of the government shutdown - 57 percent of them do. Disapproval of the shutdown is high among Democrats and independents. This CBS News poll was conducted after the partial government shutdown began on October 1.

This President has gone to a new low. He really can't find $500,000 to send to these families. Nothing like trying to prove a point at anyone cost. First the WWII Memorial now this.

You can thank the Tea Party for this. They are ecstatic about the shut down.

I find it funny that the Repubs are trying to pass legislation that would fund these veterans. Well, that's not how this works. You don't shut down the government and then pass legislation that YOU want. This is the compromise portion that they aren't getting. I hope the Senate shoots down any and all legislation crap from the Republicans until they come off their demands.

Really, like passing a law (Obama care) then deciding which parts of the law you want to postpone or keep.

We have the money on hand the president is using these people to make a point. He sure found the money to make those raids over the weekend but he can't find the money for this? Give me a break.

The President isn't the one that wanted the government shutdown, that was the Republicans (Tea Tards in particular). It's obvious by all the polls who the public blames for this. Even the Fox News polls had most of the people blaming the GOP.

What are you talking about? The shutdown is the Tea Party's doing. There is a memo from August signed by Tea Party Congresspeople which details their shutdown strategy. This is written proof that the shutdown is a Tea Party creation.

If the shutdown is causing problems, the blame lies with the Tea Party alone.

Re: So... The Government is Shut Down...

This has nothing to do with the shut down and is Obama just trying to prove a point. Like closing down the WWII memorial which is an outside memorial. It actually took more man power to try and close it down then it did to just leave it open.

That was my point this should not have been a problem but was made out to be by the president. If your going to use a memo to make a point you should also provide a link.

Seems like your chosing Party over Country. Interesting.

Because thats what it is, these politicians dont really care about their own people or this country, they putting party in front of their country. So screw my neighbor and my community, Im upset our party has lost multiple times at the polls, so we are going to do everything possible to shut down the government.

Get over it, you lost again! The people voted and the majority chose affordable health care.

I may not like it, you may not like it, but you cant try to change the will of the people. It doesnt work like that, and the Party will end up hurting itself even more.

Boehner: No End to Government Shutdown Without Concessions

House Speaker John Boehner insisted on Sunday that there aren’t enough votes in the chamber to pass a “clean” bill to reopen the government or raise the debt ceiling unless Democrats make some concessions to Republicans.
“There are not votes in the House to pass a clean [funding measure].” Boehner said on ABC’s This Week. “We are not going to pass a clean debt limit … The votes are not in the House … We are not going down that path.”

.......then let them vote and see

“I guarantee it,” McCain said. “Not only will you see, I guarantee it.”
Where are those GOPers on this thread talking about how the shut down was the President and the Democrats fault? The hilarious part at the end of McCain's interview was Martha MacCallum's sigh when he tells her "I guarantee it" after her comment "we'll see about that" in relation to defunding Obamacare. So I'm down in Nags Head fishing in a tournament and a large section of the beach was shut down because its considered a national park. All the beaches around the park did just fine without the governments leadership not sure why they think we need them to go to the beach in the first place. F*ck the Federal Government it can stay shut for all I care. I'm tired of them acting as they can control us 24/7. I saw this the other night and thought those poor as people in those states truely dont have a voice.

The bottomline argument is that if you dont have health care and go to any medical facility for help, you will get the treatment you need, even if you cant afford it. Then those costs are just spread to everyone in the who does have coverage or the tax payers of that state. So what sense does it make to do nothing and continue down the same path?

Folks, GDP right now accounts for something like 16.5% and is rising at the fastest rates ever in the last 15 years for all health care, most modern countries its around 10-12%. We need to do something and the GOP have offered no serious alternatives.
