So ... I'm not "people"??? Saying Goat is an idiot who twists (or simply invents) facts to support his "I hate everything about anyone named Shanahan" theories is pointless b/c he simply pretends such statements don't exist. He's not a goofball. He's a one-note hater whose every post demonstrates his willingness to ignore reality, history and his own prior statements. Remember, this is the guy who said "We need to improve speed at the WR position" in the same thread where he said we should have resigned J. Gaffney instead of signing Garcon. The level of ignorance he displays is beyond any measurable scale. |

You can tell Goat hasn't watched any games. If there is one thing our team has done is continue fighting. Maybe one or two games I've seen where they were just absolutely beat down and they knew they weren't coming back. (Green Bay/San Fran) |
Re: Worst Mistake of the Shanahan Era
1) changing to 3-4 (and playing Rak as a LB instead of DE like he was in college)
2) Not shutting RG3 down after the Raven's game when he originally injured his knee. 3)McNabb 4) Haslett 5) Burns I can't stand Shannahan. His OL are constantly too small. I prefer big OL like the hogs of old and Air Coryell offense instead of the west coast offense. To right this team the whole coaching staff needs to go and we need to go back to the 4-3 and get us some HOGS for OL to play real redskins football |

How good was the team when they had an early first round pick year after year? Rogers? Campbell? Landry? ST? Still crappy every year. Pats pick late in the first round every year. They have been contenders for over a decade. Doesn't matter if you don't have a franchise QB. As long as we do, the loss of first rounders won't mean jack. |

I would still contend RG3 is a franchise QB though i'm sure his confidence has had to of taken a hit this year.
Watching the replays this morning, it is just amazing how clean of a pocket CK had at times. |

I don't think I've ever wanted a season to be over as much as this season. Like at least when we've been bad in the past, I could still at least enjoy the football aspect. All this crap is taking ANY fun out of this.

I'll give you that and not blame Shanny for putting him there but he could have moved him to DE if we stayed with a 4-3. Biggest mistake was going to 3-4. We needed to improve the defense but it would have been easier by staying with a 4-3 |

The scheme isn't the problem one bit, it's who he chose to run it. Haslett wanted no part of the 3-4 and would rather run a 4-3. So why would Shanny get a guy who didn't want to run this scheme to be his defensive coordinator? By far, this has been Shanahan's biggest fuck up in DC. Nothing else, and I mean NOTHING else comes close to this mind boggling move. In fact, I should reflect my list more like this.. 1) Hiring Haslett 2) 3) 4) 5) 6) 7) 8) 9) Trading for McNabb and Brown We would not be in this situation right now had he hired a half way decent DC. |

Re: Worst Mistake of the Shanahan Era
Mike Shanahan quoted on profootballtalk.com:
“One of the reasons why we had the success that we had, probably the type of success where he separated himself from every rookie in the history of the game, is he was able to do some things that other quarterbacks couldn’t do,” Shanahan said. “We had a dual threat. Now that threat is not quite there, as strong as it was a year ago." I wonder how that happened, Shanahan. You moron! I change my vote from Mike Shanahan going away from the 4-3 to the harm he did to RGIII's career (and our chances of winning a playoff game last season as well as our chances of winning this season, and Dan Snyder's investment in RGIII, and NFL football fans everywhere) by playing RGIII when it was obvious that he was seriously injured. I thought I had forgiven MS for that, but this quote reminded me that I haven't. I think that Mike Shanahan's continuing failure to protect RGIII which, I believe, has damaged the relationship between HC and QB, will ultimately be the tipping point that incents Dan Snyder to fire MS at the end of this season. If RGIII gets seriously injured again this season behind this crappy OL, you can be certain that MS will be fired. |
Man, the BS sure is flying
Yeah there was rumor that RG3 and RG2 got in a heated argument after the game |

Blunt but true. I'm amazed by the basic maxims of football that Shanahan ignores. Here's one: "Good big people beat good little people." |
Re: Worst Mistake of the Shanahan Era
Worst mistakes in Shanahan era:
1) "No, Dan...I'm sure he's ready to be my offensive co-ordinator." 2)"I know Jim is risky, but once we put the 3-4 in place, and give him control, it should work out well." 3)"Call Andy. Tell him I'm absolutely interested. I think Don has a lot left in the tank." 4)"He doesn't look hurt.....keep him in there." 5)"Washington seems like it'll be a great fit for me." |

Little too early to call the griffin move a bad one. just 3 months ago it was still a good one right lol lets all wait and see. griffin needed to be humbled. let this play out. hell come back next year hungrier to do well than ever and well see.

Franchise quarterbacks only come around every 40 years or so. It would have been crazy to pass him up. |
The 2011 draft was one of the better drafts for QBs. The 2010 draft was not, but there were non-first rounders who could have helped this teams situation, although that would have meant no roster spot for John Beck, so you can see the solution there.
For arguments sake, here are the QB that were available in the respective drafts at our draft slot in the Shanahan era.. Is there anyone in the list you'd rather have over RGIII, even considering the price? 2010 Tebow, Clausen, McCoy 2011 Gabbert, Ponder, Dalton, Kaepernick, Mallett 2012 Tannehill, Weeden, Osweiler, Wilson, Foles IMO, perhaps Dalton but I'm not sold that he hasn't already reached his ceiling. Kaepernick or Wilson I'd be fine with but only because of the cost of picks. Also think that Dalton or Kaepernick would have meant 'over drafting' them in the 1st round that year or trading picks to move up in the 2nd round. |

So I'm curious, specifically which 2 players (which is the net loss of the trade so far) would have impacted our fortunes this season? |

Re: Worst Mistake of the Shanahan Era
So I'm curious, specifically which 2 players (which is the net loss of the trade so far) would have impacted our fortunes this season?
It's more convoluted than that since the Rams traded our #6 pick from 2012 to Dallas (drafted Morris Claiborne). I'm sure it netted them 2 or more lower picks, but not sure who they drafted. You can bet that Fox will give the full analysis at some point if Griffin continues to struggle, and the Rams do well. They may end up with #5 or better in the next draft if the Skins continue to play like they have this year.

Pop quiz hotshot. How did we acquire RGIII? A. Traded for him B. Commissioner Appointment C. Drafted in the 1st round of the 2012 draft D. I don't comprehend math |
