Yes.

Clemons, Byrd ...

T.Jackson?
True enough. At the same time, just b/c he's from Cal, doesn't mean he's a good pick-up either.

It doesn't sound like he will be in all that high demand. Plenty of time to kick the tires on him and see if still has skills.
It has nothing to do with being from Cal, he actually had some decent seasons before last year.
I guess this is what the anti-Redskins method of free agency feels like. Weird to see us letting all the top talent go to other teams.
I have a feeling we'll make a push for Byrd now that most safeties have been picked up and we also haven't spent as much as I imagined. I thought Talib would be signed by now as well. Hmmmm

Re: NFL Free Agents Signings Thread

per Schefter's twitter, Mitchell gets 25M/5 years.

Another 5M/Y safety. Again, not seeing Byrd getting 9M/Y. If he doesn't get the number he likes he may head back to Buffalo. Will be interesting to see how this plays out as his options and teams options dry up.

lol ... just ribbing you. He did. I checked.

However, you have to admit, you have a tendency to be a bit biased to players from the West Coast, particularly the Cali, universities.

As to DeCoud, who knows. The fact that the Falcons, who were hurting on D, cut him loose says something I think. 2012 he's a pro bowler, 2013 he's apparently getting toasted on a regular basis. At 29, he is what he is and that's most likely a journeyman with declining skills.

Aaarrrrrgggghhhhh! Darn you, Tampa!

This almost certainly spells the end of Revis' time in TB. Wonder if they found someone to trade with?

skinsfaninok 03-11-2014 09:57 PM

Denver will talk to ware apparently. That would b nasty

6yr/58mil 28mil guarenteed for Byrd. No thanks.

Will be interesting to see where we get our starting FS and I am not counting on a guy who had been out of football for two years.

Well anyone new would be better than last year, but the D will look pretty much the same as last year as far as core players. I hope it really was the scheme that was the problem last year.

An improved offense should also help the D.

Get me either Cromartie or Graham, Chris Clemons , Antonio Brown and Sproles once he is released. IMO we are playing it smart by not shelling out the dough on type A free-agents.

Saints dropped out of nowhere to land Byrd. I bet Jimmy Graham is really pissed. If I were Jimmy, I'd sit out till week 6 before signing the tender. That way he accrues a season under his belt and fucks the Saints in the process. It's a business after all. Nothing personal.

Still very early in the process and their are still talented players out there. Don't worry the team won't be the same as last year.

Since the 49ers are stacked in the OL with the addition of Martin, they are going to have to make room for him. Wonder who will be released?

Talib to Denver $57 million 6 years

$26 million guaranteed

I am sure the Redskins offer was very close to that

Forty Niners get 2 former #1 picks for a 6th and 7th rounders, why can't the skins take those kind of chances? Especially when a T is needed.

Denver's secondary just got so much better with Ward and Talib, if they get Ware paired with Miller they could be deadly.

Yep, I saw what he did in college. Harbaugh will get the best out of him, a steal in my opinion for a 7th rounder.

Broncos are all in. Apparently they have unlimited cap room. I can think of 5 huge contracts they have off the top of my head.

It'll come back to bite them in the ass. Doesn't Manning alone make $20mil?

They are hoping he retires. They will probably be in cap hell in a couple of years but are going all in this year.

I'm glad the Skins didn't pay Talib that money. Whenever you need him most, he is always injured.

If they have to play Seattle or San Fran again in the SB, these moves won't make a difference. That offense was terrible that day.

I like what Denver is doing. They're trying to win it now and that makes sense with Manning in the twilight.

Denver has no choice but to go all in. Even if it F's them up for a few years it will be worth it if they get a SB win.

Re: NFL Free Agents Signings Thread

I really like New Orleans grabbing Byrd because they needed an impact guy. Thought that one impact guy was worth way more to them than all the value signings in the world.

For Denver, the interesting thing is how far ahead they already were in the AFC before they signed Ward and Talib. I agree with those of you saying that this doesn't really close the gap with Seattle or SF any, but I also think it doesn't do a ton to widen the gap with the rest of the AFC. They can collect all the go-for-it veterans they want, all it does is most likely their special teams weaker. They're already the favorites in the conference, I don't see that changing.

Its gonna be interesting to see how they will be able to keep the second best WR in the league after next season, especially if they dont win the SB.

You'd actually want Gabbert and Martin? No thank you. Neither will be in the league much longer.

I'm glad we didn't pay Byrd or Talib that kind of money but I am disappointed in missing out on guys like Verner, Ward and Mitchell.

Yep, they're stacking that defense impressively. Still going after Jon Beason (good, take him from the Giants!) and DeMarcus Ware after signing Talib and Ward. Possibly losing Decker and Moreno shouldn't slow down Manning very much if at all.

They have no excuses this year. If they don't win the SB, it's a failed season.

I wouldn't mind seeing Peyton win one more, I'm a huge fan of his.

Harbaugh being a former QB will get the best out of both.

If we traded two of our precious draft picks for Gabbert and Martin I'd have a royal hissy fit.
