Lets sign Brian De la Puente and end the week as free agent champions of the offseason
|
Re: Redskins Sign DeSean Jackson
seems like BA and the FO did a great job of 1) securing DJax first visit was with us and 2) putting in the time and effort to squeeze out a reasonable contract and not caving b/c of reported interests by the raiders et al.
seems like a competent FO by all accounts. im sure jason segal more than once tried to act like he had to go to the west coast to hear those offers and im sure more than once the skins politely and professionally reeled him back in. i did not think we could sign d jax for a reasonable FMV contract but bruce pulled it off. |

That title still belongs to either Denver or the Patriots. |
Re: Redskins Sign DeSean Jackson
Very reasonable contract. The same old Skins would have made him the highest paid WR in the league. Hoping we can finally put that to bed now.
|
Also lets put to bed the fact that the Eagles got rid of him because of some article NJ.com posted about gang ties. His pending paycheck, and his relationship with Kelly had nothing to do with gangs. Lol. Nobody from the Eagles organization ever accused him of gang ties.

Yeah it was an obvious smear attempt by the Eagles. Unfortunately too many people bite on that stuff hook line and sinker. |

Gruden Snyder Griffin
Nope |
On a related note (couldnt find a 2014 draft thread) i hope now we can also put to bed the need to snag another pass catching tight end in the draft. If we draft anything other than a cb, safety, or olineman I will be a little upset. I still say grab the best available c, rg with that second round pick.

This is a fantastic point, one that was bugging me badly yesterday. If they did pay him like that, he would've done nothing, as is par for the 'Skins. Hope it works. HTTR |

This move definitely opens things up in the draft to go hard after defense and offensive line. |

Depends on what Gruden think of Paulesen, but my lean is in the 4th or 5th we are grabbing a TE. Reed needs to prove he can stay healthy. Gruden offense runs the 2 TE set a sh*t ton |

Some of the stuff was obviously overblown. But let's not act like he's doesn't have any issues either. |
lol..
So different than the past. We were smart this year. Filled some holes, got a big time playmaker in his prime, and did not break the bank. |
Re: Redskins Sign DeSean Jackson
Good contract, didn't overpay.

Never been arrested. Never had a dui. Never been suspended. Bit of a diva like all good wr's. So what? |
Re: Redskins Sign DeSean Jackson
Nice contract, well done BA. Welcome D.Jaxs.

Good to know. |
Re: Redskins Sign DeSean Jackson
I don't know how anyone can't be excited about this... DJ and Garcon, Roberts in the slot. Moss as a #4. That's deadly speed right there.
That does lead me to think there's going to be a duke out between Robinson and Hank for that last WR spot. It also makes me think they're going to release my all time favorite player, Nick Williams. Meh. |
Re: Redskins Sign DeSean Jackson
Moss could be on the bubble too IMO.
|
Re: Redskins Sign DeSean Jackson
I had to turn off Andy Pollin this morning. My God, what a cry baby. It's like he was sulking the whole way through about the signing. Ugh.

Re: Redskins Sign DeSean Jackson
Moss cap number definitley hurts his chances a bit, they can save half a million under the cap by keep Robinson over Moss. I really like Moss, but he drops alot of balls. He is going to produce 20-30 catches this year, maybe. So it's all about what they can afford, makes the most sense for the cap.

Lol. I did not advocate this signing at all, but it's actually a good signing so I'm not sure why he was so upset. Yes, he can help us drastically. Yes, he's a diva. But the deal was reasonable. |

I think we'd all like to see this happen. Nevertheless, if we have enough cap space left, I'd love to see the Skins pick up one of De La Puenta, Winston, or Clabo. Then, I'd like to see one or two OL drafted, as well. |
Pretty reasonable contract, but still don't like the overall amount we spend on the WR position. Lets remember that DJax is a pro bowl caliber punt returner also. I think this signing was an absolute steal. |

He hasn't done shit in terms of punt returning in years so you can pretty much scratch that off the list. |

But here I go: Eric Winston was and is a quality RT who has been on 3 teams in 3 years - Red Flag Eric Winston had very little traction at the start of FA - Red Flag Eric Winston is 30 years old - yellow flag Eric Winston and Ryan Clark were work together on the NFLPA, where Winston just beat out Clark for presidency - connection Eric Winston is a SERIOUS upgrade over Polumbus. Shoot me now for saying this We ought to sign Winston and cut Polumbus now. |
Re: Redskins Sign DeSean Jackson
In a roundabout way we just got our 1st round draft pick back.
Things are shaping up nicely. |
Re: Redskins Sign DeSean Jackson
I didn't want it to happen, but what's done is done.
Hopefully, he puts up something like: 80-1,100-8. I'd be happy with those numbers. And the deal is reasonable, much like the Hatcher deal. So right now, on paper, this team is easily better than the atrocity we fielded last year. Now let's go to the draft and get a good RT and FS, then see where Gruden and Co. can take us. As others have said, the core of our offense is quite young. As long as RG3 holds up his end of the bargain, we should have a great offense for a long time. Don't want to be the Cowboys though, and have a great offense but no defense. |

Redskins Sign DeSean Jackson
He hasn't done shit in terms of punt returning in years so you can pretty much scratch that off the list.
Chip Kelly didnt use him because he was afraid of him getting hurt. He can still be a pro bowl caliber kick returner if we choose to make him one. I am certainly not scratching that off my list. Edit: he actually had 16 punt return attempts last year and ten ko return attempts. |

Andy Reid also limited him in terms of returning punts and I hope we do the same. You don't let a marquee receiver get hurt on punt returns. |

LOL. Who cares?
Riley Cooper: 5 yr 25mil Eric Decker 5 yr 36 mil Golden Tate 5 yr 31 mil Golden Tate got the Paul Kruger deal this year, one that Detriot will regret for years, he's a terrible player, a #2, borderline #3. Riley Cooper is a clear #2 and got 25 mil, possession guy. A guy who is not a game changer, but can make some unbelievable 8 yard receptions. Eric Decker flat robbed the bank. He ends up in a spot where he has to be the man and gets no help. The Jets front office is a joke, this is the worst of all the contracts. He's a borderline #2, more like a #3. Folks we get a game changer for 3 years at 24 million. 24 million. A #1 WR, the biggest deep threat receiver in the game today. Wow
How does being a #2/#3 = a terrible player? Is Andre Roberts a terrible player? |
