Good read, but one thing caught my attention.

The AFC scouting director that gave his take on the Eagles said, "And they have a few guys, but no difference makers at corner." Really? So Brandon Boykin's 6 INTs didn't make a difference? He must be the scouting director for the Raiders.

On a different note, I've been defending the Eagles way to much this offseason. Perhaps it's because, subconsciously, I don't want to jinx our season, but it's a little scary. :D

I imagine Manziel is one of those polarizing guys in a locker room. A lot will love him b/c he epitomizes the "look at me" part of playing sports.

Some players, who are not necessarily bad teammates but who love it when they get to draw attention to themselves, will look at Manziel and think "yeah, I would be doing that too if I could, more power to him." Mixed in with them will be the guys who are the Brett Farve love the game guys - players who really just want to play. It's not a job, it's a game. These groups of players are going to stick up for him and accuse his critics as just being haters.

Other players, the guys who work their craft, who see football as a job and think the best way to succeed is to be team first/individual second, are going to HATE him - even if he is successful on the field.

Admittedly, I don't know much about the guy, but everything I see about him points to a selfish, entitled personality for which I have a baseline dislike. Pretty sure I would be one of those who thought "He better be really damn good and then I will only tolerate him."

Manziel and Griffin? Not even close.

No they are not. Thats because the hand you are dealt has sooo much to do with it. That team was disgustingly blessed with talent also. Im not sure how much Noll had to do with the draft, but between his coaching smarts and the bulk of those players......dang.

For a second I thought once he became a professional he would cease some of the "act"...now Im realizing this is who he is really is...he is like the messiah of douchebags.

A guy who puts a stack of money up to his ear like its a phone and actually speaks into it is the douchebag prophet.

Why the hate for Manziel? This thing with the money is a non-issue. Now, if he starts skipping Cleveland's workouts, gets caught smoking weed multiple times by the NFL, or kicks other players in the crotch, then I'd understand the dislike. But I don't think he's done anything hate-worthy yet.

Personally, I hope Manziel succeeds in the NFL. It'll take some maturing, but I think he'll grow up with time.

Manziel-Griffin lll is a terrible comparison. Griffin was more mature, more humble, and had a better work ethic coming out. Griffin and Manziel are very different people, with different games as well.

off-field marketing and branding seems to be very important to him. fairly volatile ingredient.

lebron's "decision" was a disaster but he has done a great job of rebounding and marketing himself as a family man. A lot more crossover markets to tap into as a family guy basketball star vs a basketball star. [COLOR="Sienna"](puns intentional - im cheesy[/COLOR])

sherman's constant public chatter and now-famous post game interview seemed to work out well for him so far.

Ive never spoken to the guy. We do not know him. We know snapshots of his life, a social media photo album. I think he is a gamer, and I think his teammates love him. I think he is a natural born leader, and I will root for him unless he is playing the Redskins.

Rich Tandler's Five Reasons to be Optimistic About the 2014 Season. I like his thoughts on this and I think there may be even more reasons to be optimistic.

"—Improved pass rush—Between the addition of Jason Hatcher and a more aggressive scheme on defense, the Redskins should be able to get more heat on the quarterback this year. That should not only improve their sack total (36 in 2013, tied for 21st in the NFL), it should lead to quarterbacks throwing the ball up for grabs.

—Improved special teams—New special teams coach Ben Kotwica is smart and experienced and it appears that teams will be more of an emphasis this year. But the main reason to think that the kicking units will get better is that they have nowhere to go but up.

—Strong rushing game—The Redskins were fifth in the NFL in rushing yards last year and with Alfred Morris returning, they should be able to move the ball on the ground. Will Jay Gruden get too pass happy? That seems unlikely, as the Bengals were in the top 10 in rushing attempts two out of the three years he was calling plays as the offensive coordinator in Cincinnati.

—A healthy and prepared Robert Griffin III—The 2012 rookie of the year did not really have a shot at repeating his debut season performance. Basically our offense should be excellent - healthy Griff, DJax, Garcon, Almo. What he doesnt mention is the oline? Also Im not ready to say that Hatcher (who just had surgery) is going to lead to sacks and up for grabs throws by opposing qb's - but maybe.

Hatcher with Cofield should be disruptive enough to open up sacks for Rak and Kerrigan. Though the health of those two (Hatch/Cofield) will be key.
