Re: Redskins Free Agency 2016
Interesting. I thought I read somewhere they'd want him to play closer to 280 (what he played at in college).
|
Re: Redskins Free Agency 2016
Also, the more I think about it, the more I want us to cut Culliver. I think for the money, we could do one more stop-gap and then be able to extend our own free agents.

Re: Redskins Free Agency 2016
Will Blackmon is close to resigning

Re: Redskins Free Agency 2016
The Eagles cleared a lot of cap space by trading Murray and Maxwell. I know that seems counter intuitive, but neither guy was given a big signing bonus up front. Instead the contracts contained big guaranteed salaries in the first, second, and third years of the deal.
In the case of Maxwell the Dolphins were willing to take on the guaranteed salaries (LOL at that). In Murray's case, he wanted out of Philly so bad that he helped restructure the guaranteed money such that it made the deal more palatable for Tennessee. So the Eagles got out from under most of the guaranteed money. Hat tip to Howie Roseman for being a smart MFer last year. Chip said sign these two guys, and Howie negotiated deals that he knew he could get out from under if Chip weren't around for long. Pretty masterful job as much as it sickens me to say it. |

Offense is still a mess, but they have a lot of cap room AND draft picks to fix that. |
Re: Redskins Free Agency 2016
Even if the Eagles are clearing cap, to go out and spend again in the same fashion probably not the correct course of action. And they are basically "starting over" which is never easy with a rookie HC and a roster that is depleted talent wise. Sure they can add new guys, but as we've seen numerous times in Philadelphia....chemistry matters. Matters a lot. New faces don't equal success.
Lotta holes to fill. They got good TEs, a good safety and a two really good Dlinemen. Oline is garbage, WR is garbage, Ryan Matthews is the Sam Bradford of RBs. Linebackers are garbage. When Demarco Murray goes for 1200 and 10 TDs this year.... |

You want some good news? Sam Bradford is their QB. :D |

It's their huge stock of draft picks that will help them, but that will take time. They have a 1st, two 3rds, a 4th, two 5ths, a 6th, and two 7ths. And that's before anything they just got in the Maxwell and Murray deals. This is a deep draft, if they can actually figure out how to evaluate talent they can do some damage in a few years. That's a big if though. Ahem, Marcus Smith, ahem. |
If you move kyshoen jarrett back to Saftey, your short a DB. What is going be easier to fill?
I think we still need a CB regardless. Ky and DHall can play FS/SSG and slot. Duke SSG but can play some Free.
Breland has 1 CB spot locked down. The other is pending Cully's recovery/return to form and it would be nice to have a dedicated NB. |

:D
HA. ALSO true. I just don't know what to make of their offense with the new coach. Obviously people figured out Kelly, so just don't know what they plan to do. WRs ARE garbage. |
Re: Redskins Free Agency 2016
culliver isn't getting cut. there's already a shortage of CBs on the FA market, so there's no real replacement. we're probably going to pay blackmon a bit more than we want just because of the shortage. we'd rather have a younger guy.

Re: Redskins Free Agency 2016
Megatron has too much integrity to call it a day and then suddenly be like, "Yo, a team that's NOT the Lions called me."

Unless they want to go sign Brent Grimes, but no. |

i don't think we're looking to sign a 32 year old CB. especially one that still wants to get paid. |

Cooley says they should cut Culliver... injury + bad season + contract being voided = time to cut |

Mason Foster appears to have agreed to a contract with the Redskins. He is taking the fifth, when asked if he has signed.

If Grimes divorced his wife or committed her to an insane asylum, then we should definitively go after him. A probowl player getting cut because of his insane wife. I just read some of his wife's twitter page and she clearly has some kind of mental disorder, bi-polar or something. Her quotes are not only crazy they are beyond classless. What amazes me is they have kids and she talks like a crazy crack head. |

Re: Redskins Free Agency 2016
General note. I used to LOVE Redskins free agency, waiting on bated breath for every move. Now I'm kind of like please don't do something stupid, no whammies no whammies.
What deal struck in the first day or two of free agency ever worked out? I gotta think the hit rate (getting the right value for the money) is like 10%. You do much better on the late March pickups. |

By big time I mean fire up the jets and load up a dump truck with money type deal. I literally couldn't think of one. The guys who sign those deals basically can't even hope to play up to them much less outplay them like a team is hoping for. |
Re: Redskins Free Agency 2016
The Haynesworth deal will forever burn bright in the bowels of my soul......
|
Re: Redskins Free Agency 2016
Will Blackmon made some big time plays last year. When he stripped the Dallas RB on the 1 or 2 yard line to save a sure TD...that was flat out brilliant.
He wasn't terrible in coverage- not great, but not terrible. I would like to see him back. |
Re: Redskins Free Agency 2016
Colt McCoy signs a 3 year deal with the Redskins... 1 year is voidable
|
Re: Redskins Free Agency 2016
Saw something on twitter that McCoy was staying with the Skins but haven't seen any confirmation from any of the standard sources.

Now we need to pick up a couple UDFA QBs and let them throw in training camp and we are all set at this position. |
Re: Redskins Free Agency 2016
Found this on another board.
Redskins deal with Kedric Golston, $1.005 million, $985,000 salary, $20,000 first game roster bonus, up to $60K playtime incentives |

I don't know if 06 Drew Brees was "fire up the jets" style big (considering he was coming off the shoulder injury) but I think the contract was considered big for its' day. |

Re: Redskins Free Agency 2016
Good to hear about Mason Foster.
Also reading that Tress Way was extended a one year tender. Probably someone we should lock up long-term too eh? |
Re: Redskins Free Agency 2016
I heartily approve of every transaction done by the Skins so far this off-season. What a difference it is to have a real GM now!
I am relieved to have Colt McCoy back in the fold. I think he is the perfect backup QB for us. Now, we pick up a developmental QB in the draft or as an UDFA and we're set at that position. |
