Re: Redskins 1st Round Pick: WR Josh Doctson (TCU)
Both Ross and Roberts play teams. Grant does not. Grant isn't a good enough wr to JUST be a back up and not play teams. Seems like Grant has been here for a while and can never seems to take that next step. He seems like the one that will be gone.
Why would we pay Roberts 4 million just to play teams? |
Re: Redskins 1st Round Pick: WR Josh Doctson (TCU)
Ross v. Grant will be a battle in camp this year - and it may be that the loser is fighting the rest of the roster to keep six WR's instead of five.
DJax, Garcon, Crowder, Doctson, Ross/Grant. On the roster, only Ross provides the speed that DJax provides.
Doc will play a lot IMO, maybe even start. Wouldn't be surprised. |

72 catches and 6 TDs as the #2 receiving option is bad production? |
72 catches and 6 TDs as the #2 receiving option is bad production?
Of course it is. We're paying him to be a number 1! If he's paid to be the top guy he should produce like the top guy. Even if he isn't. All of them are being paid. They should all produce like the top guy. 100/1500/10 for everyone! |

I thought Garcon had a big bounce back season...completely impressed last year. I will never forget the game winning catch against the Eagles: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/dc-sports-bog/wp/2015/10/04/watch-pierre-garcons-gutsy-game-winning-touchdown-catch/ Garcon is still a bad ass. What about Crowder, 58 catches as a rookie? Folks Im feeling good about receiver. |
Re: Redskins 1st Round Pick: WR Josh Doctson (TCU)
And I think this is exactly how the coaches feel about him. It's love and hate. He does just enough to justify keeping him and then pisses you the fuck off 5 minutes later. Personally I'll be glad when we can afford to move on from him but right now we need him. lol.
Exactly. "D Jax - nooo stop it stop it - I love it! Lol |

u have to keep DJAX he's just too good

He had 72 catches but didn't come close to cracking 1000 yards. That is what I call mediocrity. Her had a few alright games here and there but most of the season he was a average wr who struggled to get separation. |

The won't. Restructure or you're cut. But I would keep Roberts over Grant simply cause he can return kicks and punts. In the end this was a terrible awful signing by Mr. We're Winning Off The Field! |

Re: Redskins 1st Round Pick: WR Josh Doctson (TCU)
They got Carrier, Paulsen, Paul, Davis, and Reed at TE. Id rather keep four of them than Roberts.

He may be called a a return man by some but he's done nothing on teams either. Just cut him. Grant? Well, he's small but he's slow. The only thing he added to his game last season was he dropped more passes than he did the previous year. He is over-matched by stronger, quicker NFL DB's. Cut him, too. Why is Garcon such a target? He has been a productive receiver for the Skins. Forget about how much money he makes. That's the nature of FA. DJax is a must have player. He is one of the top deep threats in the game. BTW, since return men were mentioned, I'd like to point out that we don't have any. Crowder was supposed to be a punt returner but he failed in that role, as did everyone else we put back there last season. Kickoff returners are no longer needed now that a team gets the ball on the 25 as a reward for not returning a kickoff. |
Re: Redskins 1st Round Pick: WR Josh Doctson (TCU)
Simply put, Andre Roberts isn't a "football player"
Folks draft isn't over, I could totally see us going WR later in the draft again. |

So what about DJ's "lack of production"? He barely cracked 500 yards. |

He did miss time though. Which is obviously a concern with him. I preface all positive comments about D Jax with " as long as he is healthy ". Lol |
Re: Redskins 1st Round Pick: WR Josh Doctson (TCU)
In the end I don't care which one we keep. It's just my thought that Garçon is more of a SM type of player, he's tough, durable, he blocks, etc. We shall see.

I like Garçon and get what you are saying, but at his salary and cap hit, you'd expect more statistical production. I love the guy for his attitude he brings and hope we can bring him back closer to 6-8mil a year. |

Re: Redskins 1st Round Pick: WR Josh Doctson (TCU)
next year is next year. this year PG stays and roberts should be cut once he's healthy, and i don't care about grant. we've spent 2-3 years being told how good he is in practice and seen absolutely nothing happen when he's in an actual game. at least ross can run down the field and scare somebody.
|
Re: Redskins 1st Round Pick: WR Josh Doctson (TCU)
Don't forget the DJax will open up the middle for Reed and Davis.
You can't double those guys without leaving single coverage over the top and not many can run with Jackson. I see this pick and a good bye to Grant. He has great attributes for a WR but doesn't get separation and all throws to him have to be perfect. he also doesn't impact special teams like Ross. |
Re: Redskins 1st Round Pick: WR Josh Doctson (TCU)
Doc is a stud, was the top WR on my board.
I actually mocked him to us on 1st pick. And we picked up an additional pick. |

Grant has played 2 years. Give him a break already.

LOL...the thing about Grant is all we hear is how great of a route runner he is. How great his hands are. How great he is in practice. This may be another Taylor Jacobs type of thing. Or maybe he's another Keenan McCardell. Who knows? But his time here is coming to an end. |
Re: Redskins 1st Round Pick: WR Josh Doctson (TCU)
I think the best thing we could hope for is Doctson comes in and beats out Garcon in camp. He's so good that they have to put him on the field. Love what Garcon give us, but let's be honest, for what he's being paid vs. the production doesn't add up.
