Ricky Jean Francois: We run the NFC East | ProFootballTalk
In the end, the Redskins took the crown with a 9-7 mark and a couple of their defensive linemen used Sunday’s 27-20 victory over the Eagles as a chance to offer a reminder of that fact. J.P. Finlay of CSN Mid-Atlantic caught Chris Baker and Ricky Jean Francois on video as they made their way to the locker room. Baker told the camera that everyone forgot the Redskins are “the real champs of the NFC East” and chastised those who picked the “trash a– Eagles” to win on Sunday. Jean Francois had a similar message. “We run the damn East,” Jean Francois said. “Not Philly, not Dallas, not all of them. We run the damn East. Better remember we got that damn title.” love the bold statement..... I think Ricky Jean was talking bout some Warpathers in the pre game thread. got some splaining to do.... |
Re: Red hot redskins (postgame thread)
Agreed. Bonus: our two games against non-common opponents are Carolina (1-5) and Arizona (2-3). Philly has to deal with Seattle and Atlanta. HAHA.
There's nobody we can't play with at this point. Maybe Brady. Sure would like to find out how we match up - in the SUPER BOWL. Why not us??
Yes, I loved the game, it's been a while where we played that well. But I have to admit we had a few advantages: (1) Backup LT -> which caused them to keep TE (Ertz) and RB in, limiting their offense (2) They committed incredible number of penalties which bailed us out (3) Their DT Logan went out, which helped the run (4) Their starting CB (McKelvin) - was out Loved the game, and we dominated so thoroughly none of the above matters, but I'd like to see us do it again in the next few games before I'm convinced we can play with anyone. Starting in November we'll really find out (Vikings, Packers, Cowboys, Arizona)... |
Re: Red hot redskins (postgame thread)
Winning in the NFL is about exploiting advantages, they did and got the win.
RK getting those early sacks really disrupted their game plan and set the tone for the game. We need more Garcon. He was a 113Rec & 1300Yrd receiver before Jackson came here. I love seeing him run in the open field punishing DBs. Ryan Grant does not need to be out there. If/when Doctson is ready, he needs to take over for Grant and Ross. He needs to get out there and play as much as possible. |
Re: Red hot redskins (postgame thread)
We just need to keep going deep to djax a couple times a game, he'll start hitting eventually

Re: Red hot redskins (postgame thread)
D-Jax leading our team in receiving yards, and Docston is not returning anytime in the very near future. Possibly IR if no improvement after the bye week. Why the hell is everyone so ready to send D-Jax packing? Lol. Am I the only one thrilled that he is on our team?

Re: Red hot redskins (postgame thread)
DJ is prone to hit or miss games, he's got some big hits ahead. People need to stop writing guys off so quick. Kerrigan anyone?
I would say Chrebet....
He's better than Chrebet, I think. Far better movement after the catch. Similar hands and catch radius, though. One thing I noticed from yesterday that I hadn't really noticed before -- we hit on a number of plays where guys were lined up where they usually aren't -- e.g., Davis out wide, Crowder out wide (even though he started in, two WRs to the outside cut in, leaving him to cut to the corner on the TD ). Getting our receivers moving in space and switching spots created matchups that we exploited well. When we've occasionally moved Thompson from the backfield out wide as a receiver, we've done well there too (not so much this season as last) because he's got wheels and good hands. Would love to see that more too. Between that and dialing up a lot of running plays, I would say this was the best play-calling we've seen from McVay so far. |

IMO Smith got some pretty good penetration this week, I remember him making a play or two |

Kerrigan was great. Would like to see more of the same when he isn't lined up against a rookie starting his first (and maybe only after that performance) game of the year. Either way he definitely did what he had to do! Edit: ill eat like some crow wings or something....not the entire crow until he has a big game against a legit line... |
Re: Red hot redskins (postgame thread)
was listening to some Detroit paper guys last night talking about the Lions as well as the up coming game vs the Skins.
They all had basically the samething to say...the Skins quietly have been solid in the NFC East...not a lot of drama like Dak and Zeke in Dallas, ODB jr in NY or Wentz hype/eagle quick start...a quieter Skins have been a better team the last 2 years. Said nothing special about Cousins except he gets it done. They also said the Redskins maybe have the most consistent offense in the league moving the ball. We rack up big yard and have a solid core of playmakers. Hearing respect from around the league is weird. |

I want to see something similar next week. On a side note, two former Redskins are leading the NFL in sacks, Lo Alexander and Orakpo. |

i still say Welker . . . Edleman is faster and not quite as quick, same for Chrebet . . . Crowder is quick and explosive, but not real fast (top end speed), a lot like Welker . . . knock on Welker was his top end speed too. |

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using Tapatalk
We can absolutely come out of the NFC as it stands rite now. Obviously anything can happen, but we are improving week by week. We have the depth, and the bye comes at a perfect time for us. I cannot remember thinking we are this solid in a long time. Wait until we get Cravens and Reed back! Unreal but we can actually "think" about going to a s..... Just too strange to say. |

Like a combo of Welker and Moss. Both are equally as damn shifty. I just remember Moss being better at the deep ball and I think Crowder is better than Welker with a long ball. |

Referring to Okies post about the talking heads calling us contenders in the NFC.
I said...as it stands right now....obviously like anything else in life shit can happen. But again ...as it stands right now...we are contenders to come out of the nfc. Translation = we are contenders to go to a s.... Still cant say it. |

Re: Red hot redskins (postgame thread)
Vikings, Falcons, Seahawks, Cowboys. We should have beaten Dallas. Way early but right now I like our chances against any of those teams.

I think Vikings will be one our toughest game this year, all others on our schedule we could/can/must beat, but them... it'll be really hard. |

Ehhh, well, I dunno about that. To tell you the truth, I think Seattle and Atlanta are a step above us. We also would have a very tough time beating Minnesota, although I think we may have Bradford's number. On the other hand, Dallas is a division opponent and that's different, IMO. Division games are a war. I think any team in our division could beat any other team in our division in any given game. I'd be happy if we win two of the games you mentioned. Our players have the right mind set which is one game at a time. It's going to take total focus and a solid all-around performance to keep winning games - one at a time. |
Re: Red hot redskins (postgame thread)
You guys still think the Vikings are world beaters? Lol
|
Re: Red hot redskins (postgame thread)
No. Then again, never thought them unbeatable. They have a tough D and a below average offense. If we play a complete game, we beat them with the over/under at 40.

Re: Red hot redskins (postgame thread)
Was referring to ki and french's last couple posts. Obviously they were a better team when these were written. Just excited that our post bye game seems incredibly winnable now. Httr!

Haha yeah they are devastated by injuries right now, and we now know that they were undefeated against teams that aren't as good as we thought they were at the beginning of the season. Looking forward to see how they do against the Lions... |
Re: Red hot redskins (postgame thread)
I would like to play the schedule game. Here's how I see the remaining games playing out.
Cowboys:
at Browns W at Steelers L v Baltimore W v Washington W at Minnesota W at New York W vs Tampa W vs Detroit L at Philadelphia W Finish: 13-3
Giants:
vs Philadelphia W vs Cincinnati L vs Chicago W @ Cleveland W @ Pittsburgh L vs Dallas L vs Detroit W @ Philadelphia L @ Washington L Finish 8-8
Eagles:
at Giants L vs Atlanta L @ Seattle L vs Green Bay W @ Cincinnati L vs Washington L @ Baltimore W vs New York W vs Dallas L Finish 7-9
Redskins:
vs Minnesota W vs Green Bay L @ Dallas L @ Arizona L @ Philadelphia W vs Carolina W @ Chicago W vs New York W Finish 9-6-1
We eke out a wildcard. We lose three straight in a brutal stretch where we play Green Bay at home on Sunday night in prime time, then a short week of travel to Dallas on Thanksgiving, then a long trip across country to Arizona. We go on code red and reel off four straight against a string of opponents that frankly is not that challenging in December. |

After watching last night, I think we can beat the Vikings. That defense seems to be awful suddenly. Their offense isn't good at all.

We beat Green Bay and Dallas, but lose to Chicago or Carolina in that less challenging stretch of games in December. Or we lose to Dallas, but win out minus Arizona. Either way 10-5-1 and we eke out the division over Dallas who goes 10-6! Yay ties! Dallas stumbles hard down the stretch losing to Pitt, us, Vikes, Gints, and Birds. They panic after the Vikings loss and throw Romo in than back to Dak when Romo gets hurt. Wheels fall off. They finish 10-6 and wish they had a beautiful tie on their record too. |

Vikings OC just resigned... I watched them agains the Bears. Their O-line is really, like REALLY, bad (I would almost dare to say they s*$k if kids weren't reading this). If Barry keeps blitzing like he did against the Bengals, it'll be ok. Kerrigan might have a day like he did against Eagles' RT... |
Re: Red hot redskins (postgame thread)
Personally, I wish he would have stayed through our game. Not that we don't know this new OC from his Philly days, but we can't really game plan as well now.
|
Re: Red hot redskins (postgame thread)
They sure didn't wait very long to throw Norv under the bus. That decision must have come from high up in the organization. What was he supposed to do when his OL is tissue paper, he's without Adrian Peterson, and his receivers can't get open? It's unfair to Norv but it won't affect his career in the least. He is still a brilliant OC.

From what I read it was Norv's decision, Zimmer saying it came as a surprise... |
