Re: Breaking: Trent Williams Suspended 4 Games
Actually, I hope they don't strip the captain's C necessarily. I hope Gruden puts it to the players to put it up for vote. Should we keep Trent as a captain, or should we give it to somebody else. Let the players vote, that way they choose to either stand by him or they choose to draw a hard line. The leadership role of the captaincy shouldn't come down from management - it's a decision the players should make. Keeping that decision with the players introduces the possibility that they rally together.

Re: Breaking: Trent Williams Suspended 4 Games
I would never release him..however I would trade him for 2 first round picks,a 2nd and a third and two starters....seriously what would you trade Trent for this offseason. would you do it for a 1st Rnd..or would you trade Trent even up for a top DL player . I know it aint happening but at least we can play GM .

Well if you could get that kind of haul who wouldn't trade him? But you can't. For what you could reasonably expect to get in return, I would never trade him. Our offense is built around strong pass protection, that's the entire foundation. Jackson is rendered useless without protection, it takes time to get 40 yards downfield. If Jackson is rendered useless, then the safeties can clamp down on Reed and Crowder, and suddenly we're not running after the catch as much. Trent is an unbelievably important player for us. |

Re: Breaking: Trent Williams Suspended 4 Games
If this were a witch hunt by Mara, Trent would have been screaming to the media and on social media that he didn't miss a drug test or piss dirty. But he's been silent. He knows he broke the rule.
Remember, for the NFL to announce the 4 game suspension that means the player's appeal has already been heard.
Yes, I know that. But the same would have been true for Josh Brown's case in fact it would have been further along. That said, I mean it more in terms of Mara coercing more testing of Redskins then a targeting of TW. I have heard all year, and believe that some in the NFL have a target on Norman's back, and in fact many were saying his random tests were abnormally frequent. So in the tinfoil hat moment, if Mara knows via back room channels, that TW is doing weed, maybe he sways a random test when he knows he can pull a gotcha on TW. TW's silence definitely implies guilt, but that doesn't mean that all the factors involved in the situation were just happenstance. All though they probably are. Summing up - it's more my distrust of Mara's dealings in the NFL and his abuse of privilege then it is defending TW's innocence, because I doubt he is. |

Aaron Hernandez did kill somebody under his watch though... Belichick is an awesome coach, but I'm not really sure you can coach a man into quitting pot for all his career if he has a thing with it. Eventually he will have to pay the price to understand he must keep away from it... However I'll ask again: how are we sure this is a pot thing? |

Don't you know that the narrative around here is that Belichick has supernatural mind-controlling powers over his players. "Look into my eyes. You will not smoke dope while you are on my team". He must have forgotten to tell Hernandez not to murder people while he had him hypnotized. |

And with the 14th pick in the 2017 NFL Draft the Washington Redskins select the top LT on the board.

BB is a great coach. That is all. That allows him to be more no nonsense. However the Pats staff has been in plenty of trouble and their players have too. Either way he WOULD NOT cut TW right now. |

He was suspended the final four games of the 2011 season. A second failed test under league rules would result in a 16 game suspension. When / if he violates it a third time, I believe he is basically suspended for good / up to the commissioner if he ever is allowed back. But I think someone here said that he didn't go to take the test at all, which is only a four game suspension. We do not know for sure that it was marijuana, or only marijuana that he would have tested positive for if he had went. |

4 games is gonna be rough, but the decent thing is is we got an extra week to get nseke ready to go. Nseke is good swing tackle but certainly the best left tackle in the game right now will be missed.

Re: Breaking: Trent Williams Suspended 4 Games
I will say, I don't know why marijuana is even a banned substance on the NFL's list, let alone illegal.
I still think people who smoke it are losers, whether it's legal or not, but there's no reason it should be illegal and there's no reason the NFL should consider it a banned substance. It's all neither here nor there, though. The rules are the rules and TW broke them, whether it was pot or a missed test or something different altogether, it's a let-down no matter what. |

I'd guess at least 2/3 of the league smokes. It beats drinking or pill popping. Hopefully with this election a few more states will pass recreational use.

I can clarify my thinking. I think if you get yourself addicted to something, that makes you a loser. Because you know the risks going in, we all do, we're all taught about the risks of addiction in school, and most of us by our parents too. So tobacco addiction, alcoholism, pain killers, any of that. Addiction = loser because you failed to recognize the demon and stop it in its tracks. Weed, if done socially with no signs of addiction, I don't really have a beef. Same with social drinking. I partake in social drinking, and very rarely binge drinking. But I know the signs of addiction, I know what leads to it, what causes it, and I know how to avoid it, so I do. Or, in the absence of actual medical addiction, if the behavior affects your mind or behavior to the point where memory recall is worse, or motivation is lower, or effectiveness in the workplace is lower, that also equates to loser. Basically, have fun, but keep it in control. If this stuff gets out of control and affects your life, then you're weak, and can't keep the demons at bay. That's a loser. |

I mean I am going to probably have a little more empathy for an addict because I think it permeates just a simple choice and actually affects the person physically. The demon of addiction can sneak up on someone. Before they realize what is happening it has you in its clutches. Yes though at some point you have to seek help, and put on your big boy pants. |

Well your point was "just because lightning struck once you think it will happen again in the future". If you had put a clause on the future being a minimum of five years away that would be different. Of course if we look at the future as anytime from now on than your point takes on a whole new meaning. Not trying to split hairs, and I think everyone would sign up for 5 years of no nonsense from TW and than smoke up, right now. Anyway we should land the plane and all pray together that Trent wants a HOF jacket more than a new bag of weed right now! Because that is basically his choice going forward. By that time he might even be able to spark up while giving his induction speech. Lol |
