Re: 2017 Redskins Salary Cap Status
After the penalty, they're currently at $11.35M in space. It's still not totally clear what Zach Brown's cap hit will be. Only thing I've seen so far is that the deal is worth "up to" $4.65M. That means it's got some incentives built in, some of which may not hit the cap at this time.
Let's figure he counts the full $4.65M until we hear otherwise. That means we've got $6.7M left. And as noted quite redundantly by several folks, they could still clear more space by dealing with Hall, Lauvao, and others. Rookies figure to require about $3.0M in space.
Zach Brown's 1-year deal with the Redskins is for $2.3M (worth a maximum of $4.6M through incentives). $700k is fully GTD Per Keim |

Per Keim
Wow! Both Zach Brown and Terrelle Pryor were steals for us in free agency. Good to see that players still want to join the Skins and not because we're overpaying for talent. |

Per Keim
Thank you. So current cap room stands at $9.0M. |

Per Keim
I'm amazed that the Skins were able to get such a deal! Half of his potential earnings are in incentives? Only $700K fully guaranteed? You can't not like this deal for a player who should be a starter on Day 1. |

Speaks to the demand for the MLB/ILB position. It's not seen as a highly impactful spot, Keuchley notwithstanding. Still though $2.3 does sound good to me. |
Re: 2017 Redskins Salary Cap Status
i wonder why we are keeping deangelo hall? he has not finished an season since 2014,why not cut him? i see a lot of folks on facebook wanting to sign morris, but why would we even consider that?

Re: 2017 Redskins Salary Cap Status
DeAngelo Hall recently accepted a reduced salary, dropping his base salary from $4.25M to $2.3M, a savings of $2.0M.

Re: 2017 Redskins Salary Cap Status
Over The Cap has us currently with $6.4M cap space.
But, then again, they have Gerald Hodges (ILB) listed in our top 51, so not sure how accurate that figure really is. Last that I heard, Hodges signed with Buffalo. Would love it if he "snuck" onto our roster somehow. |
Re: 2017 Redskins Salary Cap Status
About salary cap, I have a hard time understanding something:
Joe Theismann was on Cooley and Kevin (without Cooley) the other day, and, while being optimistic about the chances of KC signing a LTD this year, he made the point that next year we'll have plenty of players to sign (Pryor, Brown, Foster, Murphy, Breeland, Galette, Lauvao, Blackmon... 11 of them) so the Redskins can not afford to break the bank to sign KC. Kevin backed him up on that point. I get it. But. If we don't sign him, didn't Bruce said they were ready to tag him a third time? Wouldn't that be even more hurtful to our cap? If not, we saved some cap, great, but what are our options at QB? I sure hope a blockbuster trade would not be in the range of possibilities... |

Regarding the 11 players in their last year....I think we have potential replacements for many of them already under contract on our roster. Our draft this year did address much of those concerns (CB-Moreau, G/C- Roullier, OLB- Anderson). |

But regardless of that it's absolutely true that a long term deal, even one that is closer to KC's number than the Skins number would have less consequence than tagging him next year. |

Then sign a NT or WR RB or G. I would love to have POE and Brown back then trade back and go speedy WR and Back as well as guard then BPA. Sent from my SM-G955W using Tapatalk |
