Wow. Guess Gruden wasn't the only one that loves him. Liking the Richardson signing better by the minute. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
Got Paul Richardson for 1 million more a year. But you know he isn't worth it |

And signing a 8M WR doesn't prevent you from addressing these (legit) needs. With the 20M left I'd sign a ILB (Zach or other) at 7-8M, Isaiah Crowell at 8-10M, and resign guys like Spencer Long. Then I'd trade down and go DT, G, and DefBPA . But there are other valid combinations to fill these needs. Good for Ryan Grant. Good for Maurice Harris. Hope they both have great years next season.

Re: Redskins free agent signings 2018
Redskins figure to do well with compensatory picks in 2019 draft.
Cousins, Breeland, Ryan Grant all getting money. So far just Richardson balancing it out on the other side of the ledger. It’s not over of course, we’ll sign some guys but we’ll also probably lose Long and either Galette or Murphy. The more guys you lose in comparison to the guys you pick up, and the bigger the dollar difference is, the more compensatory picks you’re awarded. This is definitely part of their new model. Let guys go who get overpaid for mediocre play, resign your own studs, and reap the rewards of compensatory picks. |

It should not have came down to having a so so wr who catches 1 or 2 balls a game. Games were lost because the Redskins defense was like the worst in the last 2 minutes of the halfs. What does that tell you? Can't stop someone during the most important part of the game. I'd rather the Redskins overpay for someone who can help close a game out with a sack, not a 40 catch wr. Hope it pans out, I'll be rooting for the guy, but I've seen this rodeo before and it really never works out. |
I'd have paid Breeland that deal, Is it just me?
Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
I think the contract he got was fair. I could see why we could've paid him the same but also why we didn't. Moreau was drafted to be a starter on the outside. We can sign an Aaron Colvin type FA or draft a guy to man the slot. Good for Breeland but we can patch that hole. |
Re: Redskins free agent signings 2018
Good for Ryan Grant. Ravens are fools for giving him that kind of money but happy for that guy.

Re: Redskins free agent signings 2018
Watching NFL Networks 10 worst free agent signings of all times. # 1 is the whole Redskins franchise. Lol, and I can't even disagree.
We WERE so bad they're just listing guy after guy after guy. Cold blooded. Man, we are great fans lol. Note - it originally aired in 2013. |

Putting the ball game away early means not having the game come down to a last ditch effort by the defense to stop the other team, but yes, it is nice to have that guy who can rush the QB and get that last minute sack or INT. |
I'd have paid Breeland that deal, Is it just me?
Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
I would not have. Given that the deal he is getting will result in a compensatory pick in 2019, I would have let him walk too. He was inconsistent for us. I'd prefer to give Moreau a shot, a guy blessed with more physical tools. We have $21M in cap space remaining. We should not have burned up $8M of it on Breeland when we have a pretty talented guy capable of starting on the ascent. The team is right to pursue Richardson. There are very, very few speed guys on the market who can threaten a defense deep. That's a skill set we flat out didn't have on the roster. But other than that, day 1 free agency is where salary caps go to die. The team is right to be patient and bargain hunt to fill out the rest of the needs. If they don't sign anybody for the rest of this week, it's a good sign. Remember, we got Zach Brown 3 weeks into the process last year and we got him for peanuts. We need 4 or 5 of those signings between now and April 1. |

Also, the office aren't trying to win free agency wars anymore. I have to say, I'm quite impressed with Redskins FO so far although, I'm curious to see how they will handle RB situation since this area is something we have been lacking ever since Portis retired. |

Re: Redskins free agent signings 2018
They must really like Roullier at center.
Long was a solid "meh" player to me. I held out hope that he would prove more, but he really was never more than I mostly-competent starter, solid back-up. However, now we need both a starting LG and "mostly-competent starter, solid back-up" interior lineman. |
Re: Redskins free agent signings 2018
hopefully they have a plan to beef up the lines, it seems every off-season (almost) lately this FO decides to neglect the lines either JUST enough to hurt us (shreff, allen exceptions) - or completely to the point we have blocking sleds in there....... (last years d-line FA signings.....) i hope they have a friggin plan this time smh

Breeland, Grant, Long, Murphy -- Gone. Hopkins -- re-signed Richardson -- Signed. Zach Brown, hopefully back and, now that Murphy gone, maybe J Gallette comes back (but I think he is still looking for a payday). |

Re: Redskins free agent signings 2018
Offense is pretty much a wash so far - losing Grant and picking up Richardson. Losing Cousins and picking up Smith. Both may be upgrades, but time will tell. Spencer Long gone, but not a big loss really.
In my opinion, the defense was pretty decent to start the season last year until injuries started to mount. However, the departures to this point compared to the additions is not comforting. I know it's still early, and we can't really sign anyone until this evening, but so far we are potentially losing 2 DL, 2 LB, & 2 CB, with no reported additions thus far. I guess I'm wondering how everyone feels about the overall turnover so far? What do you think the plan is here? Some of the potential (reported) targets to fill these holes have resigned with their respective teams or signed elsewhere, and currently there's only 7 picks in the draft. I think I'm getting a little nervous about it all. |

Richardson is signing is meh, but worth the small risk of that contract With this offseason, my only question for the front office is 1. What have we done today to improve the running game? and 2.Have we got a NT/DT yet? We not taking that next step without a viable running game folks. |
