Re: Dallas week Version 1
You can disagree which is fine, but "unfair" is straight up bullshit. We have more than adequate weapons...from what Im told the roster has double digits wins talent...we been ok with injuries...schedule has been fine...we are in a weak ass division...we have continuity with coaching staff...and most relevant, Alex Smith is a proven Vet.
Smith hasn't played to the trade or the contract...Adrian Peterson has been the difference maker NOT Smith. I see 2 back to back bad performances and Jay Gruden flat out said yesterday, Alex is holding the ball too long. I need to see Alex Smith come out and perform at a high level this week. We paid him to win big games like New Orleans (oh buzzsaw, trap game...) on a big stage...but most importantly we paid Smith to win divisional games like Dallas at home. Coaches and the Front office chose Alex over Cousins...I need to see why. I need to see it now.
Sorry - He was gone before AS was signed. This is a front office issue not a coach issue. Is shows hate that I do not understand. |
Well above average is not what his W-L record says. It says he is the epitome of average. His contract is up after this season. Why would an owner with any championship ambitions want to re-hire a coach with a thoroughly average W-L history?
After 5 years of trying and failing to build a consistent winner, there is no next step for him to take. Time is up! He will either win this season or he'll be fired.
You are judging him based on just the w - l record. Being 500 does not mean he is average. It means his record is 500. I am not saying he should get a free pass for this year. I am saying I do not understand the hate and he is regraded as a good coach. If he will be coaching next year. In DC or somewhere else. There are 8 teams that would love him. |

Gruden should be able to take a proven qb and win with him after building his team for 4+ years. Maybe he will, we have a winning record, and could conceivably go on a 3-4 game win streak before facing Philly. I hope that is what happens, but my confidence in Gruden just doesn't exist. |
Re: Dallas week Version 1
The biggest thing Smith is giving us right now vs Cousins, and this shouldn't be understated... Smith has 3 turnovers on the year and Cousins has 8. That's huge folks. You can win a lot of games in this league running the ball, playing good defense, and winning the turnover battle.
Great point! |

If the team, with Kirk, at QB would have been average to slightly above average at the run game, it would have added a game to two games to the win column each year. The lack of urgency and his unwillingness to change when it came to the run game became an expected shortcoming year after year. He should be smarter than he was/is regarding the run game; putting players in positions to win, not putting weaker blockers in key positions who lose run after run. He doesn't even have to be original. Just copy a successful team. Or, as in this year, just do the same thing and bring in hall of fame level talent and instincts and rely on AP until he breaks down. |

If it isn't winning football games, then I'm baffled. Remember the famous Bill Parcells quote when he said "You are what your record says you are"? That's what I believe. 2. Re-signing him to a new contract after another mediocre year would indeed be tantamount to a free pass. 3. I don't know how you define hate but I don't think fans hate him. They just don't believe that he has what it takes to lead this team to the next level. 4. If you can, please name a couple of people with football knowledge who have said they regard him as a good NFL head coach, not coordinator. 5. I couldn't care less how many teams might want him as their head coach. If he fails to win here, he's got to go. It's the way of the world. |
Re: Dallas week Version 1
At this point, I just hope Alex comes out on Sunday and shows all of us that He is a Dallas killer. That he has that Dallas killer instinct. KC didn't really have that. I want to see that fire in his gut to destroy Dallas.
|
Re: Dallas week Version 1
Minnesota is a team loaded with talent poised for a super bowl run! Not so with redskins.. we are a middle of pack team .. So all these comparisons between KC and AS is hard to do...we could ponder if Smith was in Minnesota and Cousins still here what differences in record.. I don’t believe much would change however I do believe that with Minnesota WR’s we would be much better! Cousins turnovers is still haunting him and in the end that is why we never was sold on him 100% ..

What is a Dallas killer? Is being a Giants or Eagles killer just as important? |

Re: Dallas week Version 1
We've never beaten Dak and I dont see it happening this week.Dallas looked like it got it's groove back last week mixing in plays with Dak running the ball,if they try that with us I dont think we can stop it.Our defense has definitely been better this year, but at the same time I've never seen so many blown coverages and receivers getting wide open.Carolinas last td last week receiver was wide open, then they run same play on 2 point conversion and he's wide frickin open again! I dont trust this defense.
Plus our receivers scare nobody, and that's our starters which we will probably be without at least one.We got lucky last week getting the turnovers, dont think that happens again,Norman's got his one interception for the year. Dallas 28-10 |

I dont see Dallas off better either, but they did just put up 40 points against what was supposed to be the best defense in NFL,also we got 3 turnovers against Carolina,if we can get 3 turnovers against Dallas then it's a different story |
Re: Dallas week Version 1
Crowder is out, Richardson is doubtful, Thompson, Dunbar, and AP are questionable.. Alex and Oline really need to play well to help Redskins tomorrow, I'm not too concerned about our defense although I wonder how Zeke will play against our Dline.

I would think the 40 was an outlier, but it should be a good game. Wouldnt be surprised if both offenses clickthis week.

Dallas got a lot of stuff figured out last week on Offense and this week they will get fully back on track by kicking our ass.

On the reverse side of the ball is more concerning...Dallas has a very good defense....but the Redskins minus Crowder and Richardson can contest the Cowboys defense.... |

You can say that about every game, easier said than done. I think it’s going to be a lot easier for the Cowboys to stop our running game then the other way around. We will be without Thompson again, I and with them mixing in plays with Dak running( Who is a great runner, and runs like a bowling ball )I don’t think we will have an answer for Dak running the ball. If the skins adopted the cowboys Play book from last week and have Alex run the ball like Dak did last week(80 yards!)then I think that would open things up and help a lot, except Alex is built slightly better than RG3 and Dak is built like a linebacker and just bounces off the tackles . Do I think Dak is A great quarterback? No , but I think he’s a lot better than people on this board want to give him credit for.If he so bad how come we have lost to him four straight games? How bad does that make us? I am in Texas and work with cowboy fans, I sincerely hope I am completely wrong and we whip the hell out of them, would make my life a hell of a lot better! |

I would add Settle to the D-line rotation to spell Payne and Allen, he’s big and disruptive.
