Re: Dunbar demanding trade or release
Sunny we're on the same wavelength so much it's not funny.
All I see are opportunities to continue the Redskins way of signing the big name on the board (who's obviously looking to get paid) for multiple years of production that doesn't live up to the contract. Byron Jones went 40 games without a pick, as a corner that is absolutely terrible. If he wants to be paid top 5 money he needs to play like a top 5 corner. 40+ games without a pick, I mean he better be giving up a 10% completion rate to be worth top 5 money at that rate.
Yeah, it’s amazing how FEW INT Byron Jones has had, for the number of games he has played in. He’s very good at coverage but the team needs big plays for the money Jones would cost. Pass on him. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Re: Dunbar demanding trade or release
Let me dream....Quinton Dunbar and a 4th Round pick for WR Stefon Diggs OR Dunbar for OJ Howard straight up.
If you look at Minnesota they have a 2 starting CB free agents this year and Tampa's Cornerback situation is a serious mess. I would explore it. |

Im looking internal first at Fabien Mourneau. When he was moved to the outside the second half of the year, he played well. I envision Mourneau outside, Jimmy Moreland slot and Free Agent as the no 1. |

I'm aware they're all on IR but none of those injuries seem career threatening to me (hamstring, foot, hand). Point being let's not act like we have absolutely nothing at CB, but we'll need more for sure. Envoyé de mon SM-J320FN en utilisant Tapatalk |

Moreau is intriguing, he was disappointing early but showed improvement last season IMO. Envoyé de mon SM-J320FN en utilisant Tapatalk |
Re: Dunbar demanding trade or release
Chico and French - I'm not convinced Moreau can step up as #2 CB. I had hopes for him last season but he didn't show much until ending of the season so I'm not sure if I would feel comfortable going into the season with a FA CB and Moreau as our starting CBs. What if the FA CB or Moreau gets injury in the beginning or middle of season? I'm not worried about the slot position, we have it covered with Moreland or Stroman. But I would be concerned about #1 or #2 CB if we trade Dunbar away.
I think this is a dilemma Redskins FO will need to figure out how to handle during the offseason. Strong defense will help Haskins as it will lessen the pressure for the offense to score lot of points. Dunbar definitely will make the defense strong, and I don't think we can say the same for Moreau. If we could trade Dunbar for Diggs from Vikings or Howard from Tampa Bay then this definitely will help Haskins and the offense but will it be enough to score enough points if the defense cannot stop the opponents? It might not be a big deal if we draft Chase Young although this means we assume Young will come in and dominate like Nick Bosa did. There are just too many questions in this situation. The ideal scenario at this point for me is Dunbar comes in and play (I read a report somewhere that he said that he will still play regardless of the contract status), sign a CB from FA then draft Young. If Dunbar manages to justify his desire for a new contract after the 2020 season then Redskins should do everything they can to keep Dunbar. If Dunbar refuses to sign with Redskins then Redskins should franchise tag him and then trade him away. |
Re: Dunbar demanding trade or release
Gridiron...it’s an art & science with balancing the roster. First point, is Dunbar gonna be a distraction as he has been so far this offseason? 2. Can you go out and get an equal or better talent at a position of need at a trade? What is the value of Dunbar...probably the highest it will EVER be...low cap number and in his prime.
When it comes to replacement, u should always look internally like any business. Second, you have to analyze the market and say can’t we get equal play at a similar cap number? |

Dunbar hasn't done shit,he needs to shut up and get his ass to OTA'S, or get lost,we're about turning this thing around,no time for prima donnas.

His failings are staying healthy, but he also was a Gruden pet project and if he cannot transfer his mentality to that of Ron Rivera's then he will be gone. It is about the team, not the player or the coach. I hope Dunbar gets it, because on the field he has made great strides.

I'm a defense guy so I always will want Redskins to build a strong defense but even I have to admit the defense will not decline immensely if we trade Dunbar away. The other reason why I want Redskins to keep Dunbar because he is a homegrown player and I always believe in taking care of our own players before treating anyone else from FA. |
Re: Dunbar demanding trade or release
either sort this dunbar shit out or trade him for a 2nd this year. - to touch on the moreu topic - i think he can be a good corner - but i think his strength lies more with zone as opposed to man - maybe in the right scheme he will flourish who knows. Excited to see what the group we have can be with real DC and defensive minded staff.

We need to get another good-outstanding CB FA before we figure out with what to do with Dunbar. Then the draft.

Re: Dunbar demanding trade or release
I can't imagine that RR "needs" to keep any player. He is in the first year of a five year contract to guide a team that is building from the bottom up and he has nearly total control of football operations. RR is LARGE and IN CHARGE. Dunbar should realize that he has next to zero leverage.
Personally, I don't care who he keeps or doesn't keep. I am only looking for substantial improvement on the field this season and significantly more W's in Season Two and beyond. |
I think there’s a better chance we bring back Breeland than Fuller
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Really? I mean Fuller was on a roll with us and he could come cheap -very cheap. He had 4 INT with us his last year. Was it a one year bump? Maybe, so I don’t think they will put all their CB FA eggs in Fuller’s basket. But Kendall may surprise everyone by doing well and for a very low price. I agree that Breeland as a chance to come back but his last year with us he only had 1 INT. I think Fullers problem with the Chiefs is that they used him the wrong way. I’m not beating the drum for Fuller but he could be a real deal and they could dump him easily if he doesn’t work out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Re: Dunbar demanding trade or release
Fuller is essentially a rover position, he’s not a CB. We need someone on the outside
|
Re: Dunbar demanding trade or release
Honestly I don't really get the ongoing fascination with Fuller. I'd take Breeland over him starting on the outside. Fuller is better inside.

Re: Dunbar demanding trade or release
I assume when people are talking about bringing Fuller back it is to be on the inside
honestly, I rather keep moreland in there...and we have Danny Johnson and Stroman who have experience inside still on the roster. I rather not over pay for Fuller and spend that on someone who can cover outside. |
Re: Dunbar demanding trade or release
Breeland can't cover. Remember? Also, we haven't played well against the run and Moreau and Moreland are basically speed bumps. I think that Stroman and Johnson have potential if they can stay on the field. Basically, except for Dunbar, our DB's are below average.
Those of us who would like to see a reunion with Kendall Fuller are talking about signing him at a bargain price and not about throwing money at him. He could be a steal at the right price. We all remember his outstanding 2017 season with us. He also had two good seasons with KC, posting better numbers by far than any of our CB's except Dunbar. He can cover slot receivers, he is a good tackler he's a playmaker, and he has been available week after week. He would instantly become our second best CB when he is signed. |
Re: Dunbar demanding trade or release
Trees (breeland) time is over with us imo. I liked him when he was here as our CB2, he was a finger tip away from making a lot of plays but i would not entertain him coming back here. He is a weak CB2 imo, dont think he plays ST at his age and wouldnt accept an outside corner depth spot.
Dunbar - make him play this year on his contract. I would say just guarantee the year as hes not making a lot but I could see him reporting then missing the year for a hammy. |

Understood -you may be right. I’m only talking about Fuller if he’s super cheap. I don’t think Breeland wants to come back. Although he’s older (30), Chris Harris (Denver) could be the short-term deal to fill this gap with a very good player. Byron Jones (Cowboys) never gets any INT and Bradberry misses too many tackles. Bring over Tre Boston to compliment Collins but not Bradberry. Harris fills the gap while Kyle Smith drafts for the CB position long-term. We can’t fill all our holes with young FA. I’d rather spend the top dollar on Henry or Hooper and Williams/Scherff/Flowers. Sounds like Trent Williams is going to happen. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

If Bradberry goes relatively cheap (unlikely) I'd bring him in if we can't get Harris as he'd still be an upgrade on what we have. But I wouldn't go after both. Really have to draft the TE as we need a big upgrade over Sprinkle and I can't see us getting an immediate starter in the draft. What about LB's though? Doesn't seem very rich picking in FA, but what about Cory Littleton, Blake Martinez or Kyle Van Noy if we can get one or two of them? |

I definitely agree with you. I think there will be more wins than last season, as well, but I don't care as much about that in Year 1 as I care about winning records and playoffs in Year 2 and beyond. That's all I'm saying. |

Even if we made NO personnel changes this offseason ( which is being presented here just as a concept and not reality), the MASSIVE IMPROVEMENT in coaching, instruction and winning culture would DOUBLE our wins from last season. Our offensive and defensive coaching was THAT BAD before. But we ARE going to bring in new FA and draft picks. That’s another area of huge upgrade this season. I mean Bruce Allen was such a very poor GM and only made good FA decisions based on rare, blind luck. I think we’ll see younger, better and less injured FA. Kyle Smith will continue his outstanding draft picking prowess. That gets us 1-2 more victories. But they won’t be able to turn this poor team around in one season. No way. There will be injuries and mistakes as this will be a young, inexperienced team. But winning 7 or 8 victories will be a nice change and we’ll be on the way UP! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
