Re: Philly postgame week 1
Point to be made is that Wentz/Ertz/Goeddert may be the best QB TE duo set in the NFL. That the defense found a way to adjust is a terrific sign of things to come, and add in a JDR LB from the draft and next year will be even better!

I imagine that played a role in Haskins's accuracy issues - it's tough to throw ball effectively when the Dline is breathing down on his neck. |

Chase Young = 86.5 Overall grade , led the team. Moreau = 86 overall grade |

Tape is in but I haven't been able to check it out ,but just watching yesterday you can tell he had to rush |
Re: Philly postgame week 1
The whole offensive line can be replaced next year. Scherff can go get overpaid and under perform somewhere else. Moses too.
The rest are just JAGs. |

I can't believe we scored 27 pts

Re: Philly postgame week 1
With the PFF grades for perspective versus other teams
Geron Christian worst graded tackle in the league yesterday, Martin second worst guard in the league. Roullier bottom 5 grade yesterday. Schreff had a terrible pass block, good run block grade Moses overall had a decent grade, top 10 tackle. Couple other things, Apke got a terrible grade bottom 3 Safety in league ...Collins not great either. Our CB group had freaking awesome grades as a unit...think everyone was in top 15. Chase Young is like the 3rd highest graded edge defender in the league. Matty I with the highest grade among interior defender yesterday. WR, RB and TE all kinda graded out as average as a unit. |

If the LT-LG continues to be below average, I imagine we try different combos all year based on who looks good in practice. I dont think we have an average starter caliber amongst the bunch (geron, lucas, sharpe, martin and schweitzer). Charles missed most of a shortened TC (injury or conditioning or both) and seems to be a project a la geron when he was drafted. Scherff - hard to focus on interior OL without breaking down tape, hopefully a Cooley type person will do that for us this year. With needing a LT, possibly LG ... I dont really want to add RG to the need list as well but if he wants top 3 guard money .. he can walk. |

No. Missed FG drive started at our 15 only one that came close. |
Re: Philly postgame week 1
I am not surprised by the shitty grades at all. The Eagles were forcing the pocket back repeatedly. No fucking strength. Soft. Just not physical enough.
Geron's best play was recovering the fumble he caused. Charles has a cakewalk to a starting job when he's healthy. I'm drafting and signing all of the offensive linemen this off-season. Need a massive overhaul. |
Re: Philly postgame week 1
Get Saahdiq Charles in there NOW!

Re: Philly postgame week 1
3rd Down D was good at 5-14. 0-2 on 4th down. Nice to see.
TE Goedert was 8/101 and a TD (on 9 targets) Ertz was 3/18, 1 TD on 7 targets ------- We were only 1-5 on targets to McKissic, I imagine that is something Haskins and co. can iron out (those quick screen/bunch formation tosses). |

Re: Philly postgame week 1
I question it too.
I'd think if we had a group of the worst-graded O-Linemen, we would've had at least one turnover and more then 3 sacks. Our run game wasn't completely horrible either, 80 yards and 2 TDs. Also, most of the penalties were from the DEFENSIVE line. |

Im such a crappy fan ... I dont know who Josh Garnett is. ------------- Just looked him up .. college Outlander Trophy winner, 2016 1st round pick by the niners, recently cut by the Lions and signed by us. mammoth of a man. (edit - a 2018 tweet from him had his weight at around 300 and him saying his 325 days are over ..) Im intrigued but there has to be a reason. Started 8 or so games for Niners as a rookie before an injury in 2016. No games 2017. 2018 season opener, injured his toe. Seemed to never bounce back after that. |

Re: Philly postgame week 1
No excuses, Peters was in there playing LT like last year, Brooks and Johnson were missing, it’s the NFL.
EXACTLY! Injuries happen - I don't want to hear excuses either. I don't remember anyone giving the Redskins a pass when they were basically signing half their offensive line off the street on Thursday/Friday. I feel like this team led the league in dudes on IR for several years recently...I could be wrong, but it feels right. I'm sure the injuries played a part in the utter dominance yesterday, but I'm not sure it would have played out much differently with their starters out there. Pederson hung that offense out to dry in my opinion with his uber aggressive play calling, then Wentz made a shit show of it for them, making bad decisions and holding on to the ball too long too often. |

Not me! I want them to play against a shitty, depleted offense every week. For once, we weren't the team forced to play at a disadvantage due to injuries. Boo-Hoo for the Eagles having to take it in the shorts because their one-dimensional HC couldn't or wouldn't adjust his game plan to the reality that his OL wouldn't be able to pass protect. The dumb shit refused to run the ball and protect a 17-0 lead prior to halftime and got burned by an INT. Then they fell apart. Well, at least this loss was just a speed bump on the Eagles run to the Super Bowl - NOT! |
Re: Philly postgame week 1
It sure did. I also think the Eagles coaches helped by opting to keep passing when they were up by 17 and by 10. Why they wouldn't just pound the ball and shorten the game is beyond me.
I mean... have you seen our d line?!?! Can’t run on that and they knew it. 😂 |

This is exactly what I’ve been saying and hopefully come to fruition.
ESPN‘s Marcus Spears issues warning: “For everybody out there in the NFL that’s going to play the Washington Redskins: They are as motivated by what their coach is doing right now and be careful if you fall behind, because you may not have your QB the following week.” https://twitter.com/dcbarno/status/1305613598211923970?s=21 |

Philly postgame week 1
Redskins played a new type of football game versus the amateur hour of the Gruden-era :
1. Made a comeback like good teams can do. Never, ever happened with Jay. We would get a lead and then hang on by our fingernails with games being decided on the last play. 2. Defense got its groove on after a rough start. I predicted that this defense will be a TOP 5 DEFENSE. Yeah, the Beagles were missing some OL players but by the end of the day Wentz was scared and bedazzled by the pass rush. Also, I was impressed with the 8 sacks being spread around with different players EXCEPT with the best backup rusher Ryan Kerrigan - TWO SACKS and beating Dexter Manley’s career sack total. 3. We knew the Defensive rush was going to be awesome, but the secondary was excellent - especially at Corner!! Even without Fuller there the corners played great. They’re young and may make some mistakes but as the pass rush started to engage they got some INT. 4. The offense started slower BUT used great field possession to score TOUCHDOWNS, not the field goals or nothing of past years. I remember games where, because of miscues and penalties, the team moved backwards from inside the 10 to BACKWARDS 20-40 yards. This team scored in the Red Zone! 5. WR & TE - We knew MacLaurin was outstanding but the NFL is going to find out how good Steve Sims is! Logan Thomas didn’t have big yardage but he got key first downs and a TD. I don’t think Thomas is going to be excellent but already he’s very good at getting just enough to keep a drive moving or a TD when we need it. 6. Haskins wasn’t excellent but he was good enough to win. NO BIG TURNOVERS. He will get better and we’ll find whether he’s the future franchise QB or not by season’s end. The left side of the OL sucks but hopefully will get better - they were like a sieve at times. Christian and Martin are probably not the long-term answers and may just be the journeymen players we thought they were. The team looked at a bunch of WR and TE FA today. I was surprised they didn’t bring in some OL players too. But this tells me they aren’t happy with INMAN at the WR#2 and the TE #2 is open. AND they need backups at both positions. I think they’ll want someone with speed to match up with McLaurin. I think the team didn’t try hard enough to pick up something at TE in FA. All we have is Thomas. All in all, a wonderfully satisfying victory, especially since I live up here in Philly Country. It’s great to hear the fans here whine excessively about their injuries and how could we lose to WASHINGTON?? Like everyone else in the NFC East they’ve been happy to crush us on a regular basis because of our poor coaching, terrible and micromanaging owner, awful draft picking, AND ALWAYS paying too much for players who wanted to “CASH OUT” for min effort! No more- we have an excellent HC, and a outstanding DC and a phenomenal (almost) GM! I’m amazed how many REAL STARTERS we get from the dregs of the UDFA and lowest draft picks!! Before, we were lucky to get a Special Team wizard from the last three picks of our draft. We would have half of Bruce Allen’s draft picks not even make the team!!. With Kyle Smith great drafts - even his late picks actually make the starting team in the first or second year AND in important positions. And they are play makers!! I’m trying not to get to excited for this season because we DO HAVE some weak areas. But we are going to surprise the NFL, especially at defense! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

To quote this: "This was a strong statement following a tumultuous offseason for this franchise. This was a sign that things are going to be different under Rivera -- and Washington is going to be tough, week in and week out." We may not win many this year but it looks like we'll be playing tough and giving teams a fight that was lacking before. And maybe if we keep playing tough and don't let anyone walk all over us, we'll win more than expected. |

Daron Payne might not have had the sexiest stat-line from Sunday, but it's plays like this that I absolutely love. He blows up Kelce and forces the RB to the outside where Sweat finishes the play for a 5 yard loss. I love it. |
