If we'd sacked Gruden a year earlier and Ron (or equivalent) and regime had been in place to not draft (or at least properly evaluate) Haskins last year, then maybe. Though would we have been able to trade down to take him before the Chargers did? With hindsight he might have been a #1 or #2 pick but nobody would have taken him there based on pre-draft ratings.

If's, buts and maybes anyway. We don't need the #1 pick next year to get a franchise QB, just need to evaluate the guys available properly (i.e. keep Snyder out of the room). Trey Lance maybe that guy around early-mid 1st round. Got a chip on his shoulder to go with his arm, about being discounted as a QB. I like the fact he didn't throw a pick in his first 287 throws last year and he's mobile. But he needs a solid 2nd season else he's another 1 and done like Haskins et al.

Chase Young will be a perrenial pro bowler and our first All Pro since our punter back in the 90s.

Herbert - looked good but its only been a few games. Lets see what he looks like at seasons end. I try not to over react to a small sample size. We were all horny for zorny after we started 6-2 or whatever it was. Thinking we would set sack records after week 1 vs the Eagles. Gushing over Haskins for one half of football against the Giants last year.

Chase Young was the best player in the draft. Getting the best player is never wrong. We need to move on from this argument.

Color me the same.... I don't overreact after a handful of games or even a full season. I prefer to see a player "show up" for two seasons, at the least, before I'm truly sold on them.

Yet you are overreacting to Chase after the same small sample size? Personally i think they will both be great. Hebert is legit and doesn’t play for Washington. That alone will do wonders for your career.
