Re: Falcons pregame thread
I know "should be able to win" and "should win" are not the same thing.
But I have a hard time with this narration that the Falcons are worse than us. We're coming off a beat down and they are coming off a win. It's a show down between two really bad teams at the moment. I hope we win, but to me it's a toss up. Envoyé de mon SHV48 en utilisant Tapatalk
Oh Frenchy trust me I am the last person on this board that will be surprised if we lose. I won’t be surprised if we lose bad. I also won’t be surprised if we win. I mean ATL is definitely not Buffalo but they have a combination of qb and te that will absolutely rip our lb’s assholes in two if they drop back in coverage. Nobody in the league is plainly worse than us in the big picture or the small picture. |
Re: Falcons pregame thread
Guys CALM DOWN...
We will smoke the dirty birds on Sunday... Chase Young 6 sacks confirmed |

eh, the Giants, Jets, Jags, and Lions may have something to say about that. We're coming off an ugly loss no doubt, and the D needs to show a dramatic turnaround really soon, but the sky isn't falling. Not yet. |

Not yet.
Agreed we're not the worst team in the league, worst case the worst 1-2 team. But I wouldn't say we're clearly better than the Lions right now. They're a crossbar away from being 1-2 themselves and while they've had similar results to us against 2 good teams, they were beating the Packers at HT and they outscored the 49ers 23-10 in the 2nd half of that game (but did dig themselves a hole in the 1st half). And the Giants could have beaten us. The positive I see is we can only get better as we have the talent on the field. It's the coaching that give me pause for thought... |
Re: Falcons pregame thread
Big picture the Giants and Lions have been far worse in recent years.
Either way, bottom line is people need to step back off the ledge. A win against ATL and we're 2-2, right where most of us would have thought we'd be. |

The Giants won those two and it may have been ten years ago but id take that in a heartbeat and id still be feeling good about it. Yes clearly we can be 2-2 after Sunday. It is more the manner in which we have lost that has me feeling hopeless. The run of games after Atlanta is going to be brutal if this D doesn’t figure something out. 2-2 can become 2-10 real easy based on what I have seen. Just trying to look at it from a non fan perspective- aka putting the kool aid down. And if i do that I see a top 5 pick right now. I know things can change. Let us just beat Atlanta- maybe it will boost our confidence and we can ride on that. |
Re: Falcons pregame thread
Just look back to last year, we were 2-7 at one point and all seemed lost. CHILL.

Re: Falcons pregame thread
This team has too many talented players to not turn it around.
Things fall in line this Sunday. Skins 24 Falcons 20 *my bold prediction - everyone starter on the DL gets at least a .5 sack |
Re: Falcons pregame thread
Just watched the All 22 of Falcons @ Giants.
I'm intrigued. This upcoming match up is very hard to predict IMO. I could see it going absolutely any way: shoot out, low score close game, blow out one way or the other. Very cliché, but once again it's all about the trenches IMO: - Their Dline is not very good, but they can generate pressure every now and then, #97 Grady Jarrett has a nice swim move. Our Oline is coming of a strong outing against the Bills, if they are up to the task, Heinicke could have a really nice game, especially if he extends plays just a bit, there are holes to be found in their zone coverages. - Their Oline isn't that great either, but the neither was any of the OL they faced so far, Chargers with a rookie LT, Bills with a sketchy line, and we still couldn't generate much pressure. So IF, and as you can see it's a big fat all caps "if", our DL finally steps it up, we have the tools to take control of this game. But if this D as a whole is the same that we saw the first 3 weeks, Matt Ryan and his TEs + Calvin Ridley will have a lot of fun with Bostic, Fuller and Cie... One good thing is I think they can be run on. Deion Jones is symbolic of really good talent wasted on a shitty squad. |

I hope we see J. Davis get even more snaps this weekend. Pitts is a freak athlete and would/will absolutely embarrass Bostic. We need Davis’s speed in coverage.

Literally the number one most important thing about Sunday is that Bostic isn’t put in that position. Yet I have this odd feeling I am going to watch him get torched while RR and JDR look on like stone faced zombies from the sideline. |

Maybe we finally landed a 2nd round blue chip:

I am sure I saw somewhere that one of the College highlights that got Davis noticed was when he played against Pitts and did a pretty good job.... hopefully Ron and co remember that |
Re: Falcons pregame thread
I have Pitts on one of my FF teams, definitely thinking this will be his breakout game

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uKUL6RYzr8o&t=2s
It has been so long, I honestly cannot remember the last 2nd rounder here who was even borderline starter quality (for more than a handful of games) hopefully Cosmi keeps it up, he is the top ranked tackle from last years draft according to PFF |
Re: Falcons pregame thread
John Jansen is the last good 2nd rounder I can recall, ironically also a stud RT
|
Re: Falcons pregame thread
Wish we had our guy at QB, look at Cincy, we are probably the better team but they got a QB. =(

I was looking at PFF and Holcomb and his completion percentage against and allowed QB rating are not much better than Bostic. He is a liability in pass too. I think any LB we have on Pitts will need safety help all game |

With tape like this I wouldn't bet against him. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q2Km7fur2-w&t=118s TE's are feasting on this crew. At least Holcomb makes plays now and then - Bostic is just a liability. |
Re: Falcons pregame thread
Davis should be on the field 100% of the time, barring maybe a 1 play break here or there.
I'd much rather take my chances with Davis in coverage then either of the other 2 guys. Let him grow into the job. As someone else said, let Hudson play too. Go nickel with: Hudson, Davis, McCain, Fuller, Juste, Jackson, Curl. |
Re: Falcons pregame thread
Finally: Curtis Samuel playing
He’ll be active, he’ll be ready to roll,” Rivera said, via Rhiannon Walker of TheAthletic.com. The Football Team will have to officially place Samuel on its 53-man roster. But Washington currently has a roster spot open for him, so the club won’t have to make a corresponding roster move. As for the rest of Washington’s injuries, running back Antonio Gibson (shin) was a limited participant in Friday’s session and is listed as questionable for Sunday. Per Ben Standig of TheAthletic.com, Rivera said he’s “pretty confident” Gibson potentially playing in Week Four, but it depends on how Gibson feels on Saturday. Defensive tackle Matt Ioannidis (knee) is also questionable, though he was a full participant on Friday. Guard Brandon Scherff (chest) was a full participant again on Friday and has no injury status, so he’s expected to play. Defensive back Benjamin St-Juste (concussion) did not practice on Friday and has been declared out. |

He has played well. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/S/StJuBe00.htm Targeted 21 times only 12 completions. Less than 2 yards average YAC. Definitely stings |

Oh they both suck in coverage. Don’t need PFF to tell you that. But Bostic isn’t even close. At least Holcomb is in the vicinity usually. They both need to be upgraded. I think Holcomb is smart and knows what to do he is just not quick enough. Bostic has no idea what he is doing in coverage. |

That thread is basically expired for everything besides mustard talk. This one we still need. With Gibson a little banged up, wonder if Patterson gets some carries this game. |
