Re: Welcome Carson Wentz
Really, you'd give them two or three years of guaranteed money? Also compete with other teams and overpay for them?
Yes, I would give them two years of money and keep my draft picks. W/out question. Every team in the NFL has overpaid players. Wentz is vastly overpaid at 28 million next year. Trubisky would cost way less than that. You could pay him 28 million over two years. Is Wentz any better than Mitch? No. And like I mentioned, a 3rd round pick is our best player and you just gave two years of those away for a guy who isn't wanted. Our front office sucks. |
Re: Welcome Carson Wentz
Put up Wentz vs Dak and you’d be surprised.

The first full blooded Commanders QB.
Come on, sing it with me: And you think today is going to be better Change the world and do it again Give it all up and start all over You say you will but you don't know when Then it's back where you started Here we go round again Day after day I get up and I say Come on better do it again |
Re: Welcome Carson Wentz
Sorry not buying it. Just like we were letting everyone know we wanted a QB, the Colts were letting everyone know what they thought of Wentz. He was getting cut. You just don't give up high draft picks for someone that is about to get cut.
Just because there was a possibility of him being released, doesn't mean that there wasn't competition for his services. |
Re: Welcome Carson Wentz
What a stupid fucking trade!! Gave way too much for a washed up QB, Jimmy G. Would have been better

Jimmy said no to Washington. It was reported yesterday unfortunately |
Re: Welcome Carson Wentz
If he becomes a free agent you can't guarantee he would come here, plus you have to offer him a new contract.
So what. Why are they so hell bent on getting him in the first place? Go get Mitch or Mariota. It's not like Wentz is any better than those guys. You'd land one and keep your draft picks. |

Didn't say he was. |

Jordan Love would be better than this guy, who ruined the colts chances in the last 3 games. He sucked horribly!! |
Re: Welcome Carson Wentz
So we traded two 3rd round picks for him. He had 27 TDs and 7 ints last year. When he is healthy we've seen first hand what he can do. The risk is pretty minimal if you ask me. No matter what we did people were gonna be upset. We didn't get Rodgers nor Wilson, would you all rather trade away a first for Jimmy G.? I'm confused at those who are ticked off, what is the alternative solution? Heineke again? We know he isn't winning anything

Again who cares? Why would you get into a bidding war for Wentz? He isn't worth giving up a 2nd and 3rd rounder. He just isn't worth that kind of compensation. |
Re: Welcome Carson Wentz
Right now everyone was hoping for a Red Ryder BB gun for Xmas and we end up with a cap gun.
I am still hoping we draft someone as well. Sigh |

No way would Kyle send him here. He wouldn't do that. |

Exactly. The alternatives were likely Jimmy G (who would cost MORE), Winston (coming off an ACL), Trubisky (probably following Daboll) and Mariota (?). A couple day 2 picks over two years isn't a bad price for an upgrade at the most important position on the field. It's possible that this could end up being a terrible move, but I think it's more probable that this turns out pretty good. |

There's a bidding war for every QB that is "available". Wentz is no different. Again, why are so many people so upset that they upgraded the QB position? A 3rd this year and probably a 2nd next year...big deal... |

I'd definitely argue Wentz is better than Trubisky and Mariota. And if you went after those guys, you're competing against other teams with no guarantees you can sign one. Then what, you go into the draft with your hands tied having to trade up or pray someone you really like falls to 11? Sounds like a recipe to end up with Heinicke as your starter again. |

This is where I’m at, he’s a legit QB1 when healthy. Is he elite? No but he’s mid tier and way better than Heineke and Allen Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I don't love the move but I don't hate it either. People act like draft picks are gold or something, each pick is a gamble and more often than not you lose. |
Re: Welcome Carson Wentz
If Wentz has 30 Tds next year and 10 picks and we win 10 games id take that all day
|
Re: Welcome Carson Wentz
He's better than Heinicke, Allen, Fitz, every QB coming out of the draft this year, Mariota, Trubisky, Winston...His contract is not unreasonable, and the asking price was fair. All in all, I don't see a lot to be upset about, unless you just enjoy being upset about literally everything this franchise does - because you are just accustomed to being upset about literally everything this franchise does...

Seriously. The position has been upgraded significantly. We can seriously compete for the division now. |
Re: Welcome Carson Wentz
I'm just being bitchy (mostly about the cap space), but argh, he was like Plan D for me. If SOMEHOW, we finally get lucky and capture any of what he had as a rookie, this is pure genius. Maybe we can actually not use our first on a QB.

Re: Welcome Carson Wentz
As someone who was getting on the Watson bandwagon, this is a nice wake up call:
@fullblownbrian I’m honestly so relieved right now. He’s an immediate upgrade that doesn’t prevent us from drafting a QB with a high pick. And I can stop listening to fans begging we mortgage the future for a sexual predator. |
Re: Welcome Carson Wentz
Eyes wide open on this, we're going to get frustrated with accuracy issues for sure because 62% completion percentage sucks.
But watch this video, which admittedly is the highlight package, but you can see the strong arm from funky platforms. Falling backward, rolling away, across the body. Heinicke can't make these throws. That's how 27-7 can happen. Russell Wilson he is not but he's better than what we've had. Anyway, use this video to try to get a little excited, if nothing else: [YT]05UB5Wwj5yg[/YT] |

Re: Welcome Carson Wentz
You guys are thinking of the Carson Wentz of a few years ago. He's a bad QB now. He isn't much better than TH and costs a lot more plus you just gave up a couple of picks.
Reminds me a lot of the McNabb trade. Damaged goods. |

Doug P benched him for Hurts. So you are saying you know something that DP doesn't???
That was a lost season with a bad team. They were 3-8-1. Even Pederson knew he had to see what Hurts could offer over the last four games. That had more to do with evaluating Hurts, than anything else. His last five years: TD / INT 2017: 33 / 7 2018: 21 / 7 2019: 27 / 7 2020: 16 / 15 2021: 27 / 7 2020 was the outlier - the year he was traded to the Colts. |

I'm not saying you have to like this, but you're making it worst than it seems. And Heinecke was terrible.
Watch him when his team needed him the most. He shit all over himself against the worst team in the league. Winning QB's don't do that. I have just never really been a fan of the guy. It's like the league caught up to him and he had no change up. He is always trying to make superman plays ducking under the d-linemen, then he either fumbles or takes horrible sacks. He just makes way too many bad plays. He is a bigger version of RG3. Again, when two teams move on from you that is just a really bad sign. Real bad. Ballard is a solid GM, he's not going to just get rid of his starting QB for no reason. |

Why?? both are washed up. Only difference is only one team had given up on McNabb. Two have given up on Wentz. |
