Even if the Bengals do win this one, I don't see how they're gonna be able to win another playoff game with this Oline.

They are missing 3 starters on the OL. Are they out for the season or can any of the 3 come back for the next game?

I know they have some injured guys, but assumed they were out for the rest of the season... Scrolling through this article now, RT Lael Collins is indeed out for the season, guard Cappa injured in week 18 could theoretically return, and no word yet on LT Jonah Williams injured in this game... Doesn't sound too good for them.

Re: Wild Card Weekend

I know we have piled on Jones and Hurts in here, but this season they have both been what their teams needed from a QB. Especially Jones given his lack of weapons. Is there really a gulf between either of them and, say, Josh Allen? Of course 1 season does not a legend make, but in this "what have you done for me lately" league, you can't ask any more of them really.

How come the likes of RR (and especially Irsay) can't see that your route to the playoffs is best laid out with a QB you've drafted and groomed for the job. A tired retread isn't likely to work, let alone 2-3 of them in succession.

Mahomes, Allen, Lawrence, Jones, Burrow, Hurts and even Purdy, all drafted and built by their team and all in the divisional round. Brady is the exception to every rule, even if he wins tonight.

Reinforces, for me, that we have to see what SH can do and bring in young coaching talent to stretch him.

Oh and knock Cousins, and it is justified given the end to the game, but that loss is squarely on the Vikings coaches and GM. That defence is awful when you consider the offensive potential. Wasted opportunity, especially if Detroit keeps improving.

Baltimore gave that game away last night. Harbaugh is a cocky asshole but that was a solid game plan.

So far the playoffs are telling us that Head coach and organizations are so very important.. maybe as important than the Big name QB .. Miami and Baltimore both played well against better QB .. San Fran has a rookie .. Daniel Jones is not a Great QB .. however They all are well coached and great Schemes.. under the Right coach and scheme we are a few players away .. OL needs upgrading for sure and a TE that can dominate .. Under the right coach we don’t have to have Mahomes to win ..

Great Sunday to watch football. Cooked all day, watched football all day.

Glad the games stayed competitive.

--------------

Cousins checkdown on last play was vintage "process oriented" Kirk.

All routes covered = checkdown .. thats the binary computer rule.

As I pointed out earlier with the exception of Brady (exception to everything QB related!), they're all home grown. Find your guy and once you've found him, groom him and keep him. Coaching is a massive part of that. OC/HC knowing what they can trust their QB to do and not do is key. Look at how Jones and Lawrence have improved this year with better coaching, and their coaches showing trust in them.

O'Connell has shared some blame in that and rightly so. 4th and 8 you need your receivers all moving, all play and around or beyond the 1st down. Short yardage, yeah you can have a guy go out in the flat and beat his man on a quick play, but being pretty much stationary 2 yards downfield your guy is unlikely to reach the marker. Cousins may well have been looking for a sure fire completion over chancing his man going and getting the ball (which is probably why Jefferson had a quiet half), so yeah he should have taken a chance. But having your outlet receiver in a position where he'd have to make an awesome play to get the 1st down isn't smart either.

idk man

Video of the play ... I didnt listen to this guys commentary

4 wide ... 3 receivers go beyond the sticks, Cousins with some incoming pressure but nothing hot hot .. makes a quick decision to check it down to the outlet guy

Outlet guys imo are check down if-all-else-fails options .. and thats on normal plays, not your season on the line and you need 8 yards plays.

Computers cant appreciate context .. Kirk is a computer.

Very competitive games, with Miami being able to keep it that close was the most surprising to me,the Vikings being the least surprising.
I didnt watch 2nd half of Bengals, that was a lot closer than expected also.On that fumble return for td,there was a clear push in the back on Andrews that sent him tumbling that wasnt called,I dont know if it was mentioned during the game or not, sportscenter didnt say shit about it on the replays

Hysterical the hate for Cousins. Dude was 31 of 39 for 280 yards. 2 td’s and 0 of int’s and took zero sacks. Him and the TE were the only ones who showed up. The D couldn’t stop a thing. Not one thing. But yeah its Kirks fault because of one poorly designed play. Was he supposed to throw it away or get it to anyone with pressure in his face?

Was JJ open in the 4th quarter or are we just looking for some vague stat to blame Cousins. Hockenson was a man possessed and he got plenty of looks.

2-1/2 drives in the fourth. One resulted in a fg. So on 14 plays Jefferson didn’t get a look and that is all on Cousins? Not on JJ? The oline? The OC? Come on. Cousins played more than good enough to win. Defense and Coaching staff did not.

He's a top tier QB and he's always going to take the heat; all QBs take the heat. There have been plenty of QBs throughout the years who carry their teams through bad defenses (Mahommes, Manning, Brady, Brees, Rodgers, etc., etc.). If he wants to be in that tier, he'll be expected to win games like this.

Whether it is fair or not, Kirk is going to always draw a lot of criticism because he's always demanding and getting fully guaranteed contracts, he always has had a loaded team offensively in Minnesota, and the narrative around the Vikings when he was brought is that they were a good QB away from the SB.

Lastly, regardless of what happened in that game, everyone is going to remember 4th and 8, and he only able to manage throwing a 3 yard pass.

Brady had a bad defense? All of Those teams Defenses showed up when they had to. And they all had great staffs too. It just isn’t that simple.

Giants didn’t score 31 points all year except one time against the Colts. The D for Minnesota is 100 percent to blame for making the Giants look like the greatest show on turf.

To be fair to myself, he could have won the Super Bowl and I'd still hate on him.

And their defense was definitely an embarrassment.

But still can't throw that ball.

And you shouldn't have a route that is going sideways to the sticks on 4th down. If you're gonna throw it short it needs to be a slant or something, where you're at least heading upfield. So not a great playcall either.

You are talking about 9 plays G - 1. 9 plays. They kicked a FG to tie it early in the fourth. You are blaming Cousins because JJ didn’t get a look during 9 plays? Come on.

The Vikings defense had as poor a showing against the Giants as any team did all year and you are blaming Cousins for not chucking 50/50 balls in a tie game to JJ?

Terrible play call and it was Hock vs a little d back. Hock was on fire he probably thought he could bust the tackle and get the first down. DB made a great tackle. Maybe had one Vikings defender made a great tackle all day the outcome would have been different.
